Lovely Films presents:Freestyle Sessions

Post by TwistedTorque »

This is my entry into the World Video Challenge.
All footage is from Portland North West Fest 2005 (Summer).
Main players are Jim Penske and Flash Gorden with highlights from Jorden Moir and Lon Smith.
5 minutes long. MPEG-4
I like it, I hope you will too.
Any constructive criticism would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Enjoy...

File works for me..(which will be obvious very soon)..

Great video, Evan! Thanks for sharing. I loved seeing some circle footage of these guys (namely Moir, since most videos of him have a Canadian flag backdrop  ). Good music, though I like the song for the credits better :P. Upbeat with awesome shred; videos like these almost edit themselves.

As far as constructive criticism goes, lens flare/fireball/[insert flashy special effect here] over the bag is a little pet peeve of mine, though it's understandable if the bag just isn't really visible during that given shot. It definitely wasn't overdone, which was good.

Also, I always prefer seeing the entire player when they're shredding, as opposed to their legs alone...but if that's the footage you got then there isn't much that can be done.

All in all, fun video! I look forward to seeing more Lovely Films presentations in the future.
Invictus.

Sick video Evan! Brings back some good memories. Nice editing. I liked the slow motion Jorden moves. And Lon had a cool run with double spinnings.

Huge Apple Fan using Final Cut Pro and Motion for Glow Bag.
I like glow bag because if you don't have footbagger eyes, you can still see it. Definitely is nice when the bag goes in the shadows. I tried not to overdo it either...
Thanks...

Very sweet vid Evan! It's great that you could capture the best of North America and put it on show at worlds :)

I coulden't watch it with sound (i'm in the lab) but I certainly will tonight, the visuals look fantastic though ;)

I was excited when I saw this topic because in my mind, Evan, you have a reputation for making unique and captivating videos. Unfortunatly this one didn't mesh with me. I won't say its bad, because it's not, but I didn't like the music. I didnt find the video entertaining. It took me two sessions to watch it. Also, I thought the camera work was average. I'm sure I'm one of the few that thinks this. I consider myself a very good videographer but I wouldn't mind if you disregarded my oppinion. Thanks for making a video! Keep finding your style.
