Nah, I think Lon said something about hosting it in Grass Valley.

sb wrote:but damn. if Japan was ruled out due to cost of living, why not this?
Just to be clear, Japan is an impossibility for several reasons, of which cost of living is just one factor. The list looks kinda like this:

1. Expensive airfare for North Americans and Europeans. That`s 90% of the footbag world right there.

2. Expensive cost of living once you get here.

3. Lack of crash space (people already live in small apartments).

4. Hard to get around (most Japanese people have poor/no English).

5. Jet lag would mean people should probably come a couple days early, which exacerbates problems 2 and 3.

On a personal level, I also disapprove of next year`s worlds location. People forget that Henry is a pretty small guy, so that actually makes his basement look BIGGER than it actually is. It`s gonna be hella cramped. On top of that, I heard that people in Wisconsin steal credit cards, so there is also the identity theft/robbery angle to consider.

I don't think anything is final yet, and I don't see why it matters if we speculate, so long as everyone keeps an open mind and doesn't get picky about the location - it's going to be footbag worlds, it will be awesome no matter where it is!

I should be coming as it will be my first year out of uni having a job which means I should be able to afford it! I've kinda wanted to go to america for a while, and they all speak english there so that works out.

If it is disney land or world then there should be absolutly fanatical exposure to the public which we definatly want, sounds like a great step forward to me! I don't care how hot it is or how many kids there are, if there is a crowd at all the rock on! Anyway I would rather be surrounded by kinds and security than gangstas and thugs.

Henry the cloest thing you have to Vasek is the badly made clay figureine you made to resemble him which you sleep with every night.

Screw worlds, we need to pool our expenses and go find LightningBolt. Remember that chick? She's probably snowed in somewhere in Alaska cold and alone.

And you all want to go to Wisconsin. Yea, I love the community.

Just to clear up a few things (and tell you all the rumours).

First the IFPA is not some secret organisation. If you hear that something has been discussed then I think you are completely free to talk about that - I would say "unless you're told not to" but I can't see why that would be. It's obviously important to be accurate or at least to be honest in how accurate your knowledge is.

Which brings me to where worlds is this year:

To my knowledge nobody has made an official submission for hosting worlds yet so the IFPA has obviously not made an official decision. There is obviously an IFPA meeting at worlds where this could have changed but I think it's fairly unlikely that it would have happened without my knowledge (although possible). Certainly I don't know why they would wait until actually being at the meeting to present their proposal (as opposed to giving it to the IFPA prior to the event so people could read it in advance).

That said there is only one place that offered to host worlds in 2007 and that's Florida - at the Disney World sporting complex. This is not a confirmed location or event - so it could definitely still fall through - which is why it hasn't been announced - because really there is nothing concrete to be announced (again - as far as I know). However Chris Ott who is the IFPA Marketing Director has had a number of meetings with Disney and I would say that it is fairly likely from what I've been told. I can relay the exact details if people really want them, in any event they are totally open to all IFPA members by reading the IFPA board of directors email discussions - which is very dry and mainly consists of organising a phone meeting, congratulating oursevles on our charity status with the IRS and some other changes. here is the link if you are an IFPA member anyway.

You can expect an official announcement when things are confirmed. It is fairly pointless to discuss at this stage I think since nothing is confirmed.

Seriously, whatever happened to her? You`d think the community would have noticed when, what, 25% of the shreditas on the forum disappear.

Jeremy: I understand the reasoning behind your post, and it was probably the mature thing to do, but I was kinda hoping the rampant speculation could continue for a bit more, cause it was getting pretty funny

Thanks for that Ken :D, I guess no one else gets that joke, but I hear that he bought a phone that can make cheese automatically ;)

I don’t know how Disney World will work out, but it should be some awesome publicity and some fun times burning another bridge by wasting a hotel room or three.

And speaking of Worlds, I thought LightningBold was MOVING TO GERMANY... Somehow I doubt she's at worlds right now, but it would be cool if I were wrong...

I officially announce that we can use the underground parking beneath my condominium building.

I acctually had a dream that one time that this happened. I met Vasek and everything, but in the dream he had black hair and he explained the story of how the "blond haired golden child" was just some big conspiracy on hiding his true identity since he was a secret agent for the secret society that represented Earth when dealing with intergolactic communications and research.

dreams are messed...
