Yes it will... I'm a different player from when we kicked last. It will be epic!

Replaced the grips and saddle on my mountain bike. Played some squares. Visited my parents. Got put in handcuffs for the second time in my life and had a pleasant conversation with the officer about bike locks.

Quite the interesting day I had.

They thought I was buying weed from someone. Apparently the neighborhood is getting bad with gangs and drugs. I just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Narcs came around the alley as I was riding past some people. I rode past their car and they backed up to stop me and check me out. It wasnt too bad, other than the fact that this cop had hands the size of ceiling fans, and they were cold... so cold...

I saw Kolo post earlier today.

NYJ Flashback:
Mathieu, Kolo and I were waiting in the lobby of the McCormick Center for Meinard to pull up in his car. I remembered Kolo making a comment about needing to sell enough footfighters to buy bus tickets back home.

Zeke:So, did you guys sell enough bags to get bus tickets?

Kolo: ...

Mathiew:Oh, we bought those before we left for Chciago.

Kolo: SHADDUP!!!!!!!!

Mathieu: ...

All 3 of us started laughing pretty hard

Rode some light trails in the morning with Meinard and one of his coworkers on our montain bikes. Lots of fun but personaly I could have done without all the horseshit. It was too bad Meinard got winded after a few miles, I was ready to keep on going. Just as well though, it was not too long after that I realized that I was supposed to kick at Welles at 2.

Finaly got to the park about 3:45 and a bunch of people were all ready there.
Pretty much played squares the whole rest of the afternoon. Didn't win any games, it would be easy for me to say I was tired from the riding but I dont think that was it. I was making a point to be play with more flash today, just for the sake of putting on a show. Managed a few later rallies but someone would often get the win before me. Nathan and I did have an epic duel with each other, the bag must have passed back and forth between us at least a dozen times before I managed to get the kill at close quarters. Fun day. Great day.

I've been biking more often since I've changed the saddle. It's a much more comfortable ride now. I'll be changing the knobby stock tires to something with a smoother tread since I ride primarily on pavement, I'd like a little more speed and efficiency. It comes down to either the Continental Town & Country or Specialized Hemisphere Armadillo's. The T & C tires are a bit cheaper and came highly recommended from a friend that used to work at a bike shop. From the reviews it seems to have better grip on hard packed dirt than the Specialized tires.

Just got back from Taste. Played squares in the grass most of the time. Hacked a bit with Ronnie but he had to call it quits a bit early cuz he pulled a muscle. Usually I have a great time kicking with him but I just didnt have the energy to really keep up.

Did get to eat at Fontanos before I played - I love the place.

Superman Returns was good. Not great, not horrible. Ending kinda dragged on a bit.

Man, I'm tired

Cant wait to see my nieces on Sunday.

Biked to Taste of Chicago against the wind. Hooked up with Nathan to crash hack circles. We met an interesting fellow who claimed to work for the gov't and has used the Hubble (sp?) telescope and knows everyone at NASA. He also did a tour in Vietnam where he shot women, children and dogs. He says there's a lot of stuff out there that we just don't know about...

Biked back home with the wind at my back for the most part. Legs were pretty tired carrying the bike up 3 flights of stairs but I made. Just barely.

Can't wait to see my nieces tomorrow.

June in Review

Last month's goals:
X Ride an extra mile or two before and after work 8)
_ Eat less greasy foods
X Drink more water
X Stretch in the morning
X Drill some basics 8O

Ok, so I really haven't been watching what I eat. I have been drinking more water. I try to make it a point to stay hydrated before and during a ride on my bike. I should drink more water while I'm at home and at the office, though. I've been sprinting up and down Legion Park after work. Made a few upgrades to my bike which makes riding more enjoyable, or at least less painful after extended periods. Probably changing the tires this week and I need to replace a shifting pod and get a tune up. Did some easy offroad trails one weekend and I'm anxious and excited to do some more.

The weather last month was fair. A few rainy days but I don't remember it affecting much footbag. It has not been very humid, mostly around high 70's and low 80's throughout. Pretty good footbag weather. The apartment has stayed relatively pleasant despite not having an air conditioner. The cirrculation of fresh air is actually pretty good in the house. A few well placed electric fans have helped on days near the 90's.

Had a few practice sessions last month, mostly with Reile and/or Nathan. Drilled some basics. Reile helped a lot with my weak clipper. Playing 2-square is a lot of fun, it's helped to get my left outside kick to a level where I'm confident enough to use it more often. I've been pretty much out of touch with a lot of the local kickers. I rarely set up jams anymore and I don't call as many people as I should to come out. I don't check myspace and the footbag groups in it and I've generaly found modified to be... boring. I like to play footbag but reading about it just bores the hell out of me now. I'm also just tired of making x amount of calls 2-3 times a week just to hear peoples excuses and to play with 1/2 to 1/3 of the players I've contacted. Footbag has been equal parts fun and frustrating lately.

I need to start jogging again. That will definately get me to stretch out routinely. As much fun as cycling has been lately, running really makes me feel better as far as clearing my head out. When I bike I have to keep an eye out for traffic, stupid people and other obstacles. I don't have to worry about while running in a park. I can really just block out the rest of the world and focus on pushing myself to go further.

_ Eat healthier
_ Jog at least once or twice a week.
_ Keep in touch with footbaggers
_ Keep drilling basics
_ Drink MORE water

4th at my parents. I spent most of the afternoon playing with my twin nieces. They've finally gotten used to me and can even say my name, sorta. Wow, do these little girls have a lot of energy! One of them would be at one end of the house making a mess while the other was doing the same at the other end. It's worth it though for the random hugs and kisses they give in between sessions of tearing up the house, hehe.

So while I was there I found an old (97) suspension fork that my older brother bought to build a bike. The fork may be 9 years old but it's completely unused, it was still in the box. It's still a higher grade than the stock fork that came with my Rockhopper (99). Even better than finding a free suspension fork is the fact that it's THIS COLOR!!!!!!!. Took it to a local bike shop today to swap forks. I wanted to change to semi-slick tires too but they were out of stock.

Just got back from Taste. Hooked up with Freddy and took him to Fontanos for lunch. Started to hack with Freddy when some kid that remembered me from last years festival came up and kicked with us. He was usually with his dad, who is a great hacker and I've kicked with on many occasions at the festivals. Then my extremely acute hack detecting senses found a circle at the end of the field. We hooked up with Nathan and hacked in that circle for most of the day.

I love crashing circles.

I'm considering doing the Late Night Ride next weekend. It's a 25 mile charity bike ride late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. No idea what the hell the charity is about, I just wonder if I could cruise that long at such an odd time. Can't wait to pick up my bike later today just to see how he new fork looks. I probably won't be able to even test ride it until Sunday.

I did that with my father and sister when I was 13 or so. It's pretty fun, they have all the roads blocked off and you go all around the city (i think you go down an empty lsd too, which is pretty surreal) and they have a bunch of stopping points in different parks where they give you free snacks and drinks to keep you going. The most vivid memory I have from it was coming out of a relatively gentle hill to see an elderly lady veering towards me out of control and having the most lethargic slow-motion bicycle accident with her. It wasn't bad, but she fell onto the pavement and scrapped her knee a little and I felt kind of bad, but I kept riding and pretended I didn't notice it happened
