here is my lame vid I made for anz. Its 1up-2up patterns

http://www.footbag.org/media/570/juggli ... 1up2up.wmv

sometimes it gets a little ugly, but its because one of my juggling ball's panel busted and it is very mishaped, you can see it in the vid, the plastic inner sack is exposed

Awesome Anssi :)
Juggling is really fun. It's a good step down from footbag (definately in no way compares, but a great substitute if your legs are fucked up!)

I figured out shuffle a couple days ago. Thanks to Ian I found the trick on the Wildcat site. I think when I am better I want to make a similar site. Juggling is so awesome; it's really exciting to be in that stage where you're learning new tricks every day. I wrote a PM with some tips on shuffle, so maybe this will help someone else too, though just looking at the site was enough for me:
Erik Chan wrote:It came really naturally on my one side (hence I could do the one toss), but flipside was a problem. So what I noticed when I learned it (I've done about 27 tosses each side since learning it a bit ago) is that while I am tossing the one ball diagonally down I am already letting go with a couple fingers, preparing to grab the one ball from the "columns".

If you dissect the trick it becomes a lot easier to understand, and therefore perform. Remember that the outside ball of the "columns" only goes straight up and down, and that the other two are basically just going around in a circle (or semi circle, since you're cutting that angle with the diagonally toss).
I LOVE this pattern, and I started doing an alternating variation, where I just alternate sides; it feels SO good! Everything I can do is so boring compared to it; I can't wait to learn some more! I'm going to make another video soon too, though I still find my combos pretty boring. Does anyone have any tips for links? It still feels like drills; I find it hard to move directly from trick to trick without bailing to cascade or tennis.

Yep.

Learn Mill's Mess.

Alternating shuffle is a fun one.

did clawed mills mess once, a little fluke-ish. Clawed false shower is tough! Got about 8 contacts of Box, super stoked on that. I'm becoming more familiar with juggling and making "runs". Go juggling!

I learned a lot of 1-up 2-up patterns all at the same time, because they're all so similar. I think that W, Tennis, and Half-Shower are around the same level too. Then I think I learned Shower, which probably took me the longest of everything I've learned so far. Reverse Cascade is also the same and it's fun.

Whatever you want, but Half Shower, Crossed arm reverse cascade and Reverse Cascade may be good for you.

*I've bought me a fifth juggling ball, and I've already found plenty of new meanings for the expression "hit the head to the wall"...*

I've been too intimidated to try any new tricks lately because it takes too much thinking and step-by-step, but tonight I did a couple combos that felt crazy. Basically I can usually only do tricks between cascade or tennis, and never really trick to trick to trick. But today I hit Box > Shower > Shuffle both sides (beesauce too I think), and I hit Box > Shuffle > Box > Shuffle both sides. This one was pretty tough, and it really worked my flip Box (starting toss 'midstring' (out of cascade)), which I could pretty much never do midstring before. And when I say Box, I mean as many rotations as I happened to do before I decided to do Shuffle...so probably 3-4 rotations each. Only one of Shuffle each for those drills though. I think I did Shuffle out of all of my other tricks too.

What are some neat combos that you guys do?
I still feel really limited :?

Inspired by the couple clips of Dylan juggling on that Aussie vid I hit rubenstein's>half mess>rpt. An easy combo but it's nice starting to throw rubenstein's ALL over the place!! I've also been doing alternating windmills and rubenstein's -- mad fun. Justin just got a camera so I'll see if I can throw together a vid of my juggling. :) (oh not to mention RCS's footbagging!! muhahahaha)

Hey Sam, do you have any tips for Half Mess?
I do the underhand toss and then catch the next ball underhand and toss it up and over, but then I get lost...I think I'm having trouble with the non-underhand part. I catch the wrong balls in the wrong hands or something.

I think I found the pattern. It's like you do one-hand columns alternating arching directions on the inside, and you do underhand alternating arching directions on the outsides with the other hand? Is this right?

I think I understand it but I can't seem to figure it out as the balls are in the air. Rah! Can you explain the trick?

Sorry, Erik, I'm really bad at both breaking down and understanding juggling tricks verbally and otherwise. The way I learned half mess was thinking of combing reverse cascade and mill's mess. I personally think mill's mess is a good trick to learn before this (and really just the best trick to learn -- sooo fundamental).

Oh really?
I assumed from the name that Half Mess would be easier. Mill's Mess is easier? I will try that later then. I think I was ALMOST there, and I MAY have got 2 rotations, but I'm thinking that since I don't really know that I probably didn't.

I tried to learn swoop and something else too... The dropping is tough! I kept wanting to toss like shuffle. So I gave up on that for now too. There's too much thinking required for juggling :p It feels like doing math exercises.

I did some clawing though, and got a few rotations of cascade (I guess?), so that's new and exciting, and I tried some more behind the back tosses, but those seem really inconsistant still. Oh yeah, I also started doing a sort of reverse tennis move...it's like tennis but it's under the other two balls and crossing arms...sort of like what I think is Chop, but not every single toss? So then I also tried doing something like reverse tennis > tennis > tennis > reverse tennis...like a fake around the world sort of thing... Does the reverse tennis trick have a name?

EDIT: Oh, no wait...not reverse tennis > tennis...I mean reverse tennis but ending in a toss that goes all the way over the other two balls and then tennis back the other way to reverse tennis again.

I think it's just those guys.

Can someone give tips for False moves, like when you move you hand instead of throwing a ball? Is just Fake 1-up 1-up the best way to skool them? I haven't got any False moves yet, except Orbit.

Erik,

It's not so much that one is easier than the other (I find them to be of about equal difficulty), it's that learning Mill's Mess and learning reverse cascade (on both sides) gives you all of the components you need for half mess.

Hey (Sam),
I was watching the Wildcat Mill's Mess demo and thought I would just try the trick without really thinking about it, since he says that for most of the tricks on the site anyway, and I think I may have got it?

Basically I'm doing reverse cascade alternating windmills... I REALLY don't know if I'm actually doing Mill's Mess or not, but from his description at the bottom of the page it sounds like it might be. It looks a little different in his video, but that might be because of my sloppy form?

Anyway, I would like to know if I'm doing Mill's Mess. Here's a video of what I'm actually doing:
http://www.hackrifice.com/marita/060511 ... 20mess.wmv

EDIT: or is this just alternating windmills? :?
