Demonstrative Speech

I have to do a demonstrative speech for my com 100 class. I'm gonna do footbag, but I don't really know where to start. I also have to talk while doing this. So how should I do this? Any help would be useful!

Do an instructional routine? Explain what you're doing while making the movements. What are the requirements for your project?

I just have to demonstrate how to do something, for 3 to 6 min. That's all the requirements there are.

try this...
-explain what fotbag is
- show them basic kicks
-basic delays
-explain move components, and add categories
-show them basic moves
-explain jobs notation
- then show some basic runs
- a short explanation on advanced freestyle
- then make up a conclusion
(of course you will be showing them by actually playing footbag right?)

When I did a demonstrative speech I made sure not to do anything that would leave me tired or out of breath until the very end.

I opened by showing 20 seconds of a pro. video, then explained how it is not Hack-Um-Sack-Um and gave a very brief history of it, showed the difference between hard full crochet bean bags (needs to be floppy to be better for stalling), talked about shoes (round skater shoes vs. lavers), demonstrated kicks, the basic stalls (toe, inside, outside, clipper) as I told them some key suggestions, talked about doing everything on both sides, demonstrated basic tricks (ATW, legover, mirage) then slightly harder tricks (drifter, fairy ss mirage, plo, or other stuff like that). At the end I showed them a simple string after I did the closing chunk of speech.

The most important thing is knowing what you're going to talk about, and practicing the speech before it's due. Don't forget to time yourself.

Sounds like my senior project all over again. Good advice Emmo.

Thanx for all the help, I did something along the lines of what you said Emily. It came off with out a hitch! By far my best speech of the semester! Thanx!

Hey! I just gave a footbag Demo Speech in my speech 101 class. I used the "Presenting footbag to group" Sticky in general footbag. It helped lots.
