You're missing the point. Legoes aren't cute. They're geometric and for constructing bad assery and fostering geometric and spatial understanding in kids. Now they're just garbage -- all the imagination is taken out. There is no longer any creative process with all this new shit. Plus, the wierd pieces Lego kicks at you are not flexible at all. Who wants to use a big pineapple when making a dope city scape or something? Bah.

Since I used to bring loads of money to the Lego corporation in the past, I feel I've got to write something here.

Exactly. There's too much "special" parts nowadays - if you want to make a hidden sliding door to your knight castle, you don't have to figure out how it goes, you just buy one.

Plus, it's all going to this more and more violent collectable stuff, like the Bionicles or whatever they were called. It used to be real - cities, wild west, space, underwater, pirates etc., now it's Harry Potter™©® and Sponge Bob™©®™©®™©®.

Yeah I see what you guys are saying...I was disappointed back when I played with them too. I hate how now you just add wheels to a car frame and easy stuff like that, but whatever. I just thought it would be something cute and fun to add to my collection...if I even bought it. I wouldn't add it to all of my city Legos and stuff, though.

You're missing the point, too, Zeke.

Look at the Spongebob set pieces. Look at the pieces Mladen uses. Similar? Hardly. Sure it's possible to be creative with big pineapples, but it limits you. When the pieces are as flexible as possible creativity is that much easier to achieve.

edit: MLADEN IS RAD. Makes me want to get my old legoes out!!

Sometimes creativity is not easy. Often times it takes thought, hard work and inspiration to make something amazing out of nothing. Overcoming challenges to create something great makes it that much sweeter.

We're saying the same thing, I think I just need to rephrase. Having flexible pieces is like having nothing. Of course it can be an amazing challenge to be creative. These ridiculous pieces are like a sullied slate as opposed to a blank one. Where are newer kids coming into the wide world of Lego about to get all of colors and simple pieces they need to truly be imaginative with this medium? eBay?

I always hated it when people said "Legos".
I always thought that the plural of Lego remained Lego, unless you're saying "Lego bricks". My brother made a ton of castles out of the original colour bricks too and they were so rad. He bought, like, 3 tubs of the regular bricks. We also had some of the actual castle sets (the older ones) which were still neat and inspired things like how to make your own hidden passages.

I was always more into Playmobile, though, and so we had battles between his Lego knights and my Playmobile knights
