I never played in g-units, but from looking at pictures it seems to have more body too it(its basically thicker all around). I would say this just makes the shoe heavier and the fit wouldn't be as 'sock' like as the lavers are. I also heard the shoe is much better for preventing injury, so I may try them due to shin splints that have been bugging me for a while.

I've personally played a lot in both shoes. I used to shred in Lavers but now I've switched to G-units. I like G-units more because they have better support. By that I mean they have a wider sole. I have wide feet so they work good for me. The sole doesn't wear down near as fast as a laver. I would recommend g units to heavier shredders. If your super light frame and your body can handle crappy shoes use lavers.

Simply put, I agree with that, but further explain though...

Lavers and G's have about the same weight, the mod'd Lavers are a tiny bit lighter than Mod'd G's, if they are identical weight, then the G's feel 'bulkier'. That bulk that is felt is from the added width and cushion that the G-units have. I have switched over from lavers to G's, but it was a hard transition for me.

When I shred with lavers, I feel lighter on my game, but less consistant with my clipper game. The toes though on lavers can't be beat. When I'm in my G's, I feel a lot more support and cushion which I can't refuse. The insides kill the lavers with consistancy. Mind you every shoe is different in the way you mod them, and the way you play. I can tell you I'm a ton more consistant with my G'units inside game, but then look at people like... oh , let's say Vasek, he seems pretty f'n consistant with lavers, tons of people are really consistant with lavers. I've been playing with lavers for about 5 years, and G's 7 months, I'm switching over to G's mainly because of the cushion, support, and better inside surface it gives me.

do you think maybe the insides feel better on g units because you have to mod the outer layer which kind of makes more of a pocket with a the little bit of leather railings left over, maybe modding out the inside mesh instead of the canvas on on a laver would give a similar feel?

With what your saying now depends on whether you have mesh or leather lavers. Leather lavers you would mod the same way as goonits. So they have a little bit of that "rail" you were talking about. If you had the mesh lavers you would either 1: cut out the inner canvas or 2: cut off the mesh and use the inner canvas. I think with number 2, you would have that little "rail" like you suggested.

the question was if thats what makes the g unit insides feel good? or is it something else, like the curve of the sole.....

i think that the stickiness of the g6´s canvas and the width bonus of the sole is what makes inside better to play. i prefer the g6 because im heavy weight person who gets knee pain /w lavers. i started with g6 and i think theyre better than lavers: easier inside and clipper, and the toe is alright. depending on how u mod the g6, it can actually become lighter than the laver. Dont fear the globiness, you can mod the outside, too, so it isnt globy at all. my next pair will be a mesh g6 because modded leather g6 doesnt look pretty.

It's the design of the sole that makes for a better inside play. Chris Dean made an excellent argument that explained that with G-units your clippers will seem more 'lazy' than with Lavers because of the difference in each shoe's soles. (Thus for more reason for a harder transition I guess.) The design is much more wide and curved for comfortable inside/clipper delays, while with Lavers the design is fitted for more accuracy. The first reason why I use G-units is because of this claim, but as my game got a bit better it's really for the durable sole and support that comes with it.

I'm with Jim and John about these qualities for the G-units. With Lavers, I find that I usually kill the sole much more consistently than with G-units, and have made one of my Lavers feel more "lop-sided" than the other (which really hurt my feet and balance later on). The sole for my G-units is still pretty intact from rigorous use. And the stock insole isn't so bad either because of the much more durable sole. Also, the cushioning and support of the shoe really helps for intense shredding, if you don't mod the outside and tongue of the shoe that is (since most of the force your feet will transfer is toward the front and outside of your feet).

Really, the most basic cons for G-units is that they look and feel bulkier than Lavers. It only takes a few sessions to get used to the size and comfort of the shoe. In any case, each shoe has their own specific qualities (both advantages and disadvantages) that work for freestyle.

I totally agree with John on this. I would have written all this but I was too lazy. Thanks John

Oh, I forgot to talk about the G's soles vs the lavers. G units have crazy good grip which can potentially save your ankles and anything else that could give with a slip. The duration of the soles are great, I'm still on my first pair and the bottoms look fairly new. You'd think something that would grip so much better would unfortunately wear down quickly, but it doesn't. So I definitely give the G's another + for the soles.
