I may have talked about these before, but I don't think so.
I walked into my room a few days ago and noticed the foam roller I had used during my rehab from patellar tendonitis last year (worked very well btw). Since I have been kicking recently and have been sore, I decided to see if it would loosen up my hamstrings a bit. I completely forgot how well these work to prevent tightness after a workout. I started doing 8-10 reps on all four sides of my thigh up to my hip and then on my calf in the morning and after playing along with what I'd normally do and my legs feel a lot better. They're pretty cheap so if you're the type of person that suffers from tight quads and hamstrings, you might want to give one a try.

Anyone else have good (or bad) experiences using one?

Re: Foam Roller
So how exactly was it used during rehab? Was it used to massage your quads?full nelson wrote:I walked into my room a few days ago and noticed the foam roller I had used during my rehab from patellar tendonitis last year (worked very well btw).

Basically you lie on top of it rolling on certain muscle groups. So yeah, rolling on your quads to overtime reduce the stress that is translated to the patellar tendon. It can be used on most muscle groups, you just have to be in the most efficient position to get a good 'massage' out of it.
