Hamilton, ON shred party

Post by BuckRuckus »

Just throwing this out there. Its a little last minute, but we'll see what happens. If there is enough interest, I'm having a:

BACKYARD B.B.Q. B.S.O.S. B.Y.O.B POOL PARTY

It will be this Saturday, July 29, in Hamilton (west mountain), Ontario - at my family's house. A big backyard, a swimming pool, barbeque, and a quiet, dead-end street for shred. About noonish-till-dark. Weather permitting.

I can provide rides to-and-from the Hamilton train/ bus station. So far, Camille 8) and Jorden 8O have shown interest in attending, and I'm sure we can drag out more of the Toronto crew too.

RSVP!

That's awesome everybody! SHRED>SWIM>EAT>RPT!!! If anybody needs anything - crash space, directions, GO bus info, let me know. There will be enough burgers and dogs for everyone. If you want to bring something more fancy to cook up, feel free. Is anyone vegetarian, btw?

I'll get you good directions, Dan (and anybody else who needs them). Give me some time to write em out good so they're foolproof and easy to follow. The house is near Mohawk Rd. and Uppper Paradise, if that means anything to you.

There is a slight scheduling conflict on Saturday. My cousin Mat is leaving for home (Florida) and my family is having a small get-together the same day. All that means is a few aunts and uncles chilling on the patio. This wont affect our shred, swimming, or BBQ - but we may have to keep the swearing down to a reasonable level.

Does that mean you can make it, Jon? That would be rad! Let me know if you need crash space.

Actually, my family is very easy-going and "cool" (take that however you want). Feel free to bring (and drink) alcohol in front of them. But for pete's sake, don't pass any joints to my Grandma! She gets loco! Plus, the shred will be going on in the front. We'll just be running back to swim and grab burgers.

So, people can show up for this thing any time they like, but it would be helpful if we can organize arrival times - if possible. I'm more than happy to pick people up from the train station, but I'd obviously like to make as few trips as possible.

- Zach Forth may be coming in from London. He said his bus would arrive at 1:15.

- If you're coming from Toronto, the 12 or 12:30 express bus would get you there about the same time (12:50 - 1:20).

Just a thought. When do you think you'll show up?

Here are driving directions from Toronto (or anything east of Hamilton):

1. Take the QEW west toward HAMILTON.

2. Take the 403 W toward HAMILTON / BRANTFORD. The highway basically splits in 2. Keep right. The exits, in order, go: Walkers Line, Guelph Line, Brant St., 403.

3. Merge onto LINCOLN M ALEXANDER PKWY E toward HAMILTON. This exit is past the exits for downtown Hamilton. The highway winds a bit, passes the lake on the right, then climbs up hill. The exit is at the top of the climb, on the right. Once you've merged off of the 403, just keep in the left-most lane which will take you on the bridge over the highway.

4. Take the GOLF LINKS RD. / MOHAWK RD. exit. This is the first exit on the right.

5. Turn LEFT onto GOLF LINKS RD / MOHAWK RD W. Its the first traffic light. Then go straight about 4 lights or so on Mohawk.

6. Turn RIGHT onto RICE AVE.

7. Turn LEFT onto WENDOVER DR.

8. Turn RIGHT onto FARMER CT. It's the first right.

9. End at 60 Farmer Court (near the end of the court).
Hamilton, ON L9C, CA

JON: I think you just take Highway 6 south, turn west on the 403, then follow my directions from step 3. Check the map though. HW6 looks like it splits.

My cell is 647 880 0848.

EDIT: I'll try and get work off or something.

Hey Mike, what stop are we getting off at? Hamilton (Main & Longwood), or Hamilton GO Centre? I think it's the GO Centre...

I can take either the 12:00 pm bus from toronto (arriving at 12:47 or 12:55, depending on the stop), or the 12:30 bus (arriving at 1:17 or 1:25).

Perhaps the latter is the best?

Who else from Toronto wants to bus it with me? We can meet at Union Station.

Sorry guys and girls, I don't think I can make it. Make some lame 'that's what she said' calls in my honour.

Have fun everyone, and congratulations Jorden!

If you're taking the Go, get off at the station. It's the very last stop.

The latest weather report says that it will be a beautiful day on Satruday!
