Footbag in the news :)

Post by Jeremy »

Blatent double forum post - I have no shame :)

Hey footbag made the news in a few places recently so I thought I'd share the links :)

http://imprint.uwaterloo.ca/story.php?f ... story=8657
This is a great story about a scene in Waterloo - Ontario canada (I think :P) from "imprint" which is the Waterloo university newspaper.

http://www.explorernews.com/articles/20 ... west01.txt
Another good story about a footbaging scene in Marana Arizona USA (I think) including comments by footbag champ Ken Somolinos from Explorer news paper which I think is a local community newspaper.

http://www.mlive.com/sports/aanews/inde ... xml&coll=2
This is actually an article about Freestyle flying disc (frisbee tm) but it features Greg Nelson who some of you may know is a winner of 12 world titles.

If you know of any other recent footbag related news stories feel free to post them or to comment on these :)

Wow, I read all of those articles...Perhaps just shredding in front of a local newspaper could get you a spot? I mean they are always scrounging for stories..

Ok, am I the only one who watched the 2005 Juggling Championships yesterday? I did a search but didn't see anyone mention it. It was on ESPN2 and they actually showed a freestyle footbag commercial. I had music playing so I didn't hear it but for some reason they kept promoting Duncan the entire time they showed these people shredding. None of the people looked familiar to me though. I thought it was pretty neat.

Edit: Yeah, I know that really wasn't news but I didn't feel like starting a new thread.

Yo that may be the Duncan footbag promo that is kinda starting, i think Ashley D, maybe Chrissy F did some demos for it? They 'apparently' want to start promoting footbags seriously and marketing their own 'quality' line of bags... i think?

Cool! I couldn't see what the players were doing! What a horribly shot commercial. Come on Duncan, would it have killed you to get a close-up mirage? Based on that commercial, if I had never seen the sport before, I would just say oh, they're playing hackysack. I've seen people do that.

Has anyone purchased a Duncan footbag to watch the free instructional cd-rom inside?

Sorry to pull this thread even more off topic

I own about 14 duncan bags. And I've watched the DVD. It's alright.

I can hit 5's with the spider. It's not terrible.
