Preferred Shredding Surfaces
Preferred Shredding Surfaces
I thought of this topic today while I was sanding this old hardwood floor. I personally like thin carped or tennis court, but there are so many out there, I thought is would make a good topic.
Old hardwood sucks because every time you land your jump, it sounds and feels like you’re going straight through the floor to China, meanwhile hardwood in basketball courts is so solid it would take thousands of double downs to make it there, hopefully in time for tea.

as non-shock-absorbant as concrete is, I prefer it lol. It's probably horrible for my body, but I like the grip and sturdy feel. I agree that hardwood boards feel great but I've gone through 2 boards in my first 5 months of kickin. Basketball court's good too, but I'm all about the outside, so concrete it is!

I like that spongy red grippy stuff that people run track on. It grips well, and absorbs impact too.
Thin carpeting is also pretty good, as are tennis courts. I also like hardwood, as it takes impact well.
Concrete is really terrible for your legs. In the past, I found slipperiness to be a big factor in terms of what surfaces I`d play on, but since I`ve switched to G-Units, it`s much less of a concern.

wouldn't that be slippery? and if you dropped the bag would it not sink to the bottom and you would have lost it forever since you can't sink beneath water level! ...I'll stick to good 'ol clay-and-bit or thin industrial carpet.

that prolly would be really sick!! I wish there was a playground like that near me... mightent it be more difficult and more labor intensive to jump around and stuff on that though? I dunno... I gotta try it!Oroza wrote:that soft rubbery asphalt type stuff they have at playgrounds, its great

I used to like concrete/ashphalt because it was just conveniant and flat, but I went thru the sole of my newest lavers in a bit over 6 months since I got them, so I try not to shred concrete anymore.
In first year when I was nieve we shreded grass and ended up making a massive dead patch in the universitys lovely lawn because we kicked there so much, but now we know that kicking on grass is very uneven and distracting.
We have a nice place with tiles that isn't slippery (not in lavers anyway?) so we kick there because it doesn't wear down soles, also inside the central library in the bit where people eat there is a nice big space where we kick, I think they even moved the tables for us? It's tiled aswell but has an annoying strip of concrete down the middle which we try to avoid (especially whne doing spinning moves - sole killers!).
Apart from that I really like the lino in my flat in the main room and the carpet in my room is ok but absorbs too much momentum since it's quite thick.

Ever played footbag on a golf course? It has the wicked properties of grass (awesome impact absorption, nice and soft) but since it's sooooo groomed it's like shredding on a flat floor. However, the key to playing footbag on a golf course is making sure that the people that work there don't see you doing it. It tends to put dents in the grass.
