" i got the new lavers " thread

Post by shred villain »

many people have been talking about the new laver lo, and i just wanted everyone to know that i got them yesterday, and i would like to write my review so far on them. first of all, yes they are rockin imo. i got the black/white ones. i got them in an adidas store so that means they are probably in others. many people are wondering what the material is. it is ripstop nylon. it is like mesh and is woven in a criss cross way kind of like a basket. i haven't yet modified them but i am guessing for 99.9% that they are moddable. i reccommend to anyone who gets these shoes to also write a review on them. http://img381.imageshack.us/img381/1107 ... 45a3wl.jpg

Is this your first pair of lavers? Or have you had the original mesh ones?
If this is your first, I'll wait for a review of someone who has had both.

this is my fist pair of lavers (finally after playing footbag without a pair for a year). the store i bought them at did have the mesh ones so i got two compare the two a little bit. by the way, after posting my review i when outside and had my first true session with my lavers and i am in love with them. they are light and i hit my first [pixie legover](which would be my first double dex move) with them. :D

What shoes did you use before these lavers?

I think I might wait for somebody with more equipment exp. to rate them.

Then again, I might have to wait for the moshers to come out for me to buy new shoes

i was using vans old skool high tops. i modded them and i like them almost as much as my lavers except they(the vans) are heavier. i will probably hate them in a week though.

Those are pretty badass looking lavers, I've gotta say. If they're moddable and you like them, why not?

I've had a hand at the new Lavers. My view on them is that they are very different compared with regular mesh Lavers. The nylon upper is far thicker than the usual Laver mesh imho. Plus with break-in, regular mesh Lavers will have a flexible yet grippable consistency to them, but with the new nylon upper it's hard to say if there's any actual break-in. In fact, the material seems like it has a special coating that is usually found in nylon that keeps a slippery sheen to it. Maybe some dirt and aggressive shred will make the surface rougher, but I'm sure it'll take longer with these shoes than regular mesh.

However, you can't read a book by it's cover. What I found as the inner canvas for these new Lavers is a very thin fabric. Cotton maybe? I'm not sure, as I didn't have time to really analyze them. I think they're three layers to these shoes: the nylon upper, foam, and the cotton fabric under. Maybe with some experimental mods something good can come out of these new shoes. The fabric under may be too think to be modded like leather Lavers though. Though that's the case, you can easily take out the layer underneath stress free I think.

In any case, I would have to stick with regular Lavers in comparison. It's a safer bet, and there hasn't been any problems with the mesh upper or the canvas under with them. My only other concern is the sole's durability and whether if it's better than the regular mesh (not likely).

if the lavers are moddable tell us so we can know what the best aproach would be such as, remove the outer nylon mesh or to remove the inner canvis/layer. Please post a reply if u can for future reference. After the mod tell us your review and any tips.
Thank you

Eh, I don't think they are really that useable out of the box like normal lavers..... the outer mesh SUCKS ASS compaired to the normal lavers but I guess if you mod the outsides off they COULD be useable

I got a pair and there fine. I can shred as good with them as a normal pair of lavers i own. The inside of my shoe is pretty sweet because i used the most innner layer of the shoes(there are 3 layers). The shoes play fine but it took about a shred or two to break them in until they were controlable. here we go, let me give an explanation

New discovery. There are three layers on the new lavers. It has a mesh layer like the regular mesh lavers but a little waxyier, a canvis thats like the mesh lavers, and finaly the luxury layer. I used the luxury layer on my inside of my shoes and mesh as the toe. I got both red/white and the black/white new lavers so im pretty satisfied with my buy. The shoes seem to be fully upgradable. My shoes basicly have a mesh feel and a new luxury neophrene(not sure about spelling) layer.

Ill post a pic of my new red/white shoes soon. Check out the "post your shoes" thread soon

So it's been a few weeks, is everyone still happy with their ripstop lavers?

I'm busting through the soles of my current pair of LEs and I'm thinking about getting some of the ripstops cause they're just too sweet.

Any tips on modding? Is it easy to cut through the ripstop if you want to without destroying the shoe?

Are there any ripstop modding pics out there?

Thanks for any advice!

its easy to cut through the rip stop nylon but if your smart youll modd the inner canvis of the shoe.(starting from the inside layer) There is a luxury padded layer u will hve to cut through first then next there will be the same inner canvis as regular mesh lavers, cut gently and slowly through this layer and bam!!! a modded pair of lavers.

Hope i helped :D

I've got a pair of these babies on the way. My plan is to do what I always do with my lavers. Cut out the whole inside suface (leaving a big gaping hole). I'll stitch in (with increased care that with my last lavers that are now trashed after only a few months of shred) a swath of black fabric to replace all that trashy nylon crap. I think I'll prolly do that to the toe too... I'm nervous about this though, since that will mean that I need to cut the whole tongue of the shoe out right from the base. I'll be sure to let you guys know how they turn out.

keep it real
