blind stitch help and tips

can someone help me with blind stitching? ive looked at videos and pics but i can never seem to do it right. thanks

i would use the search tool to find the most info on this...

but i never did a blind stitch... i do the loose stitch way.
stitch the bag normaly from the inside and when you get to the final stitch(final pent), just use a longer thread and stitch it but dont do any gather. keep it loose. then flip the bag through the stitch. then just fill it and pull it closed. then knot, push it in and you're done! seems a bit complex maybe but i havent screwed one up yet. 40+ bags done.

make sure your holes are lined up, and spaced good. it should look like that above, and then you pull it tight, and they all disappear. for your final stitch, which you hide

if you start your pent by attaching two hexes, youll end on a hex that will tie to your anchored (first) stitch.

so tie your strings together, and tuck em im that bleed hole. they will stay down, if you did it right.

I'm with pete, completely stitch your footbag while it's inside out, but leave the last edge INCREDIBLY loose. that way, you can still flip and fill the bag, even though you've completed the stitching. stitch, flip, fill, cinch, ba-da-bing.

i have trouble with the final knot too can someone share some advice? my 4 panels are starting to look decent except for the last knot.

when the bag is inside out and the last stitch is done, put the needle and the other side of the "wire" IN the bag by a bleed hole. now that you know that you have everything to make it clear, you just need to turn it inside out once again, fill it, and make the final knot like a normal knot. after, just need to pull on the last stitched panel of the bag to make it round

ill try to do something with my scanner do show you a pic of it today .. i only have 2 more panels to stitch on my bag

ill try to make a better explaination with these pics

the (1) is the final stitch ...
the (2) is a bleed hole that you pass the wire into it
the (3) is where the needle comes out after getting into (2)

i tried to show the path of the needle ..

then reverse it ...

in red, that the path of the wire IN the bag
in yellow, the 2 final wire ...

then, you just need to fill it and then a normal knot, it will go insde the bag without any problems

This is the most helpfull picture I have found of the blind stitch. I learned how to do it just from this one pic. Maybe it can help anyone else trying to do it.

i do the loose stitch technique as for the final stitch, i make a single knot and pull it down to the bleed hole, until the panel has a bit more gather than i want (since the knot will sink in a bit) then once the knot is tight i pull a little more gather so the knot is further away from the bag, but still in the same place on the knot. then i make a few knots around the original knot until satisfied, then cut some of the excess thread. now the bag is done, you can pop the knot in with the end of the needle through the bleed hole, and it will sink into the panel through massaging, break-in.

Is your first hole from inside the bag, like up through the fabric?

Yea sorta, I make a stitch through the short sides of my last 2 hexes then flip the bag inside out. When you start the blind, the needle & thread is already through those hexes so you can just start stitching the hex to the pent. I'm not sure how other people do it, this is just my way. Hope that made sense.

im making a 2 panel bag, i have done most of the blind stitch but i need help with the final knot, people have been saying thing about putting it through the bleed hole but there are no bleed holes on 2 panel bags, how do i hide the knot?

ben there are a couple ways to do it...

id suggest, for a 2 panel where the consistency of gather isnt AS important, you go down thru a panel with the needle, come up BETWEEN the panels, tie a big fat knot, and push it back thru.

knead the bag in your hands for a second or two for the knot to tighten up against the inside of the bag. as long as your knot is big enough, itll be copasetic.

*side note, this is nowhere near how i blind stich my 32s, but it's almost impossible to explain. i could try maybe in the morning if someone really wants me to

maybe a short vid would help
