East Coast Footbag Championships 2006

Post by the Executioner »

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to announce the 2006 East Coast Footbag Championships, being held this year in College Park, MD on June 10, 11, 2006. This year we will be holding the event in conjunction with the DC Congress of Jugglers juggling convention. There will be a quality public show and as always quality partying. Should be great.
Info is up on footbag.org, and more info soon to come.
We will have some good guests this year. Our first confirmed out of towner is the legendary Disco Ninja Tuan Vu. On a personal note, this event marks the anniversary of my 20th straight year of footbag competition to the weekend, and I will be performing my last competitive footbag freestyle routine ever at this event, as well as performing my multi limbed juggling material at the public show. Should be a blast.
Keep your eyes open for updates.

anyone who is in the area would be fucking nuts not to attend this. Pete's show alone is worth the trip!

I SO wish I was close enough to attend Pete.

Congrats on 20 years of competing.
You were among the first that inspired me and opened my eyes to freestyle shred. Thank you.

Sorry I can't make it...

I wasn't planning on taking the time to make it to the event. BUT, I was requesting a time off form for the Steel City Shred Off and thought, what the hell, it's Irish's last performance ! So hopefully my time will be approved and I'll make a drive out that way. I'll try and get Brad & Bob to go with me, but no promises until I get their word.

What if I were to go, but not compete? Would I still be able to watch and stuff and be in downtime circles? I'm not good enough to compete yet, but I think it's a good experience for me to go, I might pick up a few things. So basically my question is can I go, not compete, just watch, and still shred with people?

Offside shred is the WHOLE reason I go. I've been to plenty of East Coast events, and I've never competed. The competition portion of events is usually 1/10 of the event, the other 9/10 is offside shred and hanging out with old/new friends. So yeah, try to make it out there, you'll pick up a new bag of tricks, more experience, and a whole new respect for the game.

Great! That's awesome! I'll do my best to convice my mom to take me all the way up the east coast then(it's going to be tough :? ).
I'm kind of new at this though, I just recently started freestyle footbag, so is there anything that I would have to do to go there? Any tickets or registration of some sort even if I'm not going to be competing? Or would I just show up and then be able to watch all of the events?

Show up, and enjoy the show.

Any type of registration usually takes place the first day, that is usually for competitors.. If there is any online registration needed, that is usually stated in the event info.

Etai,

This will be a great event to come and just watch, play in circles and meet lots of cool people. We are holding the event in conjunction with a juggling convention, so that'll be twice the amount to watch. Plus, there will be a public theater show on Saturday night with some great juggling/comedy acts and maybe some footwork too.

We will be posting more info soon, as far as lodging, schedules, ect. Keep an eye on footbag.org event listings. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me here. Hope you can make it.

New old skool confirmation for this event: Eric "Iron Man" Wulff. I'm going to try and talk him into bringing his lavers, and wife Carol. :)

Say, for those of us who hope to fly in, to which airport ought we fly?

This is gonna be sweet.

baltimore, dulles, or regan national airports are all about the same distance so any of the 3 would work to fly in to.

I want to make it for this really bad, but I just don't think I can manage it because I have to take the ACT's on Saturday the 10th. Plus I will be short on money from going to spike and shred and the montreal jam.
