Hey im trying to figure out lodging and stuff for the event
and i was wondering when the event would start in the morning.
cause if its really early it would probably be best for me to come
up the night before cause the drive is about four and a half hours.
And also do you know about what time it will end?

preliminary event times (from my own noggin), subject to change of course:

We have the venue as early at 10AM on both Saturday and Sunday. That being said, the event competitions might begin like so:

Saturday (competition day): 11 AM or so to 3/4pm. Results ceremony that same eve at venue (4:30-530pm) or at Saturday night's player's party with dinner.
Sunday: Depending on the level of "partying" that has occured the prior evening, players will arrive at the event site by about 11AM and hopefully shred well into the evening. Again, we have the site earlier than 11, but who knows whether people will be awake enough to use it by then.

To add to that, I believe we're having the 4-Square and Novice competitions on Sunday.

Chad, you should see if you can spend the night here on Friday night. The Intermediates will almost definitely compete first on Saturday.

Lodging info:

Some things to consider:
-Santa Cruz is a tourist town. In the summer, prices at local hotels go way (way) up, and they get booked quickly.
-The campground doesn’t raise it’s prices during the summer, but they get booked quickly– So book as far in advanced as possible.
-The KOA and Manresa campgrounds are across the street from each other, both close to the beach, and both just minutes from the event location.
-The first 12 or so people who are traveling the farthest get first dibs on staying at Jeremy's pad for FREE! Contact him (Senor Grommet on Modified) for more info.

There are a few options, so keep reading.

Tent-only camp site:

Manresa State Beach

Tent camping for $25 per night, no tax! Located just across the street from the KOA.

JUVENILES (those under 18 years of age), not camping with a parent or legal guardian must have WRITTEN permission to camp in the park. Permission letters must include the name of the park, the name of the juvenile, the dates they may stay and the name, address, phone number and signature of the person's parent or legal guardian. The parent must be reachable at all times during the juvenile's visit. Children 14 years of age and under may not camp without a parent present during the stay.

The thing about this place compared to the KOA is that tent camping is WAY cheaper here. In fact, if you decided to BUY a tent and stay at Manresa, your total with tax, shipping, and a two night's stay could be the same as if you stayed in a KOA Kabin for two nights. I'm thinking about the $79 tent here. So if I were you, I would pay the same amount of money, and stay at Manresa after buying a tent (which you could have shipped to my house so it's waiting for you when you arrive), and leave Santa Cruz with a new tent. Just an idea.

Example of a reservation for 3 people in a 1 room Kabin (as seen in above picture)
Thursday $83.1 including tax
Friday $98.5 including tax

Sunday $83.1 including tax

When making a reservation, one must PAY for the 1st night at time of reservation. There IS a 7 DAY cancellation policy so if you cancel the reservation more than a week before the check in date, you will be refunded the 1st night’s cost.

Tent info:
If you are bringing a tent:

Thursday $57.2 with tax
Friday $72.60 with tax
Saturday $72.60 with tax
Sunday $57.2 with tax

$6 each extra person
10 pm is when the camp’s “quiet time” starts.

Here is some info a hostel in the area. I don't personally recommend it. It's cheaper, but the hours you can enter the place are limited. Between 10a-5pm the place is closed and on lock down so you can't get to your stuff. You can't enter the place (even if you're already checked in) after 11pm; it's an 11pm curfew.

Santa Cruz Hostel

Maximum group size is 6. Groups of 7 or more must call the Hostel to make reservations.

Adults (18+) $18.00
Youths (12-17) $14.00

Please read the following information about the hostel:
-Guests 18 or older who are not Hostelling International members must pay a $3.00 per night temporary membership fee.
-All linens are included in the above prices, though towels may be rented at $.50 each. Sleeping bags are not allowed.
-Check in time is between 5pm -8pm. Late arrivals can register up to, but no later than, 10pm.
-Government issued picture identification is required to check in.
Check out is by 11:00 am each morning. The hostel is closed from -11:00am-5:00pm each day and access is not allowed during this time.
-Curfew and quiet hours begin each night at 11pm and guests are required to be inside the hostel at this time.
-Alcohol is prohibited at the Hostel.
-Off-street parking is available for a small fee to registered guests. Space is limited. Please do not park on Main Street (you will be ticketed)
-To change or cancel a reservation, please notify the Hostel by contacting a staff member or by emailing us at least 48 hours prior to noon on your arrival date to avoid being charged.

Nate asked me if these are prize money events, and if not why we are charging for people to compete. Good questions. This is a prize money competition. All of the money you pay to compete will be put in the pot for the winners.

There might be a little extra money put in there too, but I'm not sure if it will work out yet. But chances are good.

Edit: YEAH! Idaho will be representing at our event!

If you are interested in staying at the KOA campgrounds, PLEASE contact them immediately because I am very worried they will fill up completely and you'll be SOL (either sleeping in a tent outside my house/in the bushes, or camping on the Manresa State Beach (which isn't too bad)) See above for contact details. Make your arrangements now!

I have no idea how many are KOAing it (best option), but I've heard from at least 2 parties who are hoping to beach-camp it up. Many out-of-staters are probably staying at my house.
