Bags You've Made
yep. an easier way is to gather the pent all the way, or pretty tight, from both sides. then loop the strings together, like the first part of tieing your shoe, and loosen it and do it from all sides, till your satisfied. you can flip it over, and check your pent size from the outside. that way, its real even.

could you post a pic brinard? I can visualize what your saying a little bit. I might just start over again seeing as the stitch on one of my hex's broke and I pulled the pents and the hex off the finished one.

yea pull it a little tighter than you want then work an even amount of gather around to each panel... also there are mixed reviews on this technique that i use but i have two different sized cheat tools that i use to gather around so the gather is EXACTLY the same on each panel... works great for me and since i am a perfectionist on the verge of OCD it makes me feel better

bro,
-just stitch around until you are basically back where you started
-then pinch the last stitch and material with your left hand and pull on the thread with your right
-the material will start to bunch
-it will bunch more where your last stitch and fingers are so kinda pull the bunches/gather around towards where you started (your first stitch)
-do this until it is even all the way around
-tie off and move on
hope this helps...

uhm, yo dudes, your gathering is wierd, i gather every seam for it self. so it needs a good eye but it works good for me, plus i dont get the gather at the end thing, when i do it the first 2 seams get gethered then the thread gets stuck and wont move on... so i think its a good idea too also mention the alternatives. i gather every side when i´m down with it.
maybe one of you could add me too msn or icq and explain too me. would be appprechiated.
also,(i know i´m late, but i need to sleep too) i think the gather on these few panels looked a bit uneven too me. but go on, check out how it looks maybe its just the way you placed it for the pic. be sure too show us the final bag!

I'm gonna have to agree with mahhkohh, thats what was happening to me! When I get back to stitching it l8er today I'm gonna try gathering each side when I get done with'em.
mahhkohh, The gather was way off of being even, I was only able to get 4 sides gathered so 1 side on each of the hex's didn't get gathered.
I'm gonna take my time today and make sure it looks good!

ill try n post pics later whn i start a new bag,,
but for now
i stitch 1 pent at a time. when i return to where i started on the pent, i gather it all the way. then loosen i t until its uniform like the others. i also should say i start my stitching by putting 2 hexes together, and then do the pent. then on the last hex, my starting thread and finishing thread are right beside eachother.
like i said; ill edit this and post some pics when i get started at 10 or so

I have one more question, I have half of my first bag done and was wondering: how do you do the last half of the bag?
