New mod!?

Okay, so I (like many nuubs im sure) was reluctant to mutilate my leather lavers. So I set out to find an alternative to devouring the leather. And i just might have.

I had some rubberey griptape that is used on steps, and the back is adhesive. I cut it into tiny strips and adhered it to my shoe, and immediately started nailing back to back clippers, like I never could. You would think griptape would rip up the bag, but it is made of a soft rubber material that sticks fine, but doesnt damage the bag. Instead of sand on tape, it is made of little rubber fibers. The brand that sells it is 3M.

Intriguing, post some pictures - I'd like to see it, even if as an alternative to tubing mods around the edges.

Nelson, cool idea. if it works for you, keep it up. Rubber does sound pretty grippy for facile, and you could even cut it out in cool patterns to make your shoe look awesomer.

well for me the main reason i mod my shoes is so that i can better feel the bag, and not to make it less like a sock, anyway thats my opinion, but whatever works for you is cool i guess

Well I spent an hour searching 3M's website so your out of luck for product pics, but tomorrow i'll post pics of the tape on the shoes and my (cut up) strip of the stuff.

Interesting!

Though usually you want less layers between you and the bag when you want to be feeling the bag.

With leather lavers that have the leather still on they will be pretty stiff as is so putting some grippy tape on there may make it more better than it makes it worse.

I searched around some also on 3M's website, no luck. It may or may not be there, but I can't find it. Post a pic of what it looks like so I can see the potential in it. If you could find what the product is actually called, I might order myself some if it looks worth it. Thanks and great thinking on your part !

I'd like to try it, I was considering adding a tubing mod to help with my clippers (I have a tendency to angle my feet too much, letting the bag slide off) but if this works, then it could give me just that much more that I need to starting hitting them better.

It may have been invented to bypass cutting up leather lavers, but I think it'd be even better used in conjunction. I'm going to check this out.

After I took these, i put some on the toe, and now i barely ever miss the catch on my ATW's!

I think he means when you set it off the shoe. Does it stick to the shoe like it doesnt want to come off?

no, no. Not at all. The tape doesn't actually stick to the bag, like with an adhesive, it just catches it and stops it from rolling or sliding off, unless your foot is reeealy slanted.

otherwise, you dont notice a difference while playing except now oyu can stick krazy moves
