Travis' Footblog

Post by vettehunter123 »

Well I thought its about time i started my own blog. I got into footbag about 3 weeks ago. I ordered a Mr. Sandbag, it came in on Thursday and it kicks ass. My Lavers are all modded up. I took out the inside mesh, added a toe box, and laced em' with 27" laces. I've been shredding everyday now and I'm lovin it. So far I've got my toe delays pretty much skooled and my insides are lookin' better. I've hit some mirages and atw's and I'm trying to do an osis and a butterfly. Everywhere I go I take my footbag. I have also been practicing my left hits because its weaker than my right. I know I'll have a lot of time to shred since its summer. I recently discovered Anz' Trikz or something like that and its really helping. Thanks Anssi! :P I'm selling stuff on ebay to save up for a Peng bag or one made by Josh Raye but I probably won't get one until my skills improve. I'll practice more tonight and do this blog thing tomorrow. :)

Here's what I can hit so far.

~Mirage
~ATW
~Clipper
~Butterfly
~Legover
~Pickup
~Far Legover
~Far Pickup ~Hopover lol
~Paradox Mirage
~Clipper Pickup
~Clipper Mirage
~Osis (getting better)
~Pixie
~Heel Delay (not very often)
~Smear
~Dimwalk
~Ducking Clipper
~Ducking Mirage
~Dadacurves
~Stepping
~Stepping legover

Some cool strings I have hit:

~legover>legover>mirage>butterfly>clipper mirage>legover
~pickup>pickup>mirage>butterfly>clipper mirage>pickup
~butterfly>far legover>osis

Feel free to post in here and add your opinions and suggestions. :)

I got a job at kroger this week as a "courtesy clerk" (a fancy term for bagger.) I'll be making close to minimum wage which is $5.25 an hour here in Texas. I'm looking forward to making some money over the summer. Now I do an atw but catch it on the other foot and a toe to clipper. That's about all.

im not sure if you should be working on butterflys just yet. get your around the worlds, mirages, leg overs, pick ups, but if you do want to continue practicing butterflys at least get your clippers down where you able to stall on them. along with that you said that you modified your lavers and took out the inside mesh. your only supposed to have the inside mesh left you take out the leather

Thanks for the tips Josh but its too late for the Lavers. Oh well they work just fine. I'll definately practice legovers. Are pickups just the oppisite of legovers? My clippers are pretty good off the right and there coming along off the left.

yes pick ups are the opposite of legovers like how you got 2 ways for atw its the same for legover which its opposite is a pickup (pick is in>ou and legover out>in. someone correct me if im wrong.)

lol im glad the lavers work for you. im assuming you got the leather model which means you had to cut out the mesh from the inside that mustve been hard. well if you didnt cut out the mesh in the toe area you could still take off the leather in the toe area. the mod is to make the shoes lighter and for you to be able to feel the bag, but still its the same frame so other than the lighter stuff it should still be a great shoe just like how you said.

have you laced them yet? i got my lacing instructions on my blog but they only work for eight hole shoes. there are plenty of different lacing methods and they help straighten out the sides which gives you more toe area

Yep I laced em' with shorter laces and have done the lace mod. I hit a pickup today and now I can do pixies. So I guess my (small) bag of tricks would be:

 clipper
 mirage
 pickup
 atw
 pixie

ok so today i learned atw's the other way (inside dex i guess) on my right. my pixie sets are looking better along with my clipper. i did a few mirages off my left too. im not sure what its called but i did clipper>mirage today. :D im also trying to get some laver twills. i dont know if they will be good for footbag but i might try em'. right now my legs are sore from too many atws. :? i might try to get a few of my hacky sack buddies into footbag soon. i need someone to freestyle with. i can't wait for my freeking josh raye bag. its gonna be tight! 8) :P 8) :P i think the best thing for me right now would be to start doing a training regimen daily.

Holy freeking crap I just got back inside from landing 2 really sloppy butterflys. :o :o :o The only thing messing me up is planting my left foot before catching the bag in a clipper. Oh yea and I did a legover off my left. pickup=right, legover=left. hmmm weird. I must diversify :!: Today has been so sweet on top of my new tricks i got my new 12p dog bag in the mail after waiting almost a month! Heres pic's. Sorry if there really big :?

I couldn't help but update this because I should be getting these babys shortly:

LAVER TWILLS. I got them off ebay. I'm' not sure if I will mod them right out of the box but it will be tempting. They will definately beat my old leather ones. I really want my leg to get better so I can shred normal.

"sort of new" tricks of the day:
 butterfly
 clipper>same mirage
I made a TINY 12p today about the size of a grape. After messing around with it the floss broke so its about to fall apart. My blind stitch looked a little better than horrible on this one and I might make a 4p tonight. My leg still hurts like a bitch but I played today anyway. Oh yea my garage smells like ass cause something died in it :?

Today=good sesh :P

I hit 6 butterflys(3 consecutive!), a mirage off my left, this thing: right toe>right clipper>left toe> left clipper, and an atw but insted of catching it back on my toe I caught it on the inside.

My motivation now comes from this video ----->Jamison's Guiltless?!

I drilled clippers by stalling then moving my leg up and down and also did a bottle drill for my atw's last night. (Jamieson's advice) I also worked on my kicks for a long time today.

I made a better 12p today. Took me like 3 hours but its my best bag yet although its a bit lopsided. :?

The leg is feeling a lot better.

I've got drumline tomorrow but after i will definately shred. :o

THE RAYE BAG IS HERE. I almost fainted when I pulled it out of the envelope. It is so nice. Perfect colors, perfect weight. I had work and drumline most of the day today so I barely got to play. I'll post pics soon when I can borrow a digital camera. I'm so excited about it. :P

I got off work today at five and started playing around 6. I hit 2 new moves; ducking and heel delay.I can't seem to grasp illusions yet but I will keep trying them. I also wish I had some local shredders to play with. Playing alone gets lonely. :(

Everytime I drink a Red Bull and then shred, it feels like I play much better. Maybe its just a coincidence, but Red Bulls are freekin' good anyway. :P

I can hit these trick consistantly:
 Mirage (right)
 ATW (right)
 Clipper (bs)
 Mirage>Clipper(right)
 Pixie Set (right)

I can hit these tricks about half of the time
 Mirage (left)
 ATW(left and in dex on right)
 Butterfly (right)
 Pickup (bs)
 Legover (left)
 Pixie Set (left)

Goals:
 Get my left foot stronger and practice both sides.
 Improve my kicks.
 Increase stamina while practicing.
 Illusion (bs)

PEACE
