It does lower sperm count but in regards to bedroom performance side effects, my girlfriend will tell you she is definitely satisfied.

Actually, a friend of mine got kidney stones at the age of 21 from drinking too much mountain dew. His family has a tendency for it though. He hasn't drank any since.

Ben: not a lot of story to quitting. I guess I wasn't really that addicted. Or rather, it might be that once you decide you really don't want something and have some solid reasons for that belief, it becomes significantly easier to quit it. You could jump straight to drinking water instead, or find an intermediary substance (like some type of juice) to ween yourself from MD.

Baja Blast is good too.

you DO know that mountain dew has like 1/3 the caffeine of coffee, right? its almost impossible to get addicted to something that affects you so little...

Damn right, same with Dr.Pepper, and a bunch of others.

MD is 2nd. My all time favorite soda is Dr.Pepper.

Visit Texas some time. Dr. Pepper is a friggin' religion down here. The Dr. Pepper Brewery is in Waco, TX, halfway between Dallas and Austin.

Back on topic. Mountain Dew still rules! Though I am developing quite the fondness for Vault...

I recommend http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caffeine over that article...

Mt. Dew is the best soda ever. That being said, being a caffeine addict sucks hard. It takes alot of work to cut back on the caffeine, because the withdrawl symptoms are Highly upleasant! Nowadays I drink about 1 Dew/week.

Caffeine Blues is an excellent book on the subject, if anyone's interested.

?

you dont trust the article i provided so instead you provide me with one that DOESNT compare the level of caffiene in coffee vs. mountain dew? makes sense to me.
so the information you provided for the debate didnt exist, whereas mine was correct, as verified by mountaindew.com as well.

depending on what you consider a serving size,
caffeine levels:

mountain dew (8 oz.)= 37 mg
brewed coffee (8 0z.) = 135 mg (dependant slightly on preperation)

that mountain dew addiction must be killing you. you might as well deal with that heroin addiction first, it would probably be easier.

and dont say i dont know what its like because i dont drink it, because as you may have read in this very conversation, i have been drinking upwards of a liter of dew essentially daily since i was like 15 or 16. mountain dew doesnt even come close to coffee in terms of caffiene levels, so....

i, a good amount of time BEFORE you wasted my time, wrote:you DO know that mountain dew has like 1/3 the caffeine of coffee, right? its almost impossible to get addicted to something that affects you so little...
withdrawal symptoms are highly.....nonexistant.

Dang Slapdash. Where'd that come from?! I didn't try to refute any of your points, flame you, insult your mom, or say anything offensive.... I merely posted a link to a highly detailed report about caffeine, and said that I like Dew.

Please don't put words in my mouth or Assume. You know what happens when You AssUMe, right?

However, caffeine withdrawls ARE real, and they are HIGHLY unpleasant (although not life-threatening). As a caffeine (ab)user, I can attest to this fact, and there's plenty of research to back it up.

"withdrawal symptoms are highly.....nonexistant." Please inform yourself before you make ludicrous statements like the one in quotes.

my entire post was full of solid fact that i researched that supported my ludicruos statement.

coffee has over 3 TIMES the amount of caffeine and people that drink coffee daily have 'quit' fairly easily and felt no withdrawal effects after like a week, tops.

90% of withdrawal effects you think you are feeling are placebo. deal with reality.

i didnt assume, i took offense, no matter what you meant by what you said, and no matter what you could possibly have responded or will respond in the future. go ahead, argue with that.

i may be an ass, but im right, and thats whats important.

Uh... Iunno bout that dude, it increases it!!!!
Rumormongers attribute the soft drink's alleged spermicidal properties to its high caffeine content (55 mg. per 12 oz. can, versus 45.6 mg. in Coke and 37.2 mg. in Pepsi) and/or the coloring agent Yellow Dye No. 5, but there's nothing in the scientific literature to support either claim. The FDA determined long ago that Yellow Dye No. 5 poses no health threats to non-allergic people, and as for caffeine, there's evidence to suggest it actually increases the motility and effectiveness of sperm cells, not the opposite.
