coolio.
Had a big kick last night. All drilling. I wrote them down but I forget. I remember drilling drifters for hours - some of the harder drills I worked on were clip set dlo>smoke>pdx drif rep and ps whirl>pdx drif rep. Neither particularly hard but it felt like I made some improvements and they were good at drilling some other weak components/links as well.
Also came really close to breaking my tripless record - which I think is 26. Not enough variety though. Hopefully will play again tonight.
Also Beaconsfield was on the front page of today's mockary again. Argh - so frustrating. Actually this is actual news - so it's the fourth time actual beaconsfield has made the news - as opposed to the 9 consecutive days of the front page news being "just like yesterday the miners are still trapped and we're still trying to get them out". and then the 5 days of "Hooray they're free now". meh.

Had a good session last night. Drilled lots of stuff - spins, whirls and drifters mainly. I hit irish mist or whatever that move is called - atomic vortex anyway and sealed it for the first time (with osis too!
). Actually didn't feel that hard and I think I can hit it in runs. Mobius was feeling good. I worked on hitting some short runs - like 10 moves>mobius a bit. Also I randomly hit 21 unique guiltless - which is by no means a record for me - but it's difficult to make up unique runs on the spot I find. In the end I repeated a parkwalk I think which was annoying but I was pretty happy with the effort - especially for first attempt. My strong side spinning is definitely getting a lot better - spinning whirl is becoming a reliable 5 - which it should be. My flip spinning still needs lots of work. Overall felt good.
I played some chess today which was frustrating because my mind was completely off the game to begin with and I repeatadly did thoughtless moves - like not even making an effort to think about my move. I had no plan or anything. The last game was better because I started thinking and I won fairly easily gambiting a knight on the way to winning too - which was cool. I like it when gambits work

Hey blog readers.
Well I haven't played footbag in a week but will probably have a kick today. Was sick for a few days and then have had no motivation at all. It's weird because when I have been playing lately I've been easily in the best form of my life. I've decided I need to move somewhere where there are other serious players. I hate being the only serious player. - 30 guiltless run - pass to next player - multiple short sub tiltless runs with self serving - pass to next player same thing - pass to me 30 guiltless run. That said, my attitude on self serving hasn't changed at all although I don't self serve at all these days - only because most of the time I don't need to. I just want to be challenged and have something to push my game. I'm thinking either Sydney or overseas. Maybe Germany (Berlin of course) or Canada. Although somewhere warm would be nice. Maybe California - although I doubt I could handle living in the US. Who knows.
Oh well, off to kick. Today I'm going to try to hit as many alpine smoke links as I can and also hit it bsos. I see no reason why I can't - my strong drifter is on the weak pixie side which is my weak smoke side so if I start with that side I think it should be ok.

word up - two posts in one day.
Just thought I'd mention some of the stuff I hit today. It was harder than I thought - probably because the bag kept getting caught on my board shorts. I might have another kick tonight in short shorts.
Anyway:
sumo>alpine smoke>ps whirl
flurry>alpine smoke
flip alpine smoke>ps whirl
flip alpine smoke>pdx torque
vertigo bsos
nice run with scorpion's tail, spinning whirl (with the other spin) and bluriest>ps whirl>pdx torque. Also I think there was a pdx blender in there somewhere. Actually all those combos were into runs I think.
My flip pdx whirls were feeling really good, as was my flip spinning. I footed some new stuff too, but I'll post it up when I hit it.
I also bought Ulysses by James Joyce and Paradise Lost by John Milton. Too classics that I should have read but haven't. I'm sure Dyalan will be happy to hear that I'm reading Ulysses.
Going to get my shit together this week too. Also going to start running every day again. And get up early.

Damn straight, two of my favorites. Lots of people recomend getting a good annotated version or finding a companion guide but personally i like that you can make what you will out of it because there's no way to get all the references at once. ALso I recomend trying to read it in an irish accent, it seriously helps.

I usually use the breakdancers as my circle. I watch one of them do a freestyle run, then I have a go. Then I stop and 'pass off' to watch them for a run or two, then have another go.
It's sad and lonely.
Oh, and thanks for the new bag. It's sweet.
No Probs.
So I had a demo today at a community fair thing. The day started off well until about 5 minutes out of the shower when I had put on some pendulum to pump me up and air shredding I smashed a light cover thing and cut my hand up. I was a little late leaving the house because of this and also forgot my cds, didn't have time to find a good bag to juggle with and also left my invoice at home. Also it hadn't stopped bleeding and I couldn't find any band aides so I had to wrap a hankicheif around it.
Anyway the demo went really well and I've emailed my invoice off now. It was basically me just standing around shredding and getting kids to join in. They were shy at first but got into it. I played well - lots of long runs. Started hitting lots of whirrs - which is a long time since I've tried that move. I don't know why because it's awesome and I'm good at it. I had a mr. sandman as my juggling bag and it didn't go too badly. My 32 did get a hole in it which will teach me for letting little kids kick it around on cement but it's pretty old anyway so it was bound to happen sooner or later.
I may have scored some more demos doing some workshops for kids. I gave my phone number to some girl anyway and she'll call me if the school agrees to it.
Had fun and will have another kick in half an hour too
Oh I had my hair cut yesterday too. It was soooo long. I felt like I can hit ducking stuff so much easier now.
Well that's about all my news at the moment.

Yo J-Bomb, Keep me updated on how you're finding Ulysses. Do you like it, hate it, don't feel that its worth all the effort? Any interesting idiosyncratic interpretations?
This happens to me all the time but in a different context, and change school for women's college.I gave my phone number to some girl anyway and she'll call me if the school agrees to it.

Hey yall.
Yeah lucky for me the bleeding had stopped by the time I performed and I don't think anybody noticed.
Re: pendulum. I think I posted that story in my blog. A group of girls infront of me literally bought the last tickets. If they had have sold 1 more ticket I would have gone. I heard it was awesome though. James and Brian from the HFC both went.
I'm getting a little bored of Pendulum to be honest. I've been listening to them since like August I think, maybe September. They need a new album. They only really have 2 songs that I really like - the rest are good but not as good (as Slam and fasten your seatbelts).
Dyalan - the introduction to Ulysses was too long - it was like 50 pages and I didn't want to read about Ulysses, I wanted to read Ulysses so I started reading Paradise Lost first and will get onto Ulysses once I finish PL. Paradise Lost is good. I skipped over the introduction for that too actually and the version I have has plot synoposis for each book so I've been skipping over them too. I will definitely read it a second time reading all that stuff but when I read books I like to go in without any pre concieved perceptions etc. - come up with my own opinions before I see what other peoples are. Anyway I really like it. It's very hard to follow - I really feel like I need to concentrate all the time to understand exactly what's being said but that's ok. I really like Milton's use of similies - how extended they are and I think they work really well. I'm still only early into it but I enjoy it so far.

So stayed up last night and watched Germany defeat Costa Rica - which was a great game and also watched part of Equador v Poland. Not sure who won but Equador were up 1-0 at about 75 minutes and looked to be in control. Now I'm really tired but (went to bed at about 6 am) but I see this trend continueing for the next month
Had a session before the soccer started - pretty much just drilling whirls. These are the drills I worked on. I spent about 10 - 15 minutes on each drill I think and just kept going through them until I dropped - so a few reps especially for the first ones.
whirl>osis rep
whirl>drifter rep
whirl>ripwalk rep
pdx whirl>infinity>osis rep
pdx whirl>whirl rep
pdx whirl>pdx drifter rep
consec pdx whirls
blurry whirl>osis>infin>rep
consec blurry whirls
symp whirl>infinity rep
ps whirl>osis>infinity rep
consec ps whirls
I also drilled my barrages a little
Session went for 113 minutes I think (I keep a record of how long each drill session goes for, how many contacts I hit of each drill and how much water I drink and how quickly - but I can't remember that stuff off the top of my head)
In other news I made my first ever bid on ebay - I was an ebay virgin - and won! So I have a 100% success rate with ebay. Damn I rock.
I bid on some new g-units - here they are:

Those Gunits are pimp.
It's too bad about your late night football spectating. These days theere are usually games on whenever I wake up, and they go on through the afternoon. It's pretty sweet.

I was going for Australia 100%. Dude it was fucking awesome! Timmy Cahill is my hero
. Bring on Brazil.
Although I'm 50% genetically Japanese, I was born in Australia and have spent my entire life minus 4 weeks in Australia. I have only spent 3 weeks in Japan and that was when I was 6. I can only speak a few words of Japanese. They are definitely my second team to Australia in any sporting event. Despite my best efforts, I'm a big nationalist when it comes to sport.
Anyway my nocturnalism is going well - my sleeping hours are about 5am - 1pm - which means I tend to fall asleep during the last game of the night but that's ok. I work from 5pm - 9 pm so that fits in well. Also all this football has given me a good chance to make footbags so that is good too
Have been playing footbag a little too.
Oh somebody asked me a question about my drilling so I thought I'd answer it here. All those drills I listed are relatively easy for me - I know that I can hit a solid amount of contacts of all those drills. However I can't hit over 5 reps of all those drills 90% of the time - which is basically my goal. When I get to that level I will be happy with those drills. These days I don't want to hit the hardest move ever hit in footbag, I would rather be able to hit good 30+ genuine and interesting runs all the time. I want to be consistant rather than hitting high add moves. High add moves will come I am sure but I'm going to work on what I can do so I can do it all the time, rather than trying to learn new stuff.
