i have some cool stuff from vaska on tape, fe symp whirr. dont know if you mentioned him hitting symp clownface. nice write up, i have probably most of it on tape but dont know hows it called

Very very cool to look at.
Also, when he did downtime whirrs (like blurry / spinning) he'd bend at the waist to get his knee very high. The first dex was done over waist high.

Still, I don't think that all of them would pass the strict Somolinos-Sundberg cleaness bar.

I remember not long ago many people said it was impossible to hit symp whirr like that (not Jeremy Mirken style), but WHAT THE FUCK! I cant believe that shit. insane

I can confirm that Vasek is head and shoulders ahead of everyone else. Even fanastic shredders like Ruki Aloha pale in comparaison when in a Vasek circle.

Oh and for the record, Riku is one of the guys who impressed me the most at this years Euros. He has phenomenal style a huge trick vocab and throws down insane combos. Oh he also hit triple atw like nothing...

Thankyou Max for the write-up!! Its great to read this kind of stuff, you know i love it haha

Just to put in my 2 cents, i always thought full symp whirr was possible and im glad to see it finally realised. It looks as dope as i imagined!

How did you play at Euros, Max? Will you make a fuller report sometime? I want to know how everyone is playing! i miss you guys!!

Erm no I don't think I'll write out a full report as I only have internet access at work atm. But yeah the players that really did impress me were Riku, Tina (she scored 171 or so in the open shred 30 qualifiers) and the polish guy who only has one clipper.

I think I shredded for a grand total of about 15 minutes although I did do a LOT of team freestyle. We even had a 3-team circle with myself and Fred, Robinson and Thomas from France and the Lostcher brothers from Zurich. That was fond moment.

Am happy that Fred and I managed to create a team routine in 2 days and pulled off a one-drop (although judges counted two I think) in the first round doubles.

Oh, the golf course was cool too as were the trophies (solar-powered rotating gold-colored net bags) and the medals (swiss army knifes with event / place etched on the side).

I'm looking into going to Worlds just for team freestyle qualifications and finals too... I think that there are going to be a lot of people at Worlds.

jeje! actually we are from Lucerne... yeah, it was pretty cool having one of the first team-freestyle circles in history!

For the record, Felix invented this, when he and Vasek played after Todexon 7. Vasek tried it after him and couldn't hit it

Ok thanks Stephen I wasn't aware of that. But just for the record, what I posted there was not a list of tricks that Vasek invented RIGHT THERE ON THE SPOT in a 30 minute span. It's as I wrote: the stuff I saw him hit and the stuff I saw him try.

Wow cool, thanks for the write-up Max. I'm so happy to hear that Vasek is back into the sport pushing himself again. In Helsinki it really seemed like he was losing interest, which is a shame because even though he's already the best, he still has so much potential for improvement. Two quick questions:

1. Did he hit pdx whirr? You have that trick on both your lists (hit, as well as tried-but-not-hit).

2. With his midtime barraging flails, did they look like flurries bailed to opp toe, or something else entirely?

I remember seeing him try it, and I also *think* I remember seeing him hit it. Not too sure about that one.

they didn't look like flurries because they were very high off the ground (a lot higher than your usual low flurry). It didn't make me think of flurry but it screamed "massacre" or whatever that trick is that Seb Duschene does: miraging op symp. egg. It was like that only with a "barraging" instead of a "miraging". Not to be confused with "stepping" or "furious". I'm near 100% mahkohh has one on video so you'll see for yourself soon enough.

Well I had a quick word with him about his whirring tricks and to congratulate him on his 6th Euros title. I asked him if he was planning on quitting after winning another Worlds title as said some rumor a while back. He said no and that he planned to play another ten or so years if I recall correctly. And that then he'd start playing net. Seeing how high he does his paradox / spinning whirrs, I told him he'll be able to pull off some good spikes

So yeah take this as you will, but he did sound quite motivated

Woot it's my b-day!

I'm officially 28 years old today! This doesn't make me any younger.... but yeah birthdays are always fun. The g/f popped over to Brussels from Paris so that I wouldn't wake up alone on my birthday, that's always a nice present

I have six bottles of champagne chilling (litterally) in the fridge and have some stuff planned this week.

Other than that I've been away last week on holiday in sunny south of France for 10 days, so I'm well tanned! Spent the whole time sleeping (in an appartment a whopping 40m from the beach) eating and tanning/swimming: exactly what I needed. After the longest and harshest winter known to man I beleive that this sunny escapade has motivated me to go and search for a sun + beach for my next place to live. The g/f and I have thrown a couple of ideas around and Sydney Australia sounds more appealing than ever. This won't be before at least another year though.

So yeh it's been a year with some ups and downs gf left me, new one came my way, nearly stopped playing fb, started again, got a new job, moved countries, met new people, travelled loads blahblahblah.

I'll finnish this post off with some fb related stuff:

10 days ago was the 3rd (I think) French Championships. In freestyle the only events were singles and doubles routines. Fred and I won the doubles routines with what we think might be one of our best performances yet (1 drop and overflowing with confidence from begginning to end). In singles, crazy Sergio rightly crushed the competition. I, quite suprisingly, came second with what I remember to be some super boring routines albeit with few drops. So yeah I added a huge shiny fsck-off trophy and acouple of medals to my collection, that's always nice. The spot for the tournament was fantastic: just next to the beach, super sunny etc. In the past couple of months I have hit hoards of new tricks such as:

- singularity
- novacane
- whirlwind rake
- big apple
- mobius screw
- pandemonium
- flip symp. bubbabeater
- flip clip set flux
- dominatrix
- atomic drifter
- predator
- flip alpine legbeater

and probably other stuff I forget. Anyway, it's nice hitting new stuff
