There's always one guy that waits until the very last minute.

1.) I need a serious beach plan so I can convince my ride to go. So local boys give me a name of a fun beach please.

2.) Can anyone offer crash space for 2?

Sorry to take so long, but I'm not really a beach-goer. I had to do a little research with some help from a friend at work.

Anyway, Ricardo and Casey said:

Point Pleasant is a really nice beach, with palm trees and a fun boardwalk.

Seaside Heights is a cool beach with a boardwalk and a rowdy atmosphere.

Sandy Hook is nice, but much quieter. The beach is near/in National Park/National Recreation Area territory (less developed?) Word is that there is a nude beach at Sandy Hook, but it is frequented by many people who should probably not be seen naked.

All those beaches are approximately 1 and 1/4 hours from Somerville.

Are you coming? I might be able to arrange crash space for you if you let me know very soon.

Hahhahaa omg that tournament was insane. That was definitely one of the most fun events I've been to. Thanks to Jon Schnieder for putting together an amazing jam. Thanks to Jack for providing two of the sickest footbag parties. Thanks to Ms. Ivanyo for the bbq. Jams like these really make me appreciate all the good friends I've made through footbag.

It was a really fun tourney. I loved seeing all of the old and new shred buddies in events like these. Definitely a lot of props to Jon Schneider, Jack Keller, Becky and Amanda for providing the goods to this year's Spike & Shred.

just got back. great great great time. i was only there sun night/monday but while i was there i enjoyed every second. much love to jon schneider and jack kellar for the hospitality and work for the event. that clavens kid is good at footbag. dropless in the finals and a monster in the circles. stuff like nemesis is now just a link for dave. he needs to be at worlds this year. bevier was as always on fire and super creative fresh and clean. one of my top faves. sunil back busting out clown faces. everyone else has upped their game including chris dean, aric, diggs bros, and many others. sweet to see everyone busting.

that was an awesome tourney...although i was only there sunday, i had a great time. It was great meeting everyone and i hope we can all shred again soon. I wanted to come back on monday but i had no ride

so i shred at home, and in spirit i was there

I hope to see you all again sometime, im thinking about having a jam in my town sometime this summer, but i havent decided on anything yet.

Okay,

Please bear with me while I try to make some kind of official wrap-up for the tournament...

We had about 36 registered competitors this weekend. We had about a couple dozen more kickers hanging around all or part of the weekend playing in hack circles or shred circles. Although spectatorship fell far short of my expectations, participation exceeded them. In the end, I'd trade a big crowd of strangers for a few more good friends any day. Thanks for coming, everybody.

We had pretty good weather all weekend long. It rained for a little while on Saturday at around noon, but that hardly slowed us down at all. Sunday was beautiful, Monday a little too hot, but we had enough shade on the courthouse lawn.

We had a bountiful barbeque at the Ivanyo's house on Saturday Night, and a nice little campfire to hang out by as Matt Cross sang and played the guitar, and Jack Keller turned a plastic bucket into an improvised bongo till his hands began to hurt.

We had a raging party on Sunday at Jack's place, and it must have gone all night, 'cause some kickers didn't show up on Monday till 3:00 pm. It seemed like lots of fun. I'm sorry I had to miss most of that one.

Before I get to the results, I have a few people to thank:

I simply must say thank you first to my own parents, who: helped me transport my equipment back and forth from the event sight, sign in competitors, sell food and drinks, and also provided complimentary sunscreen courtesy of Dr. Robert Schneider MD of the Dermatology Group of Central New Jersey.

Next, my thanks go out to THE WORLD FOOTBAG ASSOCIATION for their generous sponsorship of this event, as well as Brenda and Joe Solonoski of FUNTASTIK ALTERNATIVE SPORTS in Mechanicsburg, PA (yes, the very same people who have brought us the Funtastik Summer Classic footbag tournament for over twenty years in a row!)

I'd also like to thank Hacky Sack Jack Lentz for his generous donation of Pro-Kicker net bags that went out as prizes to some of our intermediate competitors, Ted Fritsch, for his spontaneous donation of cash, and Jon Bernstein for his KTYS shirts. Those shirts are really cool. Thanks alot guys

Very sincere thanks to Vince Bradley, Jamie Lepley, and Jim Hankins, who came out to my tournament and ran the Net and Golf portions of it for me.

More of the same goes to Paul Agostinelli, Josiah Digges, Sunil Jani, Jon Bernstein, Aric McIntosh, David Clavens, and others, for helping me with such things as judging routines and counting up Shred scores.

In the same vein, I'd ESPECIALLY like to thank Chris "Shredzilla" Miller for volunteering his time and sacrificing his ears as he sat in the blazing hot sun and did an excellent job running our sound system for two days in a row for the freestyle competitions. Despite some severe technical limitations, Miller was ON POINT! Thanks again.

Thanks to:

Karen Ivanyo, who put in a great deal of time and money to host an awesome barbeque at her own home for dozens of kickers on Saturday night, and the food and drinks were GREAT! Karen also showed up early every day and spent many hours in the heat helping to sign in competitors. Thank you Karen!

Becky and Amanda Power also, for making another awesome party happen (lots of shopping, lots of preparing, cleaning, and some entertaining too). Thank you very much!

And finally, JACK KELLER, without whom we would not have had any place to play all weekend. Jack fought his way through a sea of lawyers, beaurocrats, and red tape, and finally had to coughed up a hefty chunk of change (his own money) to grease some palms. All along the way it might have been easier for him to just throw in the towel and say "its just too much trouble", but thats not Jack's style, that didn't happen, and though he had to fight right up to the very end, he didn't let us down. Bravo, Killer Keller, way to go

Facing the same obstacles, David Clavens performed his first ever DROPLESS two minute routine, an awesome spectacle that has already been shown on local public-access television here [I'll get a copy of the recording tomorrow; plus they are going to show it again and much more of the competition too!], and I'm very pleased that it all happened here at my event

This sounds like it was a wicked fun event, and I really regret not having been able to go. Jon, props for organizing a wicked event, and all. It seems like you got PIIIIIILES of support which made for a really solid well organized tournament, and that's how it should be!!! Way to go, tiger!!!
