Abshire or a Homemade?

Post by moparman »

Heres my problems:
I am not a good stitcher, the best I can do is a 4 panel that ends up having holes in the corner.
The best trick I can do is a Flying clipper.
I dont have lavers.

And heres my question:
With those things noted, should I save up and by an Abshire, or a Home-Stitched bag? Every time I stitch the corners have holes, and my filler SuckS for setting, and is hard to control. It will take a month and one bag sale (if i can get one without holes) to get 35$. What should I do?

What kind of shoes do you have first of all? Don't get a 32 right away though.

I have a pair of un modded (not allowed to) osiris skate shoes, and have been using a crocheted bag. I laced them good. just cant unstitch or cut them.

Maybe a sandbag from freedomfootbag.com. I hope other people can recommend other bags (if any) for skate shoes!

dude i pm'ed you a few examples last week... i would buy a teddy bag personally... you obviously prefer sand as a filler... for $12 you can't beat it.... then you don't have to worry bout saving $35...
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!?!?

you can buy them from shredzilla here:

dont get an abshire. Get a bag from someone else. Freedom footbags has great ones. Dont get a 32 until you are sure you want to spend 30 bucks on a footbag.

Mopar, welcome to footbag.

I would invest your $35 in a pair of rod lavers off ebay before I spent it on a footbag, if I was you. I also think the advice to get a teddy monhollon footbag or mr sandman for starters is good. I prefer 32 panel footbags over either of those, but for someone just getting started making sure all their kicks are solid, and starting on delays, the sand-filled footbags can be more up your alley. While you're training with those, do some reading, look at pictures, talk to people, and choose a stitcher to make you a good 32 panel bag when you're ready.

yeah, lavers first. they will make your improvement quicker and smoother. then i would get a handmade bag (sand bag) and in a month or 3, then get a 32.

Never tried those teddy bags, but Mr. Sandbags are tried and true for beginners. Go for Rod Lavers as your first investment into freestyle.

buy one of mine, they're homemade too! :) check my sig haha

lets get something straight: abshire bags are made at home- at his home, every day, by the man himself.

they arent some machine produced or amateur made bullshit, they're a meticulous and identical product developed over a decade and a half, with some customizable variations. on top of that, he offers a new feature on freedomfootbags.com where you can order the bag pre-broken in, (aka MUSHY). the process is stunningly gentle on the bag... your custom bag.

if you were inclined to try a bag, buy a mushy abshire, itll save you the the destruction that 6 weeks of being a beginner can do to a bag before its even broken in. you'll get a 32 panel experience unequalled in teh stitching world ;)

heres my beautiful abshire T50:

Mr. Sandmans were my favourite bags.
They cost, like, what? $8? (less in bulk, I think) and last forever.
Definately go for a Mr. Sandman, and definately save up for Lavers.

I have decided. I have been trying to make good 6 panels out of grits. It pretty much worked, but im not sure if there good enough. I am just gonna get some lavers when i get the money by selling them at school, then get a mushy mini abshire. by then illbe out of the clipper stall problem stage....lol Thanks for all the help.
