Proposal for a new footbag game (footbag ball)

Post by Zeb Jackson »

alright so i was at kyle hewitts house and we were just spit balling around, and had an idea for a soccer/rugby style footbag game. were the goal is to get the footbag into the opposing teams goal to score points, and then the team who gets to X amount of points wins or something like that.

we think that there should be no tackling invlolved, but you can try to steal the bag, and if you drop it you play it like freesbee golf to were you give it to the team that doesnt have posession of the bag. and to make it easier to play you could play with a huge soft footbag (like a dirty jiuce facile) or something.

when you have possesion you can try to walk with it (but of course it would be kinda slow) or you could pass it around like.

you would have like 3 people to a team.

i personally think this is a cool idea!
what do you guys think about this? :)

Has anyone seen that asain game simular to this? The bag had a feather thing at the end. Two teams with two nets, and the bag couldn't thouch the ground. You "dribbled" and passed the bag to the other players to move it across the court. It was all indoor. It seemed pretty sweet and fun looking.

what do you use for goals? and what happens when the bag is dropped, toe pickups? wouldn't want to use a nice bag for this..but it sounds pretty fun.

when you drop it would be like ultimate frisbee and the oposing team would the the bag. toe pickups would probably be illegal, goals would be like soccer goals but smaller, and the could would be smaller than a regular court as well

That sounds SUPER fun!! I want to try it now too!!

The feather game is called Yin Tze (in Cantonese) in Hong Kong and China. Someone posted a video of Jackie Chan playing this in one of his movies a while back. I have it somewhere and can upload it if nobody else has a link.

this game sounds dope, but it would be 10 times better with a net bag. if you bother to learn how to kick one, you'll know what i mean...

I think I've once read somewhere that some Finns had such a footbag-football game at some promoting happening.

I don't know if there'll be serious competitions but at least it would be a heck of a fun off-shred game. :)

I've been playing this game for years with my friends. We call it Winning Eleven Footbag. We play 5 on 5 on lacrosse nets. You must keep the bag in the air the entire time, passing between teammates. You can do kicks or stalls. We've had some fun games!
