My opinion on cutting your losses:

Yes, cut them off like a butcher cuts off that unwanted fat from his meat, ifyaknowutimsayn.

Man, the last week and a half has been Ka-ra-zee. I went in on a new car with my gf last saturday, and two days later she crashes the shit out of it. And by new I mean it's a 2007, so I have a smashed up car that just turned negative 6 months old :? :x  . Great. So I'm spending the whole next week trying to straighten everything out with insurance and getting the run-a-round by both the dealership and the police in obtaining the info i need to make the claim. It took calling the dealership everyday until friday to finally get the insurace binder information i needed to make the claim. Four whole days to get one number that should have been provided with the purchace of the car all during a very time critical siutaion! Very frusterating. On top of that there was a complication with the some info I needed from the police. Anyway it all added up to the insurance not covering it and the four to five thousand dollar repair needing to be paid out of pocket :? . Fortunately she's taking care of the pocket aspect, but it's still a pain to deal with all this right now, especially since right as we finally started making progress with the car I get a call from my father regarding my little sister who had just been arrested. Not just for some minor offences either, she is in a LOT of trouble this time. Her bond after the first hearing was set at $100,000, and that was just state, the feds might still possibly be getting involved :( . I'm not going to get into the specifics too much, but i heard it involved a lot of drugs, and guns, and cars. None of this sounds anything like the sister I know, but she got herself roped into a really dangerous life with her asshole boyfriend. I knew she wasn't in a good situation with him, but I had no idea it was this bad. And she's 5 months pregnant. I'm so worried about her, but I just can't think of anything I can do to help  . Keep your fingers crossed for her, she really is a good girl, she just makes horribly bad decisions sometimes. Anyway, I'll do a complete 180 here and end it on a happier note. DESPITE all that, I've been doing great personally. I've been clean for over a month now, and it feels great to get that horse of my back :D . It wasn't exactly easy, but it was far less difficult than I expected. Also I freestyled with Tom, Freddy, and Jake yesterday and it was soooo fun. Tom and I were both trying downtime backside toe-blizzards. He nailed it both sides so easily, eventually I hit it too on one side. Also Jake asked if anyone hits far double pickups, to which I repsonded that I used to but can't hit them anymore. I tried to demonstrate that fact but ended up hitting it on both sides right away 8) . Then I tried a new concept for me which is downtime rev swirling rake. I've done it by itself before but never out of other sets. It's so fun and surprisingly easy. I did pixie, stepping far, and spinning rev swirling rake. The pixie one felt like smog with the legover done xboy, maybe i didn't do it clean enough. Jake has gotten so good, i was really surprised. He's got such an aggressive toe game. Tom was turrin' it up as usual. It was just a fun jam all around.

Thanks for reading,

Had a fun session last sunday. Started out with a frusterating but fun game of 6-square. I got to 20 first without too much trouble, but choked on gamepoint. Nathan got to 20 not long after and also choked. We then exchanged at least 3-4 failing turns each in the king square at gamepoint until Freddy made it to 20 and joined us in not winning. Eventually Marty got to gamepoint and broke the streak and won. It just goes to show you, it doesn't matter who is at game point or who is winning, always aim to kill Marty. "But Zeke is in the server square at gamepoint and getting Marty out will end the game" you say? It doesn't matter, KILL MARTY. "But Marty's not even playing right now, he's just standing in line." No excuses, aim for him, even if he's no where near a square and it gets you out. Seriously, do it.

Anyway......... after that tragedy I went over to shred a little with Tom and Al. I wasn't planning on playing more than a few turns, but ended up playing for little bit. Nothing serious, just trying small combos and moves. Al hit a bunch of milestone moves, Blur, Stepping Bfly, another ripwalk and DATW. Then Tom randomly hit Scorpion's Tail for the first time and it was Mr. Clean. So then Tom and I both try a bunch of Scorpion's Tail to try and get the timing down for it. I hit 3-4 that I felt really good about and another 2 or so that didn't feel as good. After scorps I managed to fluke a flipeside mobius which is super hard for me. I thought it was the first time, but I went home and checked my list and I had hit it before. Still felt cool though. Came real close to Pixie Mobius again. I feel like I should just hit it already but it's always slightly out of reach. I guess that's it 8)

Sorry to hear about ur sister. One thing I've learned about siblings getting into trouble several times - don't put ur name on anything, and don't give em money. Hopefully you can help, but mostly by influence and not by bailing out ;). That usually doesn't solve it.

Footbag:
I'm really happy to be able to play with you again. 3 times in 2 weeks or something :D :D . We gotta get back to prime so we can open up some footbag whoop ass.

Other:
I'm really proud of your 1 month cleanliness. Keep it up.
Thanks much for coming out for my birthday - I hope you had a bit of fun, and sorry about the long night.
Let's have more roast beef soon.
Let's BBQ and footbag this weekend then go to HB's for ur birthday (not saturday as I'm going to a wedding).

Wow, three and a half pages back, it's been a while. Footbag's been kind of slow over the last few weeks. My gf had to have some minor surgery last week so I've been staying home with her until she could go back to work. Pretty boring, but it gave me the time to finally catch this mouse that's been running around her apartment for a while :) . I walked into her kitchen and it was just chillin there in front of her garbage so I slammed a plastic basket over it as fast as I could and carried it to this cemetary a block away from her building and threw it over the fence. It was pretty cute for vermin. I made it out to Taste last Sunday which was pretty fun. It was the first time I *really* got to shred with Jeff and Chris and I can't belive how good they've gotten in such a short time. Tom was going off even more than usual that day, regularly hitting 20+ contact strings 8O . Shawn came out :D . It's been a while since I've seen him, so that was cool. He's progressing fast too. Al, Nathan, and Freddy came out, but I barely kicked with them cause I was so determined to get a full session in with the FCFC boys. Next time. Anyway, on the third, Tom, Zeke, and I went out late at night to shoot off some fireworks. Okay, so before I start I should note that fireworks are illegal in Illinois, but the enforcement of that law is relatively lax on the 4th. The first spot we find is in this park a block north of legal professional fireworks show. We start shooting off a few small one and this killjoy bitch comes up and askes up to stop doing the "loud boomy ones," which were obviously coming from the show just south of us. We mention that to her but she just kept on standing there looking frumpy and saying "you know there illegal." What an america-hatin terrorist. Trying to stop our good time, she should know these colors don't run! Then we saw a cop driving through the park, so we ran away   . The next spot we found was nice and quiet and we shot off almost all off the rest of the fireworks. We were on the last air mortar and all of a sudden we heard all of these g-units (thugs, not shoes)yelling and starting to brawl just a little south of us in the park so we ran again :? . But before we left the park we managed to light the last air morter on the ground without the tube to see what would happen. It just made the same big crackling flower it did in the air all over the empty parking lot. That was cool :D . All in all it was a fun night. The next day I spent the actual 4th BBQ'n with my family and little niece Jade. She is frighteningly cute 8O :D

Sounds like some good fun, shamed I missed it all. That niece of yours is mighty cute, I've got my first niece also, she is horribly cute. Once she learns sentences, I'll be doomed, cause I wouldn't be able to refuse anything she asks for. Keep your feet fresh man, I'm still looking forward to NYJ :) Also, I'll prolly be making it out to Funtastiks this year, so you guys should look into that.

I can't wait for NYJ either. Funtastiks might actually be a possibility this year. My monetary situation has been leveling out lately so come september I might actually be able to afford to travel out to a tourney :) . Put me down as a very tentative yes for now......I'll see if I can drag out the homies too 8) .

So lately I've been thinking about what I like about footbag and what I want to accomplish in it. Freestyle isn't as fun as it used to be :? . I still enjoy it, but I'm no where near as driven to get better as I used to be, so I rarely practice. Then when I do play, I'm not as good as I feel I should be. Anyway, it's all pretty petty, and it's only mildly frusterating, but it led me to think about what my goals regarding freestyle (or lack thereof) are. I don't think I've ever given any real thought to it before, but I'm no longer interested in ever seriously competeing in any freestyle events other than maybe Sick 1. Also, I'm not going to worry about furthering myself as a well-rounded, both-sided shredder very much anymore. I'm just not interested in that aspect enough to devote the kind of time and energy needed to really succeed. Anyway, my new ultimate freestyle goal is to hit 100 unique triple dex moves. I looked at my list today and I'm at 78 now, so I'm not too far off. I've always been more geared towards hitting one big trick than stringing or comboing. Kinda lame I guess, but it's what I like doing :). Once I get to 100 I'll post the trick list here in my blog, and I'll have to think of something new.

I think it's hard to gauge goals in freestyle. I definitely hit the point where I feel that I don't care about progress and that freestyle is not fun. But then a few months later things change and I feel different about it. I definitely change when I satrt playing more. When I start playing all the time, my mindset changes to progress.

It is easy to just stop playing as you get busy with life... especially after your teens and early 20's. You gotta make urself play sometimes - fun comes later.

Great footbag day today. Squares were great today. I walked into the middle of the first game I played and decimated the suckas 8) . Every game was great though. There's no easy points anymore, each one is hard-earned and there are so many intense battle. I found myself several times surrounded by Zeke, Tom, Freddy, Marty, and Tony............that's an intimidating siege! Some new decent hacker joined today and seemed to like squares a lot.

After squares I had a really fun and really tiring shred session with Tom. New triple total:
85!
Woot! 7 new triple dexers sealed today, only 15 more to go :D ! we both started freestyling for a little bit but we both got tired quick and decided to try hard tricks. I came close to flipside spinning pdx dlo, but no cigar for today. Anyway new stuff today:
-drifter>barrage bs
-flip pixie DOD
-flip fairy DOD
-blurry dada
-clean pixie tap
-flip stepping same barrage 8)
- flip fusing butterfly

The flip fusing butterfly was the last thing I did and I was soooooo tired and it took soooooo many tries, but it was soooooo worth it. Actually both Tom and I were going for one specific hard trick at the end and both of us were soooooo tired and it took both of us soooooo many tries. But we both got it at the end :D . I want to brag about all of Tom's new tricks but I'll restrain myself and let him put them in his blog, it's going to be a good edition.

hey buddy. sorry its taken me so long to find your blog... or i woulda posted earlier. so my comments will be delayed but they are still meaningful.
your neice is ADORABLE! yall look cute blowing kisses.
im proud of you getting clean. when i got back from midwesterns i quit everything. even weed! and damn that was hard. i havent had a drink since those two in chicago... but before that it was about a month. i understand completely and ill say it again... im proud of ya!
no matter what happens you will always be worried about your sister. thats the way brothers work. you have good reason to worry but dont let things get the best of you.
i hope your girlfriends doing alright. she was super awesome and i still have a butane lighter she gave me where the nips and vagina light up when you click it. my twin bro tried to steal it... and well... he got a beat down. tell her i said hi!
brian and i are coming up to the new years jam. we are buying the plane tickets tomorrow (driving would suck so much balls... flying is cheaper). we will be coming up on the 26th and leaving the 31st... if there isnt a suite bought yet could we crash with you and zeke?
anyway ive gotten into footbagging! ive got atw>mirage and atw>legover. im working on pixie and clipper but i want to get the others down before i try too many moves.
well ill see you before the end of the year comes and hopefully ill hear from ya before then... until then...
