Demos for Schools

How could one set up a demo for a school?! I don't understand. Do you simply call up an elementary school and say: I think this is a positive thing for kids, and I'd like to show them?!

What's the pitch?! I'd totally do it for free and give the kids cards to give to their parents [and add B-day parties to the list of things we do

]

Do you let the kids try it? Do you just say: Hey-this is footbag-Watch!

How/who do you contact in the school? What do you say?

Why would you short sell yourself and do it for free? I used to think this way myself before I recieved the knowledge from a very experienced player. Doing work for free is nice, but how do you expect someone to take you seriously (in footbag) and like a professional if you don't ask for anything in return? You deserve money to do something such as a demo like that.

i agree with habitat, my physics teacher wants me to do a demo type thing soon and probably thinks im gunna do it for free, but i think not

One of the 5 or 6 fundamentals of sales, homes. Features vs. Benefits. People buy things for the benefits. Like side airbags on a car is a feature. Better safety and lower insurance premium are the benefits of that feature. 8-speaker surround sound is a feature. @$$kicking DVD watching experience is the benefit.

In our case...

Footbag has many features. What are the benefits? Think... Think... benefits.

Benefits for the kids?
Benefits for the parents?
Benefits for the school?

There's more than enough value in there. But I'll let you put a name on it.

When you pitch it, put everything in terms of the benefits for the kids, the parents and the school. I'm sure they don't give a rats ass about modified, the monthly comps, wacking off to vasek videos or a lot of the other crap some footbaggers may do.

What do they care about? Excerise for the kids. Healthy kids. Safe kids. Activities that keep kids out of trouble after school. Building self esteem. Discipline (hell yes footbag teaches this). Dedication. Learning.

The features of footbag have benefits to all of those. What are they? Think. You're smart, I want to see what you come up with.

Dude, do it for free :p Sure footbag players deserve to be paid, but I think that only applies if you're good enough to be professional (equivilent in skill to national level players of other sports, ie one of the best footbag players in your country) AND it's for a big enough crowd. If you're playing for 2000 people in a profitable event, you should expect payment, if your playing for your class at highschool, the teacher probably has to pay you out of his own pocket which isn't fair.

No, don't do anything for free if you don't HAVE to. Skill has nothing to do with getting paid to do something. I cannot count how many times I've heard of tiltless play getting paid bank, not guiltless/tripless. High level skill isn't necessary to perform demos, same goes for almost anything I can think of besides footbag.

To go back on topic check this out for some cool little tips, although not really a tutorial at all
