Awesomeness. Thanks Fletch for posting both sets of videos. I'm glad you put the "hand dance" in, it cracked me up.

Could somebody do a personal favor for me, and calculate my Shred30 score? Due to the video quality, I can't tell if I hit pixie butterfly or pixie clipper in the middle. In either case, I still get different scores than the official tally. Here is my transcription of my run. Non-unique tricks are marked with an asterisk.

Dimwalk-fog-parkwalk-ripwalk-sidewalk-ripwalk-sidewalk-blur-legbeater- bedwetter-smear-paradon-pdx whirl-pdlo-pixie butterfly (possible pixie clipper)- infinity-ripwalk*-ducking butterfly-diving butterfly-ducking butterfly- DROP- butterfly-ducking clipper-pdx mirage-symp mirage-dlo- DROP- butterfly*-blurry whirl- butterfly*-blur*-pixie ss osis-pdx blender.

So:

33 contacts

2 drops

4 fives (4 unique)

9 threes (7 unique) (or if the dimwalk was pixie clipper, then 10 threes, 8 unique)
18 fours (16 unique) (or 17 fours, 15 unique)
119 (or 118) adds

216.36 or 214.55

Am I missing something, or is this correct? The score I received was officially 213.87.

If anybody has a spare moment, I'd really appreciate it if they checked it out. My transcription should make it pretty easy.

Nice videos. I know they didn't count my ddd unique from barfly. I think my score would have been 237 with an extra unique.

Nice run Ken!

Hey Jim. I've been working pretty hard these last couple days on Max's list of the best Shred30 scores ever in comp, so I'm videoreviewing and recounting as many top shreds as I can. I will re-count yours and Lons, and wherever possible, include alternate scoring methods (with or without xdex, or with or without counting downtime moves as uniques). The main thing we want is accurate scores for everybody.

Watching these SCI videos, I am again struck by how well competition went. It really seems like EVERYBODY hit pretty well in comp, which is a pretty rare occurrence.

Jim Penske's SCI Shred 30

Phoenix-blurry whirl-stepping whirl-sidewalk-blurrier-blur-pixie dod-blizzard-dimwalk-sidewalk-blizzard-paradon-pdx whirl-pdx whirl-barfly-barfly- ddd-crispy torque-ripwalk- spin butterfly- crispy torque-ripwalk- spin butterfly- blurry whirl- blurriest- osis -infinity- pdx torque- DROP- clipper- ps whirl-DROP

32 Contacts
2 drops
8 fives! (8 uniques)
19 fours (19 unique, or 17 unique if barfly variants aren't counted as unique)
2 threes (2 unique)
1 two (non unique)

124 adds, 29 unique (or 27)

236.375 or 228.625

EDIT: The score in blue is what the run would have scored using the Worlds system. Which was being used at SCI? Either way, I got a different number than the official result. Can somebody recount? I don't think I made a mistake, but I would like it if somebody checked. I will recount Lon's shred soon too.

From memory... it was a pixie clipper. You had 6 non-unique contacts. When I was calculating up the scores, you had 32 (which is where we differ) to give a score of 118*(1+26/32) = 213.87. After watching the video, I get 33 contacts. I'm not sure why the number was off on the sheet we used.

Both barflies were unique, but the one ddd was a non-unique. Thus, his score was 124*(1+28/32) = 232.5.

I checked the video and assumed that the trick in the middle was a pixie clipper. I also noticed that you hit the paradox blender on overtime, at around 31 seconds. So your score would be 114 adds divided by 32 contacts times 25 uniques plus 114 adds which totals to 203,06 points.

If your paradox blender would be on time your score would be 118 adds divided by 33 contacts times 26 uniques plus 118 adds which totals to 210,97 points.

That's what I get anyway with the rules used at last years worlds. Correct me if I'm wrong.

you used a different formula than: adds + (uniques * add ratio) ?

OK, cool. Yeah, I thought it was a pixie clipper. As for the 6 non-uniques... look at my video transcription, and then at the video. I repeated blur, ripwalk, and butterfly. I also had 2 drops. What was the 6th non-unique that you counted? Did you count diving butterfly and ducking butterfly as non-unique?

Weird.

If downtime Double Downs are not unique, that means he has 2 non-uniques: barfly and DDD. He already hit a Paradon using that leg, so in effect, both the barfly and the DDD are not uniques. See what I'm saying?

They're the same:

adds + ( uniques * add ratio ) =
adds + ( uniques * ( adds / contacts ) ) =
adds + ( adds * (uniques / contacts) ) =
adds * ( 1 + uniques / contacts )

The last one is a tad bit easier to calculate of a calculator.

First off, thank you to Ville and Mike for doing the math with me. Considering that all three top scores at SCI are on Max's list, it's important we get accurate results.
ville wrote: I also noticed that you hit the paradox blender on overtime, at around 31 seconds. .
Actually, the pdx blender counts. According to Worlds rules, if the bag is in the air when time is called, the next trick counts. So if the bag was still on my foot (pixie ss osis) when time was called, then the pdx blender wouldn't count. Upon reviewing the video, the bag is off of my foot when time is called, so the pdx blender counts.

.
Are you counting ducking and diving butterfly as non-unique?

We didn't count anything set from hand as unique. The only butterfly you did on your left side was set from hand.

The guy no the mic is a second late, the bag is on your foot during the osis at 30 secs. Atleast that's how we judged it last year at worlds, according to the time and not to the person on the mic to cut out human error.

Good call. I watched it again a few times, using a timer, and I don't think the pdx blender should count. That's a shame, because as a competitor, I used the countdown to pace my last contacts, and I really thought I pulled it off.

Then I still don't understand why you counted 25 uniques, instead of 26.

This is a topic for another thread, but I disagree with this scoring method.

I'm going to re-count Lon's shred, but for now, I'm going to change Jim and my scores on Max's list. Lon's Shred30 seems to have a weird clock issue too, Mike, when did you start the timer for Lon's shred?

Ken Somolinos' Shred 30

dimwalk-fog-parkwalk-ripwalk-sidewalk-ripwalk-sidewalk-blur-legbeater- bedwetter-smear-paradon-pdx whirl-pdlo-possible pixie clipper- infinity-ripwalk*-ducking butterfly-diving butterfly-ducking butterfly- DROP*- butterfly*-ducking clipper-pdx mirage-symp mirage-dlo- DROP*- butterfly*-blurry whirl- butterfly*-blur*-pixie ss osis-pdx blender.

*-non unique

Contacts: 32 (as ville said: your first add starts at 2:36, and the announcer doesn't call time until after 3:07 at which point the bag is still on your foot -- so the paradox blender doesn't count.)
Uniques: 25 or 26 (It depends on if you count the butterfly from hand unique. Otherwise: 2 drops + ripwalk + blur + 2 same butterflys)
Adds: 113 (17x4add 3x5add 10x3add 2x0add)

Case 1 (Uniques=25): 201.28pts
Case 2 (Uniques=26): 204.81pts

This is how I see it anyway. Correct me if I'm wrong. Personally, I would count 26 uniques making the score 204.81, but who cares what I think?
