n00bs away!
I've been circle kicking for years, with basic toe delays and "jester" flying clipper kicks and until recently had no idea what freestyle was. I bought lavers a couple days ago and I'm loving them! Lace mod, and I'm gonna cut 'em up soon. I had my first group session with the lavers today, and I hit a few mirages, inside delays are coming fairly consitantly as are outside delays and thinking about toe delays is a thing of the past. I hit a couple clippers, and a couple of the delays on the bottom of the shoe behind you. I LOVE LAVERS! My hopes for the very near future is consistant inside/outside delays, consistant clippers, mirages, butterlies and the delay on the bottom of the shoe as well as perfecting my kicks.

There's a small group of us on the campus here, and I must say the hours between sessions are hard! I've been thinking about shredding 24/7
I'll be happy if I can get my goals, which I feel confident I can fairly quicly. When I enjoy something as much as I do footbag, I get better fast. I ordered some footbags this weekend as well, should be here soon. My 8 panel dirtbag is deader than dead, and still leaking... Thanks for the props, I just took a big dive from circle kicking into the freestyle world and it's a rush!

Damn no footbags in the mail today... So with todays session the inside delays are coming along nicely, even hit a few with the left foot. I REALLY need to work on left foot, kicks (inside toe and outside) are perfect, as are toe delays, but anything else feels akward. I almost hit a few flipside mirages today, and the regular mirages are coming along nicely as well. Flapper delays are coming, but the dismount is hard. I think I need to work on getting out of the flapper delay with a rake. Flying clippers (kicks) are decent and controlable, and I discovered that forehead delays are easy. I want to learn spins and ducks, my few attempts were pretty bad but I think I'll get them down if I keep trying. I replaced the Laver insoles with some Dr. Scholes for athletics specifically, and I love them! Feels like a completely different shoe. I'm going to remove the outer leayer of leather within a few hours, and see how that works out. Man, footbag rules!

Good to see you're so enthusiastic about footbag!! Let me just say that the same feeling you have now, I still have almost a year later! It's so much fun becoming good at something you love.
If I could give you a quick tip, you may want to focus a bit more on inside stalls, and toe stalls, rather than outside and flapper. The only reason I say this is because the entire foundation of footbag is centered around these two moves. Good to see you have mirage going. Have you tried legover and clipper? It's also good that you're working on flipside. That's huge too. Good Luck!

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, I've been trying the clippers, but probably not enough. I can clipper and kick it back up but have trouble getting the delay. I haven't really put much though into legovers but I'll give them a try tomorrow. I think the inside stalls and clippers will come quicker as soon as I cut the slippery leather off of these here lavers...

remember - a clipper delay is just an inside delay but instead of in front of the support leg, its behind it.
also, make sure to reallly feel that ankle crank.

Thanks for the tips. Yesterday I was bored in my room and just practiced inside delays back and forth (left right) until I was dizzy
and they started to feel more natural, including the left which normally feels completely un-naturaly except for toe delays and kicks. I even hit a few clippers, although I didn't attempt very many. I got a new bag yesterday and have yet to shred with it, we'll see how it works today. Oh, I cut the insude and outside of both shoes a few days ago with no problems, and not only do they look better they obviously play better as well!

Yay for newbs
Hey,
I just saw your blog today and had a great time reading it. I started a blog like this almost a month ago for newbs to come together and discuss our newbness, but sadly it got off to a rough start when school started owning me for a while. But now that freedom is just around the corner it's going to be up and running at full power. You should come check it out sometime, maybeeee even post once in a while...? (just throwing that out there
). I understand you have your own blog too so it's all good.
Either way I'll probably be checking your blog out often cuz we're about on the same page (though my inside stalls are probably way worse than yours).
Happy kicking,
Tricia

Had a pretty good session today, worked some more on insides and I even hit a couple of rakes.
Got a new bag, but I don't really like it... I think I need to give it a chance though and let it get fully broken in first. My kicks are getting a lot better as well, even though they were never really bad...
