thanks mike, i had a great time at tofu a lot of awesome shred went down, some pretty rockin partying went down
friday evening chris and i arrived in ottowa at seaths girlfriends house and we were the only ones to show up friday, so seath, chris, dan wax and i had a session, and then we went inside and had a beer. at about 10 oclock seath had to go pick up his g/f aka adrian from work and me, chris, dan, dans g/f erin, and mike (party host) went to a (different) house party like a half hour away from where we were staying. i didnt drink really because i was the DD so instead i spread the gospel of footbag. when the partiers heard there were americans in their midst they of course wondered what we were doing in ottowa, and instead of trying to explain it, we showed them. chris and i put on a demo for probably over an hour and at one point or another, everyone at the party was watching us.
when we left the party, me chris and mike went to the house that mike was house sitting to sleep. we had left all of our stuff at seaths house so the next morning we went and picked it up and then headed downtown for shred, we got there around noon.
canada day in ottowa is definately a unique experience, i was there last year but it rained pretty hard for a large part of the time so we hid under a bridge. this year on the other hand it was beautiful and sunny and pretty hot out. i got down to playing right away and after an hour and a half or so, i was done for a while. so i took some magical munchibles and after 20 minutes they'd kicked in, and i decided that playing hacky sack might be fun. of course one thing led to another and i was shredding again. there was one point during this ordeal that i ended up in a circle with just yascine merzouk and nick laroche, that had to be the most fun circle of the weekend.
well after that was over, instead of going to watch the fireworks like originally planned, we (meaning everyone else) went straight to the burbs to party. in my car was chris dean and nick laroche, and as we were getting in my car, chris (who at the time had eaten some munchables himself) suggests we get beer. now, ontario doesnt sell beer on national holidays, but quebec does. ottowa borders a city that is part of the province of quebec (though not attached to the "mainland" of quebec) and there is a rather large river seperating ottowa and quebec. we decided that because quebec was so close we should just drive over the river and buy beer to bring to the party. i said sure and so our journey started. we spent over an hour driving around downtown ottowa just trying to find the bridge that leads to quebec. unfortunately the fireworks are shot off over the river and everyone lines the bridges to watch them, so it was damn near impossible to actually get there.
after getting wrong directions from like 15 people, and unusable right directions from like 15 people, i said, "fuck it, lets go to the party" so we got onto the expressway and followed the directions we were given, which were wrong. we got on the first expressway and started looking for signs for the next one, which didnt exist so we kept driving, we got about 40 kilometers from the city when we finally realized we were definately not going the right way. we made some phone calls and found out where the descripency was in the directions, headed back to ottowa, and went and got drunk and vaped.
all in all it was a 3 hour car ride but it was also the most fun i had all weekend.
sunday was super laid back, even for a footbag jam. after going and eating breakfast at seaths work (super awesome food!) we picked up beer and headed back to the house, where shred insued, as well as across the street in the baseball field, soccer baseball happened and was fun to watch, but about 20 minutes in to the game, i went and had a nap. when i woke up, chris was asking if we could hit the road. as it was 6:30 at that time, i said, lets rock out because it takes 4.5 hours to get home and chris had work at 7am.
so tofu II was a success, and a lot of fun, i hope everyone else agrees too.

After the long Fourth-of-July weekend I thought it would be a good idea to shred my butt off tonight - and that is just what I did.
For one thing, my warm-ups included things like barflies and paradox whirls and paradox eggbeaters. I do NOT recommend warming up with moves you cannot perform very well. This leads to sprains, strains, and pains in places you did not know you had muscles. Fortunately for me, I survived my session with only dehydration, dizziness, and severe fatigue.
Here is a list of some of tonight's session highlights:
- paradox eggbeater > paradon > paradox eggbeater, para-DROP
- paradox whirl > paradox whirl
- ducking paradox mirage > paradon (both sides, not BSOS)
- smear > ducking mirage > double switchover (both sides)
- magellan > smear > pixie legover > repeat! > string
- magellan > pixie legover > repeat! > smear > pixie legover > smear > pixie-DROP
- quantum mirage (mid string - many times throughout the night - once on flipside)
- ripwalk > ripwalk (a few times throughout the night)
- blizzard > butterfly > blizzard > butterfly > string
- weaving clip > diving clip > ducking clip > repeat! (same as in "drills" video)
- diving clip > zulu clip > repeat! (finally - been trying this for awhile)
- terrage > terrage (like whoa - felt effortless - as the start of a long string)
- repear (both sides - only once per side - wastes a lot of energy)
- far rake (BSOS - need more rakes in my strings)
- sweat > paradox sweat > sweat > paradox sweat (all over the place)
- pixie > knee bump > knee bump > whirl (both sides - yeah Vasek!)
- spinning clip > spinning clip > string (both sides - one time three in a row)
- ducking legover > paradon (BSOS)
- ducking clip (about 15 or 16 times in a row as my last string of the night)
Now I am extremely drained and tired. Time to have some juice and visit the greenhouse
.
Good... so tired... night... all you... prffffff...

Hey guys, just a reminder, Geneseo is hosting "some kind of summer festival" says Chris Dean. I would like to shoot out to Geneseo on Sunday around 11 AM or so and return to Rochester around 4 PM. If anyone is interested in riding with me, let me know in this footblog so everyone else will know what is going on.
By the way, my last shred session (described a few posts back) was so strenuous that I made myself sick. Immediately following the session I felt dizzy and disoriented. I drank a big glass of orange juice and my stomach started cramping up. That night I could not get comfortable. My leg muscles were getting little cramps in them every now and then, especially my left calf muscle. I couldn't seem to get enough fluids in me, and I was not able to eat much or stomach much food. Be careful guys. Don't make yourself sick. Shred hard, but smart.
Anyway, go to Geneseo Sunday NOON.
Peace!

Correction, I may not be going to Geneseo on Sunday. I just remembered that I made a commitment to a bike trip with a group of people that I work with. It may come to pass that the bike trip is cancelled. If the bike trip is cancelled, I will go to Geneseo. As it stands right now, I am commited to the bike trip.
Sorry guys. That doesn't mean YOU can't go to Geneseo, so go to Geneseo.

Whoa mike! I need to shred with you soon... you're working on a great variety of moves. I like that youre doing spinning clip>ducking clip repeat and lots of whirls. Keep it up
I haven't played in about a week because of my right foot. It hurts to crank, but ice and tiger balm are making it better quickly. Im gonna give it plenty of time because it's a new pain and I don't trust it. So for the last two days I had short sessions using only my toes and left clipper. They're two things I need to work on- I can focus more on not dropping so much on my toes and on a lot of my flip clipper moves. Lots of swirls, gyro, spinning, and blenders on my flipside. Everything on both toes.
Highlights: alpine atomsmashers, smogs, fogs, whirling swirls, same symple swirls, vortex>vortex, torque>vortex, spinning butterfly x 7, food processor>hand catch>food processor>hand catch>food processor hand catch, then failed at the next 10 food attempts, blurry drifter x 3.
Again, all of those clipper moves are on my flipside, which makes for a very pleased christopher.
When I'm better we'll totally shred together. Like way.

I've been doing a lot of talking lately and no showing. So, here it is, a video of some of the moves and combos I have been talking about.
http://www.footbag.org/gallery/show/-8930
P.S. Chris, incredible. I haven't seen you hit some of the moves you listed. I can't wait to shred with you.
Enjoy.

hey all, my names doug tank and i guess im what youd call a noob.
ive been "hackin" for about a year or so and i really want to improve and play with more professional footbaggers. I live in pittsford, ny and was wondering if there were any specific locations or times that some guys from the rfa got together and just freestyled it for a little, like a club at RIT or U of R. My sn's worldsocold126, so if someone could just IM me and give me some information thatd be very much appreciated, or just post a reply on the forum, thatd be great. Thanx a lot!
p.s. sry if i posted this in the wrong section or anything

hey mike, I watched your new video with Keely the other day, we really liked it. I'm really loving the control on the new clipper moves, especially barfly and whirls! I was thinking of a move you might like last night while I was driving home... it's like a terraging op foot clipper, and you do the second dex almost whirly... so, it's like a pixie ss whirl, but you do the dexes at once like a double dex style without the bag coming above your knee... a reverse DOD, maybe? sounds like your kind of trick, what with your terrages being so solid.
Thanks for the video, I can't wait to make one with you.

Matt,
Thank you for commenting on my video. I had a lot of fun making it and was really happy I pulled off the moves I wanted to show everyone.
As for the reverse double over down, I have tried that move a few times but have yet to hit it. I need to get my terrage dexes a bit higher, which will lead me to moves such as toe flurry, terraging butterfly as well as terraging same side butterfly.
I kicked Saturday with Aric and yesterday with Paul. Both days I did not do well. Sure, I hit a few of my new moves and combos, but all in all my string length average was short.
I need to get serious again with my diet. I started a diet about two months ago. I lost ten pounds in the first month, but over the last four weeks I have been hovering around 180. Today will be a good day to get back into it. More salads, less meats, and most importantly more footbag.
