HEy guys, this is a good discussion indeed.
As others have said, it's not new, though, so it's not a Rino set
Today I hit Rinage clean enough to be considered clean. Still no video, but i plan on capturing it soon. I dont see any reason i cant name a nameless trick if i hit it cleanly. I named my red white and blue hania bag pat so i have a quick and easy way of identifying this bag easily. Now I never have to say "hey throw me that 32 panel red white and blue facile footbag."
I think we can all agree that in footbag (or any other art) it is essential to make everything as easy as possible. Though this has been hit in the past it obviously wasnt as thoroughly as explored or acknowledged as a set. IF nobody has attempted to make names or have this concept identified as what it is then why should my attempt be denied?

a) naming everything does NOT make it easier. It's just more to remember

b) if I decided I wanted to name pdx drifter "booster" or something, everyone would flame me for it, and rightly so. You can't just up and name something... you have to have good cause. i.e. invent it, or, really make something of it. What it really comes down to is if the community accepts the new name or not.

I think 'flying whirling' (or whatever naming convention we settle on, because i think 'flying sets' should get a name for ease of communication) is a much easier one. There's so many sets out there we can't remember the nicknames for all of them. You are, of course, free to call it whatever you want. And everyone else is free to either go along with that or reject it. I use technical names a lot because I can't be arsed remembering all the nicknames. I think it just makes it easier.

So, who was the first to hit this set? If it has been hit, where is the video? It's not listed anywhere, nor have I seen it on video.

Peter Irish has probably seen/hit more flying tricks than all of us combined. If anyone knows, it's him.

i see you write it like that, and i watch the video and i disagree totally. i guess it's gonna be one of those agree to disagree things. i don't think i'm gonna change your mind about it, and i know you won't change mine. regardless of what it is, i think you could probably get pretty creative with the "set".

The set in the video is not clean, as we've said before (dex came before the kick). Are you saying that it's not possible, or what? Is my jobs notation incorrect: flying clip > (no plant while) whirl dex >> ???

Please elaborate on what you disagree with.

I think the only disagreements are if it is a set or not.

You call it a flying whirling set.

Other people might see it as a blazing set, that you happen to hit off of a flyer. That transition is gnarly, but does it really change the set is the question.

Lets jump ahead to the future 3 years and assume this catches on. . .

stepping paradox miraging flying whirling mirage.

One trick or two.

i see it as a paradox drifter thing ending in a flying clipper and then a blazing mirage.

I don't feel like there's a dex unless the foot of the dexing leg starts below the bag when the bag is kicked.

Hmm...Yeah, idk. I just checked Jorden's trick tip on swirling monster, and the dex leg basically just goes over the bag in an arc on the way up, it's never really under the bag. I know that this is a different move, and the axes are different, but I guess I have a hard time quantifying full dexes, ie. butterfly, etc.

A set hit directly out of a flyer, without planting first = flying set. 'Flying-blazing' is different not only in jobs, but in difficulty, and the way it is performed.

Calling flying-whirling, blazing, is like calling symposium blazing, just blazing. Technically they are both blazing, but there is a subtle difference that needs to be acknowledged. Technically a flying clipper is just a clipper... But calling just that would be silly.

I think 'A set hit directly out of a flyer, without planting first', needs a name to differentiate itself, whether it be called a flying set, mid-air set, or whatever. Even though the first contact is flying (the fly. clipper), doesnt mean the whirl dex is not flying (How can you not be flying, if you're in the air?!)

Flying clipper (or any flyer) to blazing set may imply that you're not on the ground, but calling it simply blazing is just not accurate.

"That guy hit a flying clipper, to a whirling dod!"
I think even that would imply the set was performed midair, as I don't think anyone could hit an uptime blaze out of a flying clipper, planting first. Call it what you will, but it Is a new family of sets, yet to be explored.
Undeniably a variation of the blaze set, jobs proves it. Whether or not YOU can hit it, is a different question altogether.

Some other stuff:
-Flying inside kick > (no plant while) op out/in[dex] >>
-Flying toe pop > (no plant while) same in/out[dex] >>
-etc

Two. but you did not write it correctly... "stepping paradox miraging flying clipper > (no plant, mid-air, or flying...) whirling mirage"

You did mean pdx dragon fly?

J, we should be giving props to these 2 young shredders for coining such a useful term! I use it all the time now, why just the other day I hit highplains drifter and James E says "nice jani walker", and of course I replied "nice rino set" and we both had a good laugh!

Check the shred symposium and getting started section... there are rino sets everywhere!!!

From the beginning of time there has been legs, feet, and objects to kick around which means that there has always been all of the tricks there will ever be. Footbag is an idea as is life.As footbaggers it is our duty to discover what is out there and make it reality. It is our job to overcome adversity. We must be diligent and when you know your right you got to fight for it. Im not in footbag for self glorification im into footbag because i love the sport. I am intreagued and confounded by footbag. When I see something that can be brought into exitsence im going to bring it to life. i have stumbled upon a concept that has not been conceived. Obviously some of the things i have done have never been done before or at least recorded in some kind of record keeping system such as a set list. YOu cant put this concept in a trick list because it isnt a trick it is a whole family of tricks, and whether or not you can fathom or accept it as what it is, it is real, ive seen it come to life before my very eyes!

Either your IQ/reading comprehension is that of a 2nd grader, or you are a jackass. Nate, to you I award modified's most immature award. You haven't contributed anything to this thread, other than immaturity.

Im glad you agree it's at least possible. If it has been hit before, then Ben has no right to name it. BTW, who has hit it? What Is it called?
Selfish, Lame, and Unecessary... *ahem* Janiwalker, SunilWalker, RIPwalk, RIPstein, etc... C'mon people. As a great person(nate) once said
habitat wrote:You are all t eh suxorz. It's not a set, never will be a set.
"t eh suxorz"? Self 'pwnage' indeed. This was a very civilized and intruiging discussion...
You say it has been hit forever. Please tell us where you've seen it. Are uptime dexes no longer sets? Please backup your arguments with proof.

Peter Irish, undeniably one of the best freestylers ever, said, in this thread, top of page 2... "You could alter it a bit though and make it a set..."

Nate, self-pwning habitat, to you I say, If you're not interested in the evolution of footbag, and don't have anything useful to add, then don't. Period.

Alex Zerbe is the greatest (ADD 4)
Spyro Symple Drifter
Spyro Symposium Miraging Clipper

Clip >> (back) Spin (BOD) >> (no plant while) Same In (DEX) > Same Clip (XBD)(DEL)
In my opinion this is one of the greatest trick names ever. There's nothing wrong with trying to achieve some degree of immortality by trying to name a trick after you. Even though I will admit that I would like people to be a little bit more humble about their attempts to do so.

Correction: one of the worst trick names ever. It's a freaking sentence... I would never use that nickname.

But spyro symple drifter is sick :D
