I haven't posted since buskerfest because I haven't really felt like I've done anything worthwhile, footbag-wise, in a few weeks. until today.
I threw the old lavers on during work at the zoo today so I could fit in a few tricks while I watched the playground. I ended up hitting inside kick set ducking illusion BS and flapper > gyro toe BS. Then, I finished up work, and had a real session at the front of the zoo in proper shorts and lavers. it was HOT.
I played with my new Johnny bag and my '06 Lonn circa Funtastik (which has just recently become choice, and ooohhh is it choice). I hit whirling swirl BS after not too many tries... that trick is really weak on my flip. came kinda close to midtime barraging flail a few times, it's so awesome. I bet I can hit it.
Then, I hit symp flurry BS, just to make sure I can still do it. I still haven't hit flip flurry. Then, I hit some mobii BS, and whale tail BS. Then, fear > atom smasher BS, I don't think I'd tried that link before. Also, swirling mobius to demonstrate a move I'd invented for my brother.
Then, I worked on a little two-bag juggling, and got 5 or 6 contacts on my good toe, and 2 or 3 on my bad toe. Needs work. Then, I put one bag on each toe, set the left, then the right, and caught them both on my right foot, then did a little string with both bags at once. Working on 2-bag tricks is really cool because it's not that strenuous on the body, but still REALLY difficult and sweet-looking.
Then, I hit Mosher's tail, which I was really glad about. I held it for a while in handstand position, too. What a cool move.
Then, I started workin on Montage, on both sides. It took a long time, but I got it twice on my strong side (on command the second time) and footed it a bunch of times on the flip. it's super close.
Montage is kind of a big deal to me. It's a generation marker, in some ways... I remember last year in poland, there were some YOUNG teenagers hitting it effortlessly, and that bothered me when I just couldn't do it. I look forward to getting it more solid.
So, that was my playing for the day. I had a great time hitting some new stuff and some old stuff. I hardly worked on strings at all, though, I really need to get on that.
In other news...
I was thinking of staying in Fredonia for the summer, but the gig situation didn't work out to be making enough money, and I couldn't really get enough work from my landlord, so I moved back to the zoo where I can work full time and work on some gigs to supplement my income. Tomorrow is an audition day for a good gig at a local restaurant, I'll update on that in my next post. There are some local footbag enthusiasts, I look forward to playing with them again soon.
Also, I met a girl.
she helped me drive some of my stuff back from fredonia, then stayed for the night. I took her for a tour around the zoo, and she got a short video on her phone of me kissing the oldest spider monkey in the world and a picture of us wrapped up in a red-tailed boa constrictor. Her name is Keely and she has lots of tattoos (including a big green skull and flowers on her arm, and her cats just on and below her belt line in the front
) and a pink faux-hawk and a diamond stud in her upper lip on the left side. She's fun and sweet and hot and easy to get along with and really laid back. I don't know what direction this relationship is going in, in that she's moving to florida soon, but we have a good time together, and I hope I can see her a few more times this summer. We're planning on it. We'll see what happens, I'm optimistic. She's a hip chick.
So, now I'm back in Rome. Got some gigs to do, and some work at the zoo. I hope the digges brothers will come to see me, as I miss them both. I'm looking forward to the summer tournament season (although I don't know what my next one will be). I am sad about missing ECFC (the first one I haven't attended in 4 or 5 years) and seeing the Cleaver sweep the events, but I'm still on the scene, I'll catch all of you later this summer.
I love footbag. I hope you do, too.

I just opened up the drawer-o'-crap in my parent's house, and my long lost Felix footbag was sitting in there!! it had a busted stitch, but I can fix that, because it's a pent. I guess I left it at the beach house during the session with the digges brothers and pat.
my body is sore from going so hardcore at the end of the session yesterday on my quest to hit montage. Well, not even sore really, just tight. I'll be fine. I hope my audition goes well. Wish me luck...

Most of the East Coast shredders that attended ECFC missed you, including me. I hope to see you at Funtastiks, though.
PS: I'm about to start stitching up a tester bag for you, just so that i can get more criticism on my stitching from a fellow stitcher. I'll PM you sometime soon for details.

Thanks to all my homeys for posting
especially that last one, thanks waylon. I didn't want to ask, but to tell you the truth, I had been wondering if anyone had noticed that I wasn't there, considering I'm at almost everything else
had a cool session yesterday with some rome players. one of them hit mosher's tail first try and held it for a long time, and almost stood up out of it, he brought it all the way back down to standing position. we had a good time, but I played like shit. oh well. I'm off to play with ben rea. that should be fun, and it rhymes!

Hey Matt! I had shitloads of fun playing and especially chilling with you at Buskerfest!
I should have the video online by the end of next week... though there are things I wanna add that I probably shouldn't until that other video is finished.
Thanks again for getting and bringing me the G-Units! I modified them and played in them yesterday, they fuckin rock!
It's great to hear you met such a cool chick. Get that vid & pic if you can.
I wanna wrap myself in a red-tailed boa constrictor too!!! It's been a while since I have... (honestly, Paul's stepdad has one, as well as a few other giant snakes...) So cool. I gotta come that zoo sometime!
Anyway, I hope I see you again soon. What's the next tournie you're going to?

Just sitting here enjoying a lunchtime beer and sandwich... 15 minutes to post. Luckily, I don't have much to say.
I am super glad that the CHAT WARS banner is back up. Although, I should have been Han Solo, because my chest is hairier than tom's.
I REALLY appreciate all the posts by others in my blog lately. Coming on and seeing my blog updated is one of the most gratifying things about modified for me
Camille, it was great to see you, too, and I'm glad you're loving the shoes. I enjoyed your present, too, I have a funny story about that that I think you'll appreciate next time we're together, TOFU, hopefully? Worlds does not look like it's happening, so it's time to rock the east coast again this summer. I'm glad about the chick, too. She's pretty hip, and I'm starting to think she really likes me
So, good times on the horizon. Maybe I can get her to come to a footbag thing with me. She'd probably be into it as long as I promise to keep her stoned
nooooo problem at a canadian footbag tournament, right? I'll let you know about that pic / video... great to hear from you, can't wait to play again.
Ben, glad you had a good time, I did too. I love playing with new players. I don't want to pressure you, but I still think you should get some lavers. Your current shoes are kinda shaped like lavers, and they work, but I promise you, lavers are 100 times better. Ask your mom how you can make $50 working around the house and spring for a pair, you WON'T regret it, I promise. The guy who made my rainbow sherbet spiral footbag is none other than east coaster extraordinaire, Johnny Suderman. it's a great bag, and I can't wait to break it in more and more. it's not as stally as my lonn, but having a good, small, sharp footbag like that can really help clean up your game.
To answer your PS's, 1. pheremones are a good thing when it comes to the ladies, 2. Thanks, I found it in my old apartment building when some people moved out, 3. I really did indeed have fun, and I look forward to playing again. I hope some of your friends can make it out, too. Any shred party where I get free pizza is a good one.
So, what's new, hip still hurts from montage day, but I haven't played in a few. I was thinking of playing today, but I'm going cliff jumping / rope swinging after work today, maybe I'll play tomorrow and hit that flip montage. that would be SWEET.

Dear Matt,
We missed you at Montreal and in general. Come visit us soon. I'm hoping to make TOFU, but I don't think Tom can when he's already booking off 2 weeks to go to Worlds. Perhaps you can stop into Kingstonia for a visit pre or post TOFU? We have lots of plans and hopes for Kickass 2. It would be neat if you could help us make a sponsorship package to hand out to potential sponsors. Perhaps even some tips from you about how you got redbull to sponsor New Years Jam would be appreciated. I'm still always online, but just not always there. Drop me a line. There's much to talk about and it's always best said in person. You've not seen the new incarnation and cast of the apartment yet.
Sincerely,
~Peng

Had a fun session today with Jerrod. It was short, though, because it was so hot out! we were only out for an hour or so before we couldn't take it any more. I had some cool stuff... spinning ducking mirage both sides, not sure if I've done that before. also, jani walker > ps whirl BS. fear > atom smasher > legbeater > blur both sides, now I just have to put them together. Should have that next session. No montage today, but whirlwind bsos first try, with 2 whirlwinds on the strong side (not consec).
Also, I finished MC #27 today, the first footbag I've made in two months. I tried some different things, including a different filler of lead shot, poly pellets, and facile. I also used more gather, and fixed a flaw with my stitching that Tom pointed out for me at GRASS. Thanks, Tom, I hope this helps. It was sent to Josh Lewis as a tester for the second version of my bags. I hope he likes it. I should make one for myself. Maybe I'll start that one tomorrow or tonight.
Now I'm going to look into an open mic at which to perform tonight.

I got a sweet new footbag in the mail the other day, it's a Jake Raye, brown with light blue pents. I've been playing with it for the past two days, and it's sweet, breaking in really fast. I used it today a bit at work, and I hit swirling gyro butterfly with it, came close to swirling bullwhip. That will be cool when I hit it.
TOFU was pretty small, it was okay. It was great to meet JP, though, he's a really cool montrealer who's a bit new to the game, but he knows how to party and he has good style, so we got along just fine. I ate mushies and a poutine and got worried about the disappearing rochester crew and breathed on a vape tube a lot and played well the first day and not the second day. i hit a new move, pendulous roundoff, a roundoff being when you put both hands down, do a 180 turn in the air, and land back on your feet. Playing kickball on day two was fun, the game was pretty close, but Team Victory fell to Team Flying High Five at a score of 18 to 20 or something.
