In the first thread, a bunch of my posts got randomly deleted, and no one else's did. I don't think I said anything inflamatory in them, but I'd just like to know why they're gone.

Hey, weren't mod's supposed to stay the fuck out of the bottom 3 threads in line with the compromise?

Jeremy wrote:Sorry to bring up an old topic - which by the way hasn't in any way been resolved as was promised - ie. with some set posting rules, and some expectations on moderators.

But I'm curious to know why the following topics were locked:

http://www.modified.in/footbag/viewtopic.php?t=13231

http://www.modified.in/footbag/viewtopic.php?t=13342

I was enjoying the first topic and there was definitely some continued discussion on that topic going on. I don't know what Chris Miller's problem is but certainly I can see nothing in that topic to see why it would be locked.

I can see that Erik Chan locked the second topic because it was "This is all really off topic, unnecessary, and inappropriate" - Why is a topic not sticking to the original topic a problem? If I'm having a conversation with somebody in real life and we move away fro the original topic of conversation do I have to stop talking to them? The reason I keep posting on modified is the community - not the idea that every single topic should be helpful to making me a better footbagger. Yes I agree the topic is "unnecessary" - how many topics on this forum are "necessary" - is this forum "necessary"? Why don't you lock all the topics that are "unnecessary". What part of that topic is inappropriate? The usage of the word "nigs"? Couldn't that have been just edited out? Or was it the bickering? Are we not allowed to disagree with anything people say on the forum any more or the topic will be locked?

I don't know why this was brought up in a stupid topic about me.
For answers to some of your questions Jeremy see this topic. http://www.modified.in/footbag/viewtopic.php?t=6159

I agree that those topics weren't deserving of being locked and I unlocked them. I think it was planned that they only be locked temporarily because the flamers in the threads refused to back down on the flame war. Since "Takin' off" had gotten to flaming status I went ahead and moved it to Discussion.

I have not been moderating lately. I only moderate when absolutely necessary. http://www.modified.in/footbag/viewtopi ... 0&start=20

Dan, I don't see where the compromise was that moderators would stay out of anything.

As for a set of rules for moderating, I'm more than happy to let the community come up with it.

Thanks Brad :)

Good call on letting the community come up with the rules too :)

Each time there's a spat between forum mods and forum members, I come up with this soloution.

PUT YOUR DAMNED DICKS AWAY, AND LETS GET BACK TO WHAT MATTERS: BEING A COMMUNITY. THIS PRICKWAVING DICKFIGHT ISN'T DOING SHIT!

This bickering isn't going to solve anything, and this "discussion" will end up going into camps of asskissing. Simple soloution to this. Deal with it or leave. This goes for every single one of you on this board.

When I pop back in every now and again, I see soemthing wrong every time I come in. I remember a time when we all got along, and didn't degenerate into near violent flame wars. That's what this footbag thing was about, even in the kicking circle. Now... fuck...

Deal.

Yes, and that was my attitude with them too.

As an addenum, I went to the Zombie meetings so I could footbag and meet up with friends and such. Then people started to get pissy about "we're there to (get better)/(have fun)" thing. A footbag meeting is not a place for pety, stupid arguements about shit like that. Go there, hang out, get feedback, and if you want to improve or feel you can, do so.
