David Blane
Does anyone care about this guy being underwater for a week?
I think its totally stupid but am interested in it anyway for some reason.
I'll definitly try to watch some of it on TV tonight.
He must be all pruny by now.

I think that maybe he is doing it for publicity and will try it again later I think this for many reasons.
He will be ashamed If he does not do it successfully
He will recieve twice as many viewers the second time because of the first viewers telling them.(one of the first rules in stage performing is that the audience LOOVES to see you screw up.
Just for having another show, he will get more views then just having one show

well, bad news for blane...he was still like 2 minutes from the record when rescue divers got him out of the chains and bubble. have to be honest...it always pleases me when people who make outrageous claims (and make a living completely through deceit) fail miserably.

I heard David Blane could leap over city blocks in one bound.
That's pretty impressive.

Actually some of the things Blaine does is pretty impressive. Not the "magic" stuff, but the physical and mental feats. Like being buried alive in a glass case under water for 7 days straight, standing in a block of ice for almost 3 days, and standing on a 90 ft. pole for 3 days without food, water, or sleep.
EDIT:
Some stat corrections: The record for holding breath underwater is 8:58. David held his breath for 7:08.
He was underwater for over 7 days before he tried to break the breath holding record. This is what his hands looked like afterwards:

Actually he does that so he gets the people at the correct angle to make it look like he floats about 2 inches off the ground. It's pretty easy to do. He actually keeps one foot on the ground and lifts the other a few inches off the ground, but at a certain angle it looks like he floats.
The cameras record the people's reaction, then later they bring in a crane and lift him a few feet off the ground and do some slick editing by adding in the people's reactions with the crane footage. If you watch the videos, you'll never see the people's faces when they show him floating a few feet off the ground, only their backs.
