Footbag demo for the kids, Liberty Hill, TX 6/1/06

Tina Lewis (womens world net champ) and I did a demo today for kids in Liberty Hill, TX. It was a drive into the countryside north of Austin. We did a demo for about 20 kids. They were all elementary school age. Tina said the best age is 5th grade and middle school, because they are generally the most receptive and still able to kick the bag multiple times after a few tries.

Not much to report, but it was still fun. We taught the kids basic kicks, footbag golf and four square. I demoed some shred and hit a few BOPs and a long tiltless string. Then I went for some big moves. Footed ducking osis and ducking butterfly. I actually hit rev swirl like 3 times in a row

Pendulum was the big hit though of course.

It was fun to get kids excited about footbag. Myself, ever the sales guy, was talking to parents afterwards getting them all pumped about footbag as an activity for kids while the kiddies kicked bags around. They were asking me where to buy them and I told them all about Freedom Footbags and footbag.org and how the kids could watch videos online.

It was really fun just to see the kids get excited over it and get a chance to kick themselves. I want to do more of these demos! Way too much fun!!!

yea,i always love doing stuff like that, its always furn when you see other people experiencing something they have never seen before, especially kids with their "ooohs and ahhhhs" haha. teaching footbag is quite the experience, with all of your big moves im sure they got very excited about it. thats such a great story, thanks for sharing.

Its all about presentation it seems... I practice on streets at times and just get weird looks

And then a few people are like "where can i buy one of these" but that isnt as often as a "O.o wtf" look.

That's awesome, man! I've always wanted to do some demos, and since I WashU is right next to a middle school I probably should, but I'm somewhat afraid to do them alone (and no one else nearby plays). How did you guys go about organizing it or even getting involved in a demo?

You should try to get pictures if you do another one. That'd be cool.
