Lol, Jeremy's always said negative, spiteful things, and always hid them under the veil of rationality.

I'm not going to answer because my post was not directed at you. It was directed at Jeremy. Jeremy obviously wasn't offended, so he's obviously way more mature than you are.

lol, completely unlike Dan - who has always radiated positivity and understanding. We should all aspire to be more like you I think. I don't really know what you're talking about specificially but I am always careful how I word things. You may call it hiding meaning under the veil or rationality and I would say it's trying to be as inoffensive as possible while not compromising my opinion.

Chris Miller - I'm definitely not offended - the idea of being offended because somebody makes a generalisation that my opinions are the opinions of everybody from my nation is humerous. I wish I could speak for Australian's everywhere but sadly the majority of Australia's are probably apathetic towards the issues I think are important - just like I am apathetic towards the issues they care about (such as who will win "dancing with the stars" or "big brother" and when the next Kylie Minogue album is coming out). Also nobody is trying to bait you. You put forward an opinion that I disagree with (and so do others) and we're responding to your opinion. You will find that if you put foward opinions in any forum (and I don't use that word in the internet context) there will be people who will disagree and will counter your opinions. Personally I encourage people to voice their disagreement with my opinions if have some - I think hearing variety of opinion can only be a good thing and I definitely believe that there are plenty of times where I am wrong and I'm not afraid to admit that.

I am sure there are American's on this forum who can vouch for the fact that I don't think all American's are fuck heads. - I don't understand where this topic came from. I don't send footbags as gifts to people I think are fuckheads and I don't stay in constant email contact with people for over a year with people I think are fuckheads.

What was the point of your story about your friend being beaten up by the homeless person?

Chris, to clear things up, I wasn't offended at all. In fact I was completely unaware of what you meant by the statement. I figured it was either a throwaway line or it had something to do with the whole henry video saga. I merely wished to see which it was.

So it was a throw away line. If it had been intended to bag out australians, I definately wouldn't have been offended. It just would have embaressed you, luckily that wasn't the case.

I also don't think you're in a position right now to judge maturity.

That is a very good point, one I was already wondering about.

And big brother, kylie minogue, and ESPECIALLY dancing with the stars are all lame.

The point was, that I don't like a lot of bums because they prove time and time again to be people that take advantage of the kindness of others. Not ALL, but most. And most are rude, offensive, and have few desirable characteristics to show society. They beg and steal, but offer nothing in return. The story was meant to show the characteristic of how they don't care about individuals, only themselves and what they are capable of. Not ALL, but most. And SOME even have morals, and WOULDN'T take advantage of someone by beating them up and taking their money.

But this whole thing started because I got tired of bums saying smart-ass comments towards me, so I came up with some to say to them. Hah, they weren't even that bad. Awww poor bums, shredzilla's picking on them!!!! Let's all rally around shredzilla and tell him what a bad person he is for making fun of people who drain on society! I find it hilarious that you hold this subculture in such high regard that you're willing to go to war for them. Man, pick a higher cause bro. That's just downright pathetic.

Actually, if we "rallied around you", that probably wouldn't have much do do with calling you a bad person. Poor word choice in my humble opinion.
I find it hilarious that you hold this subculture in such high regard that you're willing to go to war for them. Man, pick a higher cause bro. That's just downright pathetic.
Shred, do you honestly think I care about how bums are? Do you think I care if they sometimes (And I say sometimes because you're way overexagerating the miserness of bums here) get money trhoguh sneaky ways, and then when they do go and spend it on vices? Do you honestly think that that's what's passing through my mind as I'm giving a homeless person change? No. Charity isn't about that. Charity and good will isn't saying to someone in need, "You're not good enough for my charity and good will".

You tell me to pick a higher cause? I can think of no higher cause than to help the most unfortunate members of society when they are in need. And no one is going to war for them anyways Chris, if anything, you're going to war against them, and it seems pretty one sided. You had a bad incident with a bum, and it seems to have psycologically effected you pretty deeply.

Christ teaches me not to care whether or not bums are taking advantage of me, and really, it never even passes through my mind.

The difference between you and me Jeremy is that I'm forthright with my bastardlyness, while you try and look uncorruptable. Come up to Seattle and we can get some hookers and do coke off their asses (On me), and then maybe bash on a few American's.

AKA, your an elitist. You probably wont even take me up on the hooker/coke offer.

Sounds like fun. There's some chance I'll be in the US around July next year - I would prefer no hooker to a cheap one though.

I don't understand how you can make the claim from one example that most people asking for money on the street don't have morals etc.
Let's all rally around shredzilla and tell him what a bad person he is for making fun of people who drain on society!
I work and get money - I give that money to a guy on the street - he spends it on alcohol - the money stays in circulation - there is no drain. If I didn't give him the money I would probably spend it on alcohol anyway. I don't think its a significantly bad thing on my life if I drink less. In fact it's probably a good thing.

I find it hilarious that you hold this subculture in such high regard that you're willing to go to war for them. Man, pick a higher cause bro. That's just downright pathetic.
Spending a couple of minutes writing a post about my opinions is hardly "going to war". I spend more time walking to work than I spend on this topic - does that mean I'm on a "war for walking"?

I used to give money all the time. Then I got bitter. Now I do it on very rare occasions, such as when I was standing outside of McDonalds last week and he turned around and went right in and ordered food.

My bigger problem is why we don't offer more money to the organizations that try to do more for homeless people, such as counseling and job placement. I don't know why I don't, but I don't.
