I'm studying Spinning and Ducking right now, and I'm getting a decent idea about this through watching vids, but just wondering if I could get a general consensus about what a good height is for setting the bag, and ducking under it from clipper. Also wondering pretty much the same thing for spinning.
I put others, because someone may have a question about diving or weaving height set, in which case that could be answered as well. Toe sets for ducking could also be covered. My primary focus is spinning/ducking clippers, but this page could be referenced later for more advanced versions of these concepts if it doesn't get lost too far down the thread list. Thanks!

[set height: spinning/ducking]

right now im also trying to learn spinning and ducking. i found that when i first started to learn spinning my sets where high, but now that i have gotten better at them i am spinning faster and my sets arent as high. they are still above my head which i think is too high, but its getting there.
same goes with ducking. i think the best way is to set is high and then get comfortable to where you know where it is and dont have to hit the ceiling with the bag to duck or spin it.

With ducking you want the bag to peak just above your upper neck. With spinning I like my sets to peak at about upper chest hight. I guess it depends on style and preference though.

I always try and set the bag nose/mouth high for ducking. Be sure and set the bag straight up. Move your head/neck, don't angle the set. Practise setting it that way from toe or clipper over and over before you even try ducking. When you finally feel confident to actually try ducking the bag make sure to spot the bag immediately before and after you make the ducking motion with your head/neck.
There's a lot more play on height for spinning. For gyro sets, I find that belly button height is optimal. Ideally you want to spot the bag right at the peak as you come around with the dex. For something like spinning ducking clipper, obviously the nose height or maybe even slightly higher will work best. With "core" spinning moves I try to use the nose height and I find this works well when I try to do combos like: spinning clip > diving clip > spinning clip > zulu clip, ect. The set is the SAME height for each trick.

height of spinning moves
I'm wondering if there is a general rule about how high the set should be in order to be considered clean for spinning moves.
I've been trying to set the bag at about chest level, but before I perfect it at a certain height I'm wondering...... what the perfect height is.

It depends what spinning move you're doing. When doing scorpion's tail for example I'd suggest a low set just above waist high and a very quick spin.I'm wondering...... what the perfect height is.
If it's just a spinning clipper set where you want! but if it's too high you might end up having to wait before you do your clipper.
