What about them doubledown moves... Unique from different setting surfaces, but same jobs?

LOL! None of my Shred 30 or Sick 3 use XDEX or the multiple Double Down Family moves. I'm pretty sure I'm one of the only people who's routine/sick 3 won't be affected by it though :?

Well, now that Kevin told me where modified went, I'm down to go. I just need to round up some $ because I spent all my money paying off my bills. I need to find another job first because Wendy's sucks. I'll let you know by the 21st if I'll be there or not.

Haha, yeah I don't have any xdex or double down moves in my shred30. I just wanted to be thorough.

On a theoretical side note: If I do a muted tapdown, but set really low... is it unique from a midtimish-downtimish paradon? (most double downs done this way)

as long as it's distinguishable whether it is crispy or original paradon

The four different double downs should be considered unique in shred 30. Barfly, paradon, double down, down double down. They are all set differently so they're unique.

I always agreed to this. I know I know, it's "all the same move" but be real. There are tons of other moves that fall under the same ideal. They are different, you can't tell me they are the same. Seriously, I never understood why it's only about double downs. What makes double downs not unique from different sets? It's either all or nothing, why does it have to be double downs? Why not whirls aren't unique? How about all ducks/dives aren't unique anymore

I was mostly doing that to ease judging, but i'll hold a vote and we can make this decision through popular vote. take the poll

If Barfly = A
and DownDoubleDown = A

then Barfly = DownDoubleDown

and also Blurriest = Stepping Barfly = Stepping A
and Blurrier = Stepping DownDoubleDown = Stepping A

Then Blurriest = Blurrier.

Does Blurriest = Blurrier?

if dod set from far clipper (barfly) is unique, and dod from near clipper (down double down) is unique then according to this "set differently" rationale...

toe drifter and clipper drifter=2 uniques
far legover and near legover=2 uniques
toe whirl and clipper whirl=2 uniques
toe mirage and clipper mirage=2 uniques
out-in atw set from inside and out-in atw set from outside=2 uniques
etc...

these similar examples just don't work for me as seeming unique from eachother

Doesn't that just prove the point? Those are all different moves, it just seems lame because your chose lower-level moves. Wow, so toe nemesis wouldn't be unique? toe swirl isn't unique!?! because it was from a toe. Come on ...

Kevin, you can use that same reasoning to justify near and far legover being unique

if near legover=A
and far legover=A

then near legover=far legover *which most people agree on*

Also, stepping near legover=stepping A
and stepping far legover=stepping A

then stepping near legover=stepping far legover

does stepping near legover=stepping far legover?

My point, yes. i'm trying to get across that toe drifter and clipper drifter and all the others are not considered unique in my eyes.

Is intermediate competition not allowed the same overall rules as open competition?

*since i'm already taking out xdex, i'll probably count double overs as unique. Keep these ideas going though. this is good constructive talk

You've got very flawed logic my friend. :)

From our standpoint, yes, far and near legover look practically identical, but to an intermediate player they do not. They're not learning variety and consistency -- they're learning balance, pivot, and footwork. When these are the things that make a trick difficult, clipper set legover and far legover and very different tricks that take different skill sets. They may seem very similar to us because those skill sets are so ingrained and subconcious, but they make them very different tricks at the intermediate level.

does anyone want to help me judge so that I don't butcher people's scores with my misunderstanding of uniqueness? I don't want to get banned from judging and have disgruntled footbaggers running about

I think you will do fine at judging Kevs :)

It's just the plain fact that the moves are different!!! They are not the same move!!! How can anyone dispute that? Since when is toe drifter the same as clip drifter? Since when is barfly the same as down double? My body can sure tell the difference :?: Can't you? Am I stupid or something?

Sorry for being a little harsh. If I were to go I doubt I would compete anyway, so go ahead disregard my thoughts on the matter. ;)

Question: Do I get 2 uniques for hitting drifter ending in right clipper from both left toe and left clipper?

I am totally down to help you judge Kevin, no worries dude! But just to clear the air, I would say that the double down tricks are unique and I do count xdex, but you guys are the hosts.

Who cares though. I think people should make a new thread about this unique issue and start preparing themselves for having fun!

Wooooooo!!

Now I just need to ask my supervisor for the days off work  .
