What are the rules for the shred 30 going to be? Are you using worlds rules? Are the four double dexes unique?

Hey all,
This is information for those who are flying in. From the airport there is a monorail system that takes you right into the heart of Portland. I am recommending everyone flying in to hop on that, it is pretty fast and will bring you into the middle of everything. Here is the link to info about it

Jump on the Red Line to City Center, and you can jump off it either
Lloyd Center/NE 11th Ave MAX Station (near the site and hotel)
or ride it another six stops and jump off right at footbag historic Pioneer Square, downtown in the middle of everything. From there we will get ya. There are a lot of people coming in at a lot of random times, so it is easier to meet people at the MAX points and give them a lift from there. I believe to ride it costs 1.95 adult, 1.30 youth/student. Again, my number is 503-380-4395, for when you get in town. More info to come!

Okay, so I've been thinking, and reading up on the rules of Shred 30, and I've made the decision to do the following for shred 30 Scoring for the US Opens:

NO X-Dex
NO Unique DD moves
30 seconds starting from the first move
Score starts from the first 3+ add move

I decided to go by the IFPA rules so that there is no misconceptions and so that there is some consistent scoring method between events (i.e. the US opens and Worlds, and any previous scores that the players have gotten)

Just as a general reference I do think that the four Double Down moves are unique, and x-dex is valid, but I have to go with the Standard IFPA rules, so that we can have consistent scoring

Consistent scoring, eh...? SJFF doesn't use those rules, so you won't be consistent with us, let alone consistent with what most people think when they think "shred 30 rules." Just some food for thought.

I was reading through the IFPA rulebooks and they don't mention the X-Dex as an add value. I DL'd the PDF form from .org and there was no mentoin of x-dex in the entire section. I'm talking with red, and Red is talking to the IFPA about it to see what's going on (They need to update thier books). The rulebook that I DL'd is from 2006, so it's pretty current. I'm open to suggestions and change, if everyone wants to change it to a more "Standard" scoring method, I will. It's not set in stone yet

I think x-dex should count. And the four double dexes should be considered unique. But worlds rules are fine.

Hmm... now that I think about it, it may not have been used. I checked the Worlds '05 website and it said no x-dex.

The reason that I'm confused on the issue is that pretty no one does any tricks in shred :30 that would get x-dex ;-]

Looking at http://www.footbag.org/rules/chapter/500#505 it feels like there is some discretion left up to the tournament director. In any case, I think it should be consistent with what was done at Worlds this year just for score comparison purposes.

x-dex has been used at a number of worlds and also not used at a number of worlds - there is no ruling on this.

I would say it's very likely that it will be in the rule book by next year but I guess it's not good to speculate too much.

Hey,
Just received some news/confirmations. All I can say is, if you can make this event, I would certainly recommend it. You won't want to miss it...

Also, it looks like we may hit around 100 actual competitors for the entire event. The competition has grown larger than I had previously estimated, which I am very happy about. More updates to come!

Hey all, Noah's house is nearing capacity, we may have a couple of other places to stay (the net guys are taking up a lot of the other house's crash space), but I would also recommend if possible checking in with Chris Miller and his hotel situation.
