Worlds 2006 Video Challenge

The battle for best footbag short film is here again.
Footbag video makers have three months to plan,
shoot and edit their master pieces for this year's contest.
The challenge was a hit at 2005 Worlds and this year
the show is expected to be even more spectacular.

The best videos will be shown at Worlds and the top three
will be published live at the same show. The challenge is
hosted by planetfootbag and BOTS filming crew.

WORLDS 2006 VIDEO CHALLENGE

All video makers around the world read carefully.
The second official Worlds Video Challenge is taking
place in Frankfurt this summer during the Footbag
World Championships. Make a 5 minute film and
you can be the winner of best video award with
great prizes.

|RULES|

Length: 5 minutes max (do not exceed!)

Deadline: 16th July (Worlds late check-in)

Idea: Make a video which represents footbag in some
way. It can be freestyle, net, golf or anything
that relates to footbag. Use your imagination to
create an enjoyable audio visual performance.
There are no restrictions so hit the REC-button and be
a director!

Judging: Idea, Filming, Editing, Spirit, Integrity

Format (three options, deliver only one):
1. MPEG 1 or 2 in PAL video system on DVD or CD
-resolution 720x576
-25 fps interlaced bottom field first OR progressive
-anamorphic widescreen OR 4:3 letterboxed OR 4:3
aspect ratio
-please use high encoding rate (such as 4-6mbps VBR) for
good picture quality
-if you can't make a good PAL-transfer use NTSC format
(in this case use the corresponding values)
2. Uncompressed DV-format AVI on miniDV cassette or
DVD in PAL video system (No NTSC miniDV-cassettes accepted!)
3. DivX/Xvid encoded video at high resolution and
high bitrate. You can send it over the web or deliver
on a cd/dvd. Please contact [email protected] for
technical assistance before sending anything.

The best three videos will receive a Bringing out the Shred
footbag movie DVD (http://www.botsmovie.com).
The winner will also receive a special prize from planetfootbag!

|INFO|

Please email to the contact address if you are
attending so weï¿½ll know how many videos will be shown.
If there are over ten videos, the judging panel
will choose the best eight to be shown in the screening.
You need to leave your video to the staff on the check
in so we can check that the video works properly.
You can also attend even if you are not coming, in
that case contact the same email address.

I would really like to enter this, if I have time to chop something together I definatly will, but I think to win you would have to film your movie with the intent of making a really professional clip, and I don't have time or good players to film something good

Actually I think they all are played at Worlds and the winner is decided there.

Anssi is right. As the rules and info say, the videos will be shown at worlds (there will be a special party for this at one evening). If there are over ten videos, the judges will choose the best eight to be shown. And yes, the judges announce the top three at the same show.

You don't have to be a pro to win this challenge, just be creative. We will announce the judges in a few weeks. There will be five judges from five different countries. I and Jan Zimmermann have been already named in the judging panel.

Yeh its more the idea behind it and the quality of execution. Like you dont need ridiculous sets, hardcore shred, big name players etc... the 'Play Footbag' video that was like, 3rd (?) place last year, like 1 min long and we made at the European exchange in Poland in one afternoon.

i JUST MIGHT Menter this....and i think i might use some footage from the montana freestyle jam, using the sights the sounds, and the scenery, its could possibly work out into a pretty sick vid

to all interested:
if you're planning to submit a film for the videocontest please contact jere ([email protected]) asap.

the video battle will be held on wednsday evening at worlds and we have a movie theatre to show the contributions. however we need all material on BETA in order to be able to show it through the projector. therefore we need to receive all contributions latest at the late registration/sign in on sunday july 16th. we will then have all the material converted to BETA.

we cannot accept last minute contributions like last year.

Hello,
Here are the results for Video challenge. I would personally like to thank all contestants for participating, this wouldn't have obviously happened without you guys. The level was good yet one of the videos was above all getting the #1 mark on all the judges sheets. So there was no question about the winner. The second place was also quite clear but third place was very even.
The judges were Jere Vainikka, Jan Zimmermann and Sebastien Duchesne.

And here are the results (points are placing points, i.e. 1st place on a judge's sheet gives you one point. The video with the fewest points wins and so on)

1. Lauri Jaakkola (FIN) with 3 placing points
2. Wiktor Debski (POL) with 7 placing points
3. Dylan Fry (CAN) with 11 placing points
4. Evan Lovely (USA) with 12 placing points
4. Yves Archambault (CAN) with 12 placing points

I hope I got everyone's nationality right.
The first three will receive a BOTS dvd when it's released (September) and the first place gets also brand new Quantum shoes from planetfootbag!
