I must say that although I am from Raleigh NC and I'm pulling for the canes, the amount of people who became Canes fans around town just because of the hype is sickening. I'll be glad when the Stanley Cup is over.

That's how sports work, and also half the reason I'm rooting for the Hurricanes. Growing markets are good for the sport. The other half is that I always transfer my support to whichever team knocks out my own.

Justin Williams for Con Smyth! He's the reason the Hurricanes made it out of the first round!

My problem with the "growing market" is that where I'm from, people will support the sport or the cause for about a week, and then never care about it until it happens again. It's just aggravating, that's all. And yes, I understand that's natural as well
