Probably most of you have already got an announcement about this (or will soon) but I just thought I'd give a heads up anyway. The IFPA board of directors have voted to amend the membership structure and now need the proposal to be ratified by the general members. There will be an online vote for all IFPA members soon however in the mean time you can find the proposal here:
http://www.footbag.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3431
and if you have an opinions or questions about the new membership proposal please address them in that topic (and not here - since I doubt the people who wrote the proposal read modified).
Cheers.
PROPOSAL TO AMEND THE MEMBERSHIP STRUCTURE OF IFPA
sweet proposal. that 10$ barrier was keeping me from being an official ifpa member. i just couldnt get the money and bear to use it on a memebership for footbag, having never attended any tourneys.
i think this will further footbag, and not for revenues sake. for footbag.
thankyou ifpa, for all you do in terms of footbag, and anything else you do

wow, very intense proposal.
I have been considering joining lately, but like Brinard, havent been able to justify it because I dont do tournies etc. I wanted to join to feel more a part of the community, so I will still pay for my membership(just not until I plan to compete...if and when
), but at least I am in somewhat if this proposal goes through.
good work, especially from a beneficiary of this proposal

i think that it's a great proposal, and after reading it, I feel that it's a positive change. My favorite part is the membership list actually reflecting the footbag community. As the document said before, onyl a small percent of the freestyle community was represented, becuase they were the ones who HAD to pay to get into tournies. I myself only signed up becuase I couldn't compete without a membership, so I said "Oh what the hell" and got a shirt too. Changing it so that anyone who wants to be a part of the list can get on there without the $10 is great. AFter all, the more members we have the more chance we have of being recognized as a "real" sport in the eyes of the people. IFPA all the way.

Re: PROPOSAL TO AMEND THE MEMBERSHIP STRUCTURE OF IFPA
I was actually serious when I wrote this - not just trying to increase the word count of my post.Jeremy wrote: and if you have an opinions or questions about the new membership proposal please address them in that topic (and not here - since I doubt the people who wrote the proposal read modified).
I always thought $10 was CHEAP!!! Free hosting?
According to polls, if 50% of us didn't buy weed for a day, we would have tons of IFPA members. Sad, but true!
Seriously though, it's a credit card issue, not a $10 issue. It's funny that people try to say it's too much. If you love footbag, you should support the IFPA. Mine is about to run out soon and I will be paying $10 for it again.
Sorry to rant here, but I'm just keeping the ranting to the .in wheels, don't hurt me.

Just to be clear - you can still join the IFPA using a credit card via the paypal function. You don't need to be a paypal user - it's just like doing anything else online with a credit card and is also completely safe. There has never been a time when you couldn't join the IFPA via credit card. I became a life member via credit card in July last year.
Please discuss this topic on footbag.org so that it can be laid out as efficiently as possible.
