Advice for sucking lately?

Post by Matt K »

yeah, well ever since i had this awesome drill session 4 or 5 days ago, my game has been complete shit. it takes me so many tries to hit the simplest links, and then i end up getting frustrated and stop after playing for about 45 minutes. is there anything i can do to get back in the groove?

Same thing happens to me a lot. I have a good session so I expect the next one to be good as well... makes sense right? But after I hit a platue my game drops (for a session or two). I think one of the reasons is rest. After a good session your knees may be sore and stuff and you just have a bad day.

The derivative of one's progression in footbag is very rarely always positive... :)

yeah, its all about taking a day or two off. i recommend playing every other day, with a break of a 3-4 days every few weeks. the rest really does help a lot more than pushing your already tired body to play well. sometimes you will play well no matter how tired you are or how much you played the day before, but think about how much better you would be playing if you were well-rested as well...

and also bad sessions happen all the time, and a plateau in your game can last weeks. you just have to take the bad sessions with the good. when having a bad session you can either play through it, if you really feel like playing, or havent much lately, or just stop if it really isnt going well.

Focus. Think clean thoughts. Feel your inner foot.

Longer sessions help.. maybe try to warm up more or school the stuff you're particularly having trouble with. Definitely rest yourself if you're too sore.
you just have to take the bad sessions with the good.
^^^That's the best attitude to have. Even when you get super good you're still going to have sessions that aren't as satisfying... but you're still playing footbag. :D

well, i was totally bored today, and did pretty much nothing, but i resisted the urge to start kicking. i really would have liked to fill the time with something, but i told myself i'd take a day or two ff

Sometimes during bad sessions I feel like just stopping there at the beginning so I don't feel so bad mentally - but I usually end up doing a light shred or it gets to be a good session after an hour. Sucks sometimes it takes that long to get into the groooove.

"advice for sucking lately?"

you want some advice on how to suck? Do like me, go wayyy too hard on the first day, and smoke pot before you shred on the next 2 days. That's how to suck lately.

This happens to me a lot, I will be playing really good one day and then it feels like I decrease in skill for awhile. I always come back though and have an even better drill session. It's like 2 steps forward one step back.
