Monkey Claw!!!

Post by Jman9089 »

So I noticed the term "monkey claw", which i think is the way you hold your hand when you play :?: ... But, I'm not sure, and if it is what's the point, does it even matter whether or not you do it? It's just something I've been wondering about because I've seen it pop up a bunch of times and it doesn't really seem like a natural thing to do when you play, although I have seen many monkey claw's in videos. Should I try to play monkey claw style?

Yeah, monkey claw is the way you hold your hand. It's not good, generally seen as ugly. I have right hand monkey claw  but I really don't care. It looks ugly but I'm more concerned with what my feet are doing than my hands. Apparantly holding objects in your hands while playing can help eliminate it. Maybe I'll do that one day.

my left hand locks into monkey claw mode usually when I play with my left foot. I dont think its a bad thing, but it looks kinda tacky. but hey if your shred is good, then who cares?

I usually end up having a bag or two in one hand. I sometimes find myself having really awkward hand positions. But overall I think it's just time that sort of cleans that stuff up.

I don't really think ANYBODY does their hand stuff intentionally. I give thumbs up when I play....at least when I'm busting a big string. Straight up don't worry what your hands are doing. Arms are important, and hands are just at the end of your arms, and that's about it.

Since aparently this has like changed to the thread about what we do with our hands when we play, whenever my foot goes into an inside stall like position, that side hand turns as my foot does, meaning my hand rotates at my wrist, so that its palm up, my right doesnt anymore, but my left does, its sort of funny

and when i used to skateboard my right hand always was in that snapping position when i did stuff

I think its a natural thing, and we cant really help it, but it eventually it goes away, and you graduate to a new wierd position :-P
