I didn't read the whole thread. Just thought I'd mention that.


I download music. And movies. Ussually I buy my stuff, just because I like having the real thing. I like having the CD jacket and the sleeve, and the DVD case and that stuff. But right now I'm a little strapped for cash and can't afford to pay for all that stuff. So I download it instead. So much cheaper. Once I can afford to I'll probably buy the CD's.

Imagine you have a highly anticipated CD that you've spent months working on, and inevitably, some idiot working at a packaging facility slips a copy into his pocket 3 weeks before the CD is shedueled to drop, and leaks it to the internet.

If that happened to me, I'd trade my sister to kick whoever did it in the balls. It's stealing, and it's wrong. Stealing degenerates society. Trying to come up with bullshit like "It doesn't hurt the record companies" is just silly. Show me proof that people getting their music of the internet instead of paying for it doesn't hurt the record companies. Purely false.

I'm not talking about leaking people's work early onto the market. I agree with you -- that's fucked up and hurtful to the artist involved. However, like I said, NOT monetarily. Neither is piracy. Read up.

A friend of mine had this sent to him from his Internet Provider.
Needless to say, he's stopped downloading films from the internet.


He was using 'Peer Guardian' (which aparantly hides your IP address), but was still caught.
