Awesome pics. What happened to the Thundering Warrior? That beer was the best. It could win the Sam Adams brew contest. When you come back down to San Diego, bring some more of the magic brew. Richard

Thundering Warrior was packaged incorrectly for the brewing contest.

I pretty much only have one beer ready for the contest, and luckilly it's a very good one.

I'll be sure to bring something good with me next time I'm in town. It will be several months before there is any warrior going around again.

Just scored two corny kegs for $20 apiece.

15 gallon maximum capacity, on tap.

I guess I need to aquire 3 more to have enough to fill the keg-o-rater
and have a spare on hand.

Well, the kegs are full and the system works as intended. :(

Strawberry wheat, blackberry cream, and malt liquor are now being
served on tap at The Bend.

woooo !

that was a good trip, ending it all with back to back back-country half marathons through desolation wilderness.

We started out thursday night with a midnight hike into the eldorado forest. We just layed out on the ground, watched some meteors, and dozed off, dispite the full moon being very bright. I'm glad we left the tent in the car.

Friday morning, we grabbed our wilderness permit and went to the trailhead, had a brief lunch of cream of rice, and began our ascent to desolation . . .

Exiting the forest, 8 toes were sporting duck tape, one treking pole was killed, and a boot had lost part of it's sole.

A few shots from the desolation wilderness trip. 8miles, 15 miles, 15 miles.

Image
Here we see the view from our campsite on lake Aloha, 8200'. An evening to ourselves, mosquito free, and high action meteor shower later at night.
Image
Dick's pass, 9400'. After walking down to 7000', we finished our day
with 1200' over a mile to the pass. What an awesome campsite.
Spectacular panoramic views of the whole wilderness area. A fitting
end to a strenous day. We met lots of people who said we couldn't do it,
especially at the end of a long day. I think we powered up dick's in
about 45 minutes. I then vomitted for an hour and a half, took some
medicine, drank some pain killer, ate some dinner, and laid out.
Another spectacular night of meteors, satellites, and moonlit expanses
of wonderment.

Ma ! Wudya look at that tree, it's bent !

lake aloha, coming down from dicks pass.

Image
Me, self portrait, standing on snow in august, when it's 90F+ outside, just
enjoying the views.

self portrait from Ansel Adams wilderness

I should have started taking self portraits on my trips a long time ago.
These are turning out pretty damn fine. I certainly don't get shots of myself
this good when other people are working the camera.

Just another shot of one of my "campsites".
This one was right next to a good size waterfall at hemlock crossing.

Self portait of myself hiking at night.
It has been 10 hours since I last saw a trail,
and I still had a trek ahead of me before I would
stop to setup camp for the evening.

I decided after this trip that I work too hard not to carry at least
a 35mm camera. (mine is only slightly larger than 16mm)

Once I get my new camera, I'm off to go sasquatch hunting in oregon.

I just picked up my camera from the post office.

Everything seems to be in working order, and I'm in the final stages of preparing for the sasquatch hunt.

I think this will be another solo trip. Two people tend to walk, break and talk, which will warn, and potentially scare away, the saquatchi.

Oh, and I wesson grabbed a reverse swirl, sealed with a drifter.

re-occuring visions of being caught alone in a blizzard.

Solo trip in one week.

Bad Omen, irrational fear, or the subconscious making the conscious aware of the reality of backpacking solo in october ?

The last sunset of summer, complete with grit somebody left all over the scanner.

So much more pleasant than being screwed out of my first author position on my paper.

I misexposed every single shot, but if you were there you would have seen what I saw.

but

I survived subfreezing temperatures, rain, sleet, snow, and dense fog while solo trekking in the lower trinity alps with no shelter but my hammock. Oh well, here is the contact sheet of the storming coming in along the south west ridge on a sunday afternoon.

My winning streak in darts came to an abrupt end this week as my left hand
completely dominated my right hand in a cricket match.

Playing left vs right is so strange. It feels just like playing another person, emotionally and mentally. I feel it is sometype of milestone to have
defeated my strong hand with my weaker arm. It was a really good feeling
to be able to close the deal quickly and not let the momentum get away.

Props on your ambidextrous darting feats! Another variant of cricket which is a bit longer is "Mickey" which you might have heard of under a diff. name. It's from 12-20 any order (but you have to call it unless going down from 20 to 10) and you also have to hit 3 doubles 3 triples and 3 bulls. And for ex. a triple 1 when aiming for twenties does not count as a triple (but a triple 20 would)..

Anyway yeah, maybe you're taking this footbag both-sidedness too far no? ;)

Hello 2007 !

I took some pictures of my hometown while vacationing for the holidays.
I didn't play any footbag, it just wasn't on my mind much.

I grew up in a small town, and so we had a very small castle.

I work in a lab, so we have dark rooms for developing x-ray film and such. It's one of the perks of working here.
