DISCLAIMER: Sorry about the random order/nature of this post. No thesis statement or outline was prepared for this rant.

Also all videos cannot be held to my Lovely Standard. My real video camera is broken and I couldn't bring it. All videos are from my picture camera. I've had problems encoding to my standards also, as I am not at home. However, due to the awesome nature of worlds and the understandable annciness of modified-heads, I have put up what I can. Also, for you all to enjoy this I have chosen to sit in a Starbucks, pay their flippin' wireless fee, and miss shred for the afternoon to get these few videos and rants to you. So, in the future, if you make it to worlds and I'm one of the modified-heads sitting at home constantly hitting refresh on my browser to see if anything is added to the worlds update thread, PLEASE POST UPDATES!!

Yep, it's definitely crazy the North American to European ratio this year. I'm one of 2 US players competing this year. The official results are not out yet, but I believe we (the 2 US players) placed in the 40s. So that would make me one of the top 2 ranked in the US this year! Ya! If that's not a skewed representation of American talent, I don't know what is (oh ya, "America's got Talent")

So Vasek's been playing in practically NO circles. Somebody said they saw him playing at one point somewhere sometime... His 2 routines were crazy good. He hit triple around the world and whirr in both of them. No drops in round 1 and 1 drop in round 2 on double spinning clipper.
Felix has been laying it down. And as always, really fun to hang out with and very nice to other players. In the final circle shred he hit 2x Spinning clipper>2x Spinning clipper>Spinning osis to start a string. In an earlier circle competition he hit 10 whirrs to start his string. He also told me that he hit 8 consecutive Gyro Blurry Whirls. Felix won the circle competition, with Ales getting 2nd, Jorden 3rd, and Honza 4th. I personally thought that Jorden won or should of got 2nd. His runs are so unique and he wasn't afraid to try weird stuff. He was constantly going on long runs of very difficult unique moves that nobody else hits. He also hit whirring swirl in the circle competition. Felix was constantly laying it down though. The judges probably gave him the consistency consideration in judging. I just think the unique moves should of gotten more credit. Passes are a big thing in the circle competition too. I really like the idea of the circle competition! I think it is the most accurate test of a players ability in competition. The Montana Freestyle Jam will probably make it the main event next year. It is most similar to how we play. And it's more fun.
Phillip Morrison from New Zealand is somebody that everybody should remember, his style is tight, controlled, big, and smooth. He's one of those players who's heels seem to never touch the ground, and you can barely hear.
Sergey from St Petersburg Russia has only been playing for a year and his style is smooth. Very consistent, he can hit DLO, Pixies, Steps, Ducks, Drifters, Torques, and Whirls on command on both sides. That doesn't not cover everything he can do, but is just the stuff I know he could hit drunk and blindfolded with no warm up (yes, and exaggeration, but more fun to type than, "he can hit it often" )
Stephan Schmidt (sp?) has a very smooth style who has been playing well and made it to finals (tonight!)
In Big 3 finals, Jorden hit Whirr>Pdx Grifter>Pdx Flux with other people hitting a bunch of boring add-hunting classic big 3s that I've seen a hundred times. I know there were other good, original big 3s hit, but I can't remember them now...

Probably the most amazing thing about this year's world for me is the incredible skill level of a few 14 year olds.
Mathias from Denmark (can hit Rubberman 3x through). He's very nice and humble, and wow can he shred!!! Click here for a short video of a random run from him.
There is also a 14-ish year old from Japan (Team Japan=Awesome) who is insane, crazy good (PS. "Crazy Style" is the unofficial saying of worlds. I've heard it so many times!) He also is very kind and humble. He hit surging warrior in circle competition. His surging is very strong on both sides. I challenged him to hit gyro sidewalk repeat and he walked away with that crazy look in his eyes.

I'll try and get a decent run and post it before the tourney is wrapped up.

Another thing of worthy note is this: Europeans self-serve at an incredible frequency. I have never seen anything even close to it at any North-American tourney (Past 3 CSSs & SJFFs, World 04 in Montreal, and countless little Jams in the NorthWest).
Everybody takes at least 2 turns, sometimes 3. But this is the part that irritates me: When I serve it to them, they hand catch it and toss it down to their toe. EACH TIME. Not everybody, but enough. If Kenny Shults and/or Sunil Jani were here they would freak out, stop the tournament and regulate HARD CORE. I wish they were here so I could see the level at which they freaked out.

Oh ya, and Planet Footbag release the Quantum, the FIRST OFFICIAL FOOTBAG SHOE!!!
I did a thorough post on the Quantum with lots of pictures on the Missoula Footbag Alliance blog, which also has other tidbits from worlds.

Evan told me that he made the longest post of modified history today and so I had to come check it out. Pfffffft, some of my whiney complaining about girls posts are like eight times that!

I fucking love europe, the people involved in making the tournies here are so cool and adult and responsible. Europe makes us north americans look like fucking rookies at so many things.

World's has been really amazing so far!

Here's how each day goes:

- wake up at 11:30 on the floor in a classroom as the security guards make their rounds letting us know we have to be out by noon
- go pee
- wake vasek up so the guards don't get mad at him
- walk for three months to the train station
- get food, take train to event site
- walk for four months to the event site
- eat watermelon slices, apples and bananas
- sit in a thin strip of shade all day long with every one else, shredding occasionally
- juggle
- eat
- find out where the party is that night
- go home and shower
- party
- stumble home at 4 or 6 AM with a group of other players
- walk around lost for hours because frankfurt is a fucking maze

I am having very much fun and I like life.

can anyone say what happened in Net Singles?! I heard it was Manu vs. J-F in finals (mtl vs. mtl!!!). Wish I could see that.

Thanks for the updates Evan! It was great to see the shred 30s right after they happened. But I couldn't get Felix's shred 30. Props to Jorden for winning shred 30!!! I thought no one would ever beat Vaska. Thanks again Evan.

Yah, on the shred 30s Vasek got 228 and Honza got 238 and Jorden got 239. Wow, that's close.
That shouldn't of been Felix's 30 sec shred I uploaded but Juho's. It's fixed now.
