I really want to go to the ECFC, but I doubt I have time to go there. I have to get a summer job to build some cash for tuition sometime in June.

just had a fun little session, did lots of gyro clippers and some spinning whirls and a bunch of gyro butterflies both sides. That was a nice surprise, I didn't know I would have such an easy time with them. Also, I held another suderman's tail, I'm getting the technique a little better. Still can't get out clean, though. swirling gyro set was strong today, looks like I need to still do some work on the flip, though. some knee pain, little hip pain. I should stretch more.

didn't play today, but I've been having some nice mellow sessions the past few days. My knee hurt me a few days ago, but not yesterday. The hip is still bugging me, but I've found some stretches and warmups that I'm really liking, which are helping me deal with it. I'm definitely looking forward to spikenshred this weekend, I can't wait. Not much to say, except yesterday I did suderman's tail > string twice!! I was so excited about that, I don't know if anyone else has done that yet. I love that trick so much, it's so badass. I want to get it nailed. The technique is getting easier for me.
Everyone who wants a ride to spikenshred with me must post in my blog in the next few days. I'm not getting conclusive answers from anyone. I look forward to hearing from a bunch of you guys, this event is going to RULE!

Josh's hip was hurting him a lot too, and he found a good stretch that fixed him right up. You should ask him about it.
I can't wait to shred with you at spike and shred matt! I loved this tourney so much
and I'm sure its going to be just as badass if not better than last year.

josiah, can't wait to check out the bag.
Had an awesome session tonight, I hit swirling mobius twice, and got it on film once, luckily. unfortunately, it was the less clean of the two; the swirling is good, but the second dex is a little further down the calf than I like (video here). Also hit suderman's tail > string first try (video here).
BE WARY, this was an underwear shred session, and one of the videos ends on a closeup...
Also, hit spinning whirl > spinning whirl both sides, and lots of spinning ducking sets. Couldn't get a whirl out of it either side. and this was session two today. Earlier, I hit gyro symp whirl on one side, close on the other, and some drills.
Just trying to gear up for the next 3 weekends!
Anyone want to sponsor me to go to worlds?
Matt

Whatev, Matt! It's great that you hit a perfect Suderman's Tail and went into a string after that! Props!!!

That Suderman's Tail > string was excellent. I've kinda been messing around with suderman's tail, can't quite get it to stay on my foot. More practice I need for it.
Major props man!!

holy crap! That tail looked so solid, and it was a great string afterwards. I can't believe how good your mobius has become... the one at the end of that string was one of the most perfect I've ever seen. This summer's shred is going to be epic.
And if you would like to give me a ride to spikenshred, I'm definitely in. I'm at my dad's place until then. You might remember it, it's kinda out in the woods, but I can probably meet you at one of the I-90 exits for your convenience. Let me know!
(and was that the new Tool album in the backround of your videos? I haven't heard it yet, but that was unmistakably adam jones on guitar)

Chris, I KNEW someone would identify the new Tool album in those little snippets. It rocks SO hard!!!!! I listened to it for my whole 2 hour session last night. I'm glad you noticed it.
At which exit should i pick you up?
And to you other guys, thanks a lot for watching the videos. I'm glad I got my camera back. Also, I found out my roommate has a DV cam, we're going to make a better video today! (or maybe tomorrow)
last night's session was pain free, even though it was intense. YESSSS!! Stretching is good.

spikenshred was cool, my shred was okay the first two days. had a blast hitting some of my weirdness for sunil, who appreciated it. He gave me a thumbs up on the swirling mobius I hit for rob creel's video (SUPER gratifying) and he liked my cloud kick moves. I also hit suderman's tail midstring, and beat the cleaver on a race to revstein! that was a huge surprise, I had no idea I would be hitting it when I walked up to dave to talk.
my shred really was of low quality, though. clavens thinks I should drill the same move 100 times, and I agree. i think endurance training needs to be the next big step in my game, so I have the strength to just shred and shred and shred.
This weekend is buskerfest with jorden, I'm super psyched. his mom picked us up a wireless headset mic, which I'm thinking has HUGE possibilities for beatbox shred. My only concern is the receiver, which might be a little bulky to attach to clothes, maybe i can wear it on my arm. Now, if only this kink in my neck would feel better. No complaints, though, it would be a lot worse if Bev's new friend Aiden didn't manually pulverize it for me this weekend. Footbaggers' girlfriends are so good to me. It makes me wish I had one of my very own. Time to get to work.
More on spikenshred later. What a weird event.

WOW. This has got to be one of the most jam packed days of my life since last year trying to arrive in Poland. I am BEAT. a prelude; last night, I had a 4 hour gig that ended at 11 PM, after which I smoked a joint and drank a beer and drove straight to dundas. The drive wasn't bad, but jeez, it was bad timing after that long gig. Anyway, crashed after the relatively short 2 hours (short after last week's 7 hours to spikenshred) and got up today for some lunch with jorden's dad and jorden, then some shred with jorden, then some planning, then planning with johnny, then, off to buskerfest. we did 3 shows over 3 hours, and made about $150 CAN between us, plus $100 each just for showing up. and we've still got 2 days of moneymaking left. Anyway, almost IMMEDIATELY after the buskerfest (but not before getting a sweet massage from Jorden's dad
oo la la) I went out to a bar and sang for my supper while jorden did juggling. and now here I am and johnny's watching me type and we're going to bed soon and I'm tired. Two more days of craziness to follow. goodnight footbag....

Buskerfest was AWESOME!! It started out a little slow... For our first set of performances on Friday, we were stuck behind a rock climbing wall, and our power source never showed up, but we managed to find an outlet in the downstairs part of an apartment behind the fish restaurant. Originally, we were starting out our show with a little footbag history at the beginning, but we cut that after the first show. I should have known it wouldn't go over well, I tried to include history in a set of demonstrations once before, and it just doesn't grab the crowd.
Anyway, the first night went okay, we had 3 or 4 shows before calling it a night, and we made a few piles of change. THEN, Jorden and Johnny and I (all exhausted) packed up the PA and ran off to Jorden's stepmom's daughter's restaurant for me to play an impromptu gig for tips and a meal. I ended up getting $16 and a HUGE burger and a HUGE beer. So, that was pretty sweet. Jorden joined me on his guitar on All Along the Watchtower. He had some pretty good fills and some cool blues leads. Then, I did some tunes alone, and Jorden jumped in with some freestyle 3-ball. He ended with some really cool floor tricks, I was impressed, and I think the audience was too. Then we came home and went to bed.
By day two, our performance had firmed up. I MC'ed the whole thing, and Jorden and Johnny did all the move demos (except for some unusual delays). Basically, it went as such (music in parentheses):
-Introduce players, call audience over (Dusty McNugget - Brad Mehldau)
-Demo basic components (Rock It - H. Hancock)
*kicks
*flyers
*delays
*dexterities
*ducks / dives
*spins
*unusual surfaces (w/ crowd participation - suggesting unusual delays. Most common requests were nose and shoulder.)
-Combination of components (Rock It)
The combinations we did were double dexes, shuffle style 2-dex, triple dex, spin/dex, spin/duck, all with super slo-mo explanations before the tricks
-Unique Talents (Block Rockin' Beats - Chemical Brothers)
*Johnny - 2 bag juggling, suderman's tail (nailed almost every one first try)
*Jorden - 3 ball juggling, 3 ball juggling while kicking the footbag
*Matt - Beatbox + Shred
-Short demo routines (mostly done dropless, 40-60 seconds)
*Matt - Seven Nation Army - White Stripes
*Johnny - Hawaii 5-0 theme
*Jorden - In The Mood - Brian Setzer Orchestra
-Rippin' Run (Another One Bites the Dust - Queen)
-Pass the hat, mention world championships, thank crowd
So, that's basically what we had going. The second day (Saturday) got rained out halfway through, so we only got in 4 shows before packing up, but Camille and Mike Faille and his friend Matt came out and did some between-show freestyle with us. Then, we all went back to Jorden's house and hung out and filmed a funny video that I hope comes out really soon. Johnny gave me a sweet new bag with a totally new pattern. I love it, I'll take a picture soon. I <3 u, johnny.
Sunday was our best day. It started out on a frustrating note; another brief, hard rainshower came as soon as we got set up, and we had to sit out for the first show. Luckily, the sky cleared and the sun dried up the playing surface very quickly.
I'll post the rest later, Jord's step mom needs the computer.

So, as I was saying...
After the rain cleared, we got going on shows. The first one of the day was a little less smooth in the monologue department, but that's how it usually goes for me. We had some groupies who came to show after show and played with us all day between the sessions. Two boys, Zachary and Brandon, came on Saturday and Sunday and joined us for LOTS of sessions, it was really cool.
I had a pricey serving of sashimi for lunch, then came back at 5 PM to do another show. We were having what was planned as our last show, and we started to pack up, but then a mob of people came by, so we busted out one more time, and it ended up being the best show with the most peole and definitely the most money made! Including our honorariums, we made just over $1,200 CAN total! Not bad for 3 guys playing some kickybag on the weekend.
After packing up the PA and changing our clothes, myself, Jorden, Johnny, and Jorden's dad and stepmom all went to a friend's house for some a great supper. J, J, and I all sat outside on the deck and ate. The sky was clear, we were surrounded by lush trees and birds singing, there was a cool breeze, and we just sat there deflating after our weekend. The food was so good that I couldn't help but stuff myself. Having a good big meal with my teammates while we sat there with wads of cash in our pockets from footbag was the perfect ending to the weekend.
Johnny left, and I stayed one more night to change my money at the bank the next day. Jorden's dad had this big badass cinderblock-sized massager called the Thumper that we used to pulverize each other's back and legs. It felt SO good, it practically liquifies you. Every footbag tournament should have one. Then, we watched Homestar Runner and I smoked a joint on his back porch and had some pie and a beer or 3, and went to bed.
And that was my buskerfest. Good freestyle, good money, good food, good people; good times. We all were regretful that we had to miss the circle contest to do it. Can't wait to see some video!

Yeah doing it in super slo mo is a great idea... ive noticed some people say when footbaggers are going fast it all looks the same, like some crazy dance. That sounds like an awesome time dude, traveling europe, getting to play guitar, shred, introduce people to it, smoke a few. Im pretty envious man, that rocks.
