Didn't play Thursday cause I noticed my throat hurt a little bit and thought I might be getting sick. Didn't play Friday cause I got sick. Runny nose, sore throat, achy: I guess a 4 mile run after 2 hours of footbag was too much for my post-mono body to handle. Ob la di, ob la da.

Still a bit sick, but surviving. There's some sore-throat-inducing-runny-nose-causing bug that's hitting up everyone on campus like a desperate hobo, so at least I'm not alone. I've been refining my Smash Melee skills in the meantime, and not doing much on top of that.
Yesterday was free cone day at Ben & Jerry's, so two of my friends and I went there. No one cared if you got back in line immediately, so we had 5 cones each. Yeah....

You're crazy, TJ.
Still no footbag, though I'm feeling very much great: no sore throat and just a bit of a runny nose. Now I'm faced with a dilemma: should I consider this just a matter of getting sick, or the remnants of mono? If the latter is the case, I will still need to take it easy for another week at least. Ho well.
Classes end tomorrow, and tonight Peter and I are going out spelunking again. Jolly good times.
Tomorrow is a big icecream contest, and we are participating. Then, at 5:15, there a floor event at Forest Park-- paddleboating! Score!

Yeah, I generally don't get sick much at all. Once or twice a year seems to be the average. This year has blown as far as that is concerned.
A bunch of people from our floor went paddleboating today. We had a grand old time. After that, we drove halfway across St. Louis to Fazoli's (wtf). For those that don't know, Fazoli's is like the McDonald's of italian: it's fast food.
Classes ended today! There are all these events going on for "Final Friday", the coolest coming up at midnight: Pink Floyd's album Dark Side of the Moon is gonna be played with The Wizard of Oz. For those that don't know, that album was made to fit perfectly with the movie, and most of the lyrics go hand in hand with what's happening on screen. I had heard about this a long time ago, so I'm excited to get to see it.

Getting healthy again. Pretty much nothing holding me down now: I went and ran a mile in the pouring rain yesterday and I feel fine today. The nose isn't even sniffly, but it's barely stuffed. I might play racquetball today or work out, but I'm gonna wait on footbag until at least tomorrow. I definately will not over-exert myself in the next couple month though.
I'd like to say I'm studying for finals, but most of my time has gone to reading German fairy tales, sudokus, and generally not accomplishing much. 'Ho well.

Felt fine today, so we went and played probably an hour of racquetball. I still feel fine. I really should study some for that physics test, which is tomorrow night.
I was at a funeral service for a friend of mine today. He died April 19th and no one knows why. They say "natural causes," but he had had a really weird cough that day and apparently was frothing near the end. He was found without a pulse, eyes open face-up on the floor.
I didn't know him super well; I took fencing last semester with him. I just hate how everyone cries all the time. The program even had one of my favorite quotations: "Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened." Then they played all this tear-jerking music and really pumped your emotions. I hate funerals. They're so depressing.

Dear blog,
Back to healthy, but in a "what's around the next corner" sort of way. I still have a case of the sniffles, and with studying for finals taking precedence at the moment, footbag seems well established as wishful thinking. Every night I go to bed thinking, "I'm gonna play tomorrow," but I never find the time (or maybe I never make the time?). I'm kinda sad because I know that I'm not getting any better and really have fallen behind everyone I wanted to not feel inferior to. I've never been good at failing, and this is like a marathon in which I just collapsed into a walk for the last ... year. School has taken more time than I could possibly have imagined, but with Summer coming, I have high hopes for improvement and healthy exercise. I think the stress-free, sleep-filled Summer will pave the way for my activities, but twists and turns seem to come up quite often.
I can only hope.
((I have always held responsibility and dependibility as one of the fundamental characteristics I find in people I like. I realized today a second: moderations.))

Played today for the first time since April 19th. This blog has degenerated into bitching about illness, but hopefully that will come to an end soon.
Tomorrow is another final, and the last unimportant one. Tuesday from 8 to 10 am and Wednesday from 10:30 to 12:30 are the trials by fire.
Back to footbag though. I played for 30 to 40 minutes, and did about as well as I expected, by which I mean to say "not good." I started off sucking hard, but I was getting back into it by the end. I managed 17 contacts of mirage > legover > repeat, which is pretty good for 2 weeks off. I also did like 12 contacts of two clippers per side, which isn't horrible but definitely not up to par. The biggest issue I can see is that I still don't have great control over my flip clippers. I can catch them and get where I need, but they need improvement before I can work on better things.
I can't wait to go home. Mostly, I can't wait to not have to think and work hard and deal with people I don't like and never want to see again (namely, my roommate). Bittersweet though: there's a lot I like here, too.

Played footbag on Monday. It was enjoyable, of all things. It's nice to have no worries-- just play whenever and however long as I want.
I was gonna play today (Tuesday), but then my dad came home and made me spaghetti for dinner. I couldn't be like, "fuck no! I'm gonna go play footbag." I had the pasta, then, since I knew I would be too full to play footbag for a couple hours and thus footbag wasn't gonna happen, I went and played frisbee golf with Brian. We tied at two under each.
Tomorrow I definitely wanna kick. I can't believe I missed my opportunity today.
I'm playing Oblivion now, by the way. Very pretty game... I just hope it doesn't absorb my life.

I hate how video games have a way of enveloping one's life. I am hoping the same thing about FF XI.SandWraith wrote: I'm playing Oblivion now, by the way. Very pretty game... I just hope it doesn't absorb my life.
I wish I could eat spaghetti made by my mom. Her food is the best.

Kicked today around noon, and almost kicked again later in the day. Perhaps I can muster the mental endurance to do that tomorrow.
Been doing-- surprise!-- lots of consecutive clippers and a bit of whirls. I don't want to leave off from the clippers until I can do 40 contacts of clippers without it being a lucky occurrence. I set up a square using a wall, a squeegee, an ice pick, and a broom. I then proceeded to work on my clipper consistency within this square, so that I have to have complete control over my positioning and location. I am back to getting 10 same side clippers pretty well, but I will not be straying too far from this routine until my consistency is way up there.
And oblivion is good. I'm not getting that into it because I'm a stealth character and can't find any lockpicks anywhere. The damn thieves guild is hard to find, so I'm forced to steal from unlocked areas, but then I can't sell my stuff cause it's "hot"-- you can only sell that stuff to a fence from the guild.

um, I tried to figure out how to tell you that I think you are getting into it, and why, but I kept deleting the sentences and was left with nothing. So there.
good work on the clippers
good work on not being sick anymore

I played footbag around noon again today-- woke up, gave my mom a ride to work, kicked, showered, then went to my orthodontist appointment (my retainer broke).
Lots of clipper work. I can see improvement back towards where I was in April. I hit 10+ ss clipper quite a bit and even bsos'ed it. Did some whirls and ducking as well, only to discover that my ducking is suck-- no article necessary: it's just suck. I also found out yesterday that I can do strongside reverse swirls pretty well. My weakside has always sucked, but maybe I can figure out a way to incorporate that and clippers together. It'd be pretty shwag to be able to do ss clipper > swirl > repeats.
Later in the day, I kicked with Brian as well. That's right: I kicked TWICE today. Suck that, TJ.
