Hmm... I'd love to come but I dont know if my parents would be cool with crashing on the floor, and seeing as they would come with me, I might not be able to come. Maybe we can get a motel room, but Idunno.

How far is it from Hackensack? (which sounds suspiciously like Hackysack)

Okay, everybody, here's the situation: Crash space is more limited this year than last. If you stayed with somebody last year, they may well have room for you again this year. You know who you were and you should know who to contact. Otherwise, we have reserved some double rooms at a nearby hotel, The Days Inn in Hillsborough, NJ, which is only about five minutes by car from the event site.

The telephone number for the host hotel is 908-685-9000, and you should ask for the rooms reserved for the Jersey Spike & Shred. They are $75.00 a night, and thats a pretty good discount over their regular rate, about the best we could do. Book your rooms soon, since they will only be reserved until May 19.

Ben,

Last year, several shredders arrived on the Friday Evening before the tournament and we had a good jam at the Classic Car show on Main Street. That was one of my favorite parts, 'cause I love to kick it at that weekly car show (a couple thousand people just chillin' and checking out the vintage 'vettes and cobras, etc, on a nice warm summer evening) and I'm often playing there by myself, so it was cool to have several good circles there for a change. I think it began to rain though, so we took it inside. All the cars leave in a hurry if the weather turns bad. Those collectors don't like to get their vehicles wet.

Then, on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, there was plenty of shred all day long. Most of the freestyle competition took place on Monday, Memorial Day, as well as the award ceremony and such.

If its just lots of Shred you're after, come early (Saturday, Sunday, maybe Friday evening). But if by "good shredding and other crazy stuff" you mean competition, most of that will take place on Monday, Memorial Day.

Last year, most of the kickers hit the road shortly after the awards ceremony on Monday afternoon, so that will probably be the day with the least informal shred circle play.

The actual SHRED-30 event will be only one round, and held on Sunday rather than Monday, because shred scores are too difficult to calculate all between the actual competition and the awards ceremony which will follow very shortly there-after.

I guess space to crash is a bit too cramped for this event to blow out? There seems to be alot of people coming in from other states other than New Jersey and New York.

I just don't want to spend so much money on train fare from Somerville to NYC just to get the full experience for this event. Hopefully I can crash with somebody, either through hotel space or house space, to stay for all of Memorial Weekend.

this probably will sound stupid, but will there be alot of drugs? If so, I might not be able to come, but I dont really think my mom cares that much. I just dont want everyone there to be a pot head, thus giving her the wrong image.

It sounds awesome, i'd love to come!
