Those names are lame. They should be something like "Crosseyed Pixie" and "Crosswind Neo". Why must you hold the sport back with your boring nomenclature?mikeanello wrote:At the time Matt and I referred to these sets as "kick set whatever" or "toe kick pixie" and "inside kick neo".

Skippy: You must've missed it. I said several times, that we don't care what it's called, and since it Has been hit before, we Ben does not have the right to name is.
"toe>op flying dealie" is not the trick we're looking at. It is "Flying 'dealy'> no plant whirl."
All we're saying is that it is a set, performed directly after a flyer, without planting first. It at least deserves a technical name. There is definitely no plant after the clipper kick, and before the dex (dex comes after kick!), therefore (no plant while) is necessary!
Matt Cross' kick set pixies are not just pixies; they are inside kick set pixies, and toe kick set pixies. If you want to make cool names for them, then cool! I'm all for it. It's still describing the same trick, and they're still different than a regular pixie
What would also be cool is if he did a flying kick, then pixie'd the bag before landing.
Hyper set is cool to; a pixie set starting with the setting foot planted on the ground, which is exactly the opposite of a pixie that starts with no feet on the ground.
Im glad you brought this up too. Flying sets are the opposite of 'rooted' sets.
The trick in question is a flying clipper set, uptime-whirl, without planting first. Call it that if you want, but it is Real, and it's definitely a set (assuming it's hit cleanly), and there's definitely no plant between the kick and the dex.
Does anybody understand this at all? It seems like everyone is misinterpreting everything, and puting words in my mouth, so to speak.
I'm only stating facts. Don't kill the messenger!

We should call these sets "uprooted". Rino is uprooted whirling or uprooted blazing, depending on the rest of the move.Flying sets are the opposite of 'rooted' sets.
Just a thought.

Rino is to Flying Clipper as Zoom is to osis
Both Rino and Zoom are names given to a specific type of link, not a specific type of set. Zoom sets are spinning tricks that follow a trick ending in an osis. Rino sets would be whirling/blazing tricks that follow a trick ending in a flying clipper. A zoom set osis is not unique from a regular spinning osis just as a Rinage would not be unique from a blazing mirage that followed a butterfly. The only difference comes in the difficulty of the link. Anyway, it's a cool looking link, just not deserving of it's own name.

The following sets are conventional sets, set from an unconvential delay/kick/etc, and thus, are different sets altogether.
I think the 'rino' set, as I'll refer to it for simplicities sake, is exactly like these sets.
Unusual Sets:
1. Snapping (Dragon Set Swirling)
DRAGON > SAME FRONT SWIRL [DEX] >
2. Twisted (Dragon Set Swirling Paradox)
DRAGON > SAME FRONT SWIRL [DEX] > SAME IN/OUT [PDX][DEX] >
3. Frozen (Frigidosis Atomic)
FRIGIDOSIS > OP OUT [DEX] >
4. Arctic (Frigidosis Pixie)
FRIGIDOSIS > SAME IN [DEX] >
5. Canadian Frigidosis Terraging (Double Arctic)
FRIGIDOSIS > SAME IN [DEX] > SAME IN [DEX] >
6. Helical (Frigid Osis Set Sailing)
7. Gimpy (Stepping Op Knee Bump)
CLIP > OP IN> OP KNEE BUMP >
8. Pimpy (Pixie Same Knee Bump)
TOE > SAME IN > SAME KNEE BUMP >
9. Finchy (Pinching Fairy set)
PINCH > SAME OUT >
10. Pixie Pinching
PINCH > SAME IN >
11. Stepulous (Pendulum-Set Stepping)
XBD PENDULUM > OP IN > (SAME SIDE)
We could easily add "Uprooted" whirl to that list, like this:
Flying Clip Kick > (no plant while) op/in[dex] >>
If those 11 sets are considered sets, then 'uprooted' sets should be also.
There is Some kind of link involved in every set. Take stepping, for example: It links a clipper, to an uptime in/out dexterity, just as uprooted whirl, links flying clipper, to a mid-air uptime in/out dex.
Just as with a stepping trick, an uprooted whirling trick actually starts with the dexterity, which just happens to be mid-air, with no feet on the ground. Very unique.

As long as you don't try to call everything rino-whatever (rinage, rinwalk, rinoenix, rinex Zerbe is the Greatest, etc.), I couldn't care less if you wanna call it a set. (it isn't though)
Well, fine. Here goes: you can do sets out of clipper. But hey (you say), What if I set out of a toe clipper? Well, we just say "zoid set whatever". Same if you set from a cloud. Cloud set whirl. Nothing new here.

then i guess any thing hit out of a flyer deserves an extra add? so if i hit flying clipper to toe stall the toe stall is 2 adds then? sorry mate, that's just not how jobs work or how tricks are defined.gangsta wrote:Furthermore, I believe a whirl, performed mid-air, after a flyer, should deserve an extra add.
A.G.
Not anything, but a dex performed mid-air after a flyer. If you could pull that toe stall out mid air, then yea, thats a flying toe stall.hacksterbator wrote: then i guess any thing hit out of a flyer deserves an extra add? so if i hit flying clipper to toe stall the toe stall is 2 adds then? sorry mate, that's just not how jobs work or how tricks are defined.
op in/out [dex]: Stepping
op in/out [dex]: Quantum
op in/out [dex]: Blazing
Stepping, blazing, and Quantum have the exact same jobs notation; they don't need 3 seperate names! They are miraging sets, no matter how you look at it. Blazing is just a leggy miraging set, no matter how you look at it.
The only difference between Stepping and Quantum is the set. Stepping and Quantum are names for Links. That's right, I said it; names for Links!
clip [del] > op in/out [dex] >>: Stepping
toe [del] > op in/out [dex] >>: Quantum
Names for links! There's no reason you can't give flying clip > op in/out[dex] a name.
It has the exat same jobs as Symp. Whirling:
[no plant while] op in/out[dex] >>: 'uprooted' whirling
[no plant while] op in/out[dex] >>: Symp. Whirling
The only difference is the set:
Flying Clip kick > [no plant while] op in/out[dex] >>: 'uprooted' whirling

plasma rifle = toe set SS stomping
pink tutu = clip set>op arm dex (pirioute style)
ozzy osbourne = toe set>slap both hands on ground>op component
sharon osbourne = toe set>slap both hands on ground>ss component
savior = lap catch set>hail mary prayer
Yes, there is a reason.
But seriously for a second, what DO you want someone to say? Like, I don't get what answer your looking for. Almost everyone agrees that it could be a set (if hit cleanly) just as all the ones I listed above. Sooooo, what's up? Do you like repeating yourself over and over and making yourself looking like ass?
Name it the gangsta set. No DUDE, name it the rino gangsta set! Everyone will remember you guys forever!!!!
By the way, moves don't "deserve" adds. Add value is based of the main "agreed" upon components. You can't just make one up. Shit, if I close my eyes I should get an extra add

Those are some pretty sweet tricks! One time I hit: Inside kick > arm triple switchover > op arm triple switchover > Osis > Run
My only purpose is to inform. There are some Nay-sayers, and some people who seem to be confused about what we're talking about. Now that people Know, and understand, they can throw these sweet-ass, unique sets into their runs, and make people go
Flying Toe kick > (no plant) Atomic > ducking Symp DoD would be sweet as fuck (which is pretty sweet, as we all know)
(Uprooted Atomic? I think that 'Technical' name is sufficient)
I think "Uprooted", as Mike suggested, is a good name for sets that begin after a flyer, without planting first. Why do you think we cannot call this family of sets uprooted?
The only reason I think it should get an extra ADD, is because of this: [no plant while], which is not made up.
That is all.
On an off-topic note, Closing your eyes would definitely add an extra degree of difficulty!

This got me to thinking, how DO new tricks get officially recognized by the IFPA/competing or whatever? I have this feeling that going on modified and saying, "New mind blowing trick" is not the way to do it. If you really feel that you're new trick is awesome, then get in touch with the people who actually matter, because not every single Joe Bob on modified is on the IFPA board of directors. Honestly though, as I said if you're SERIOUS about this, then you should be approaching it in a SERIOUS manner. Bantering on the internet about the validity of your new trick is NOT approaching it in a serious manner.
I dunno, that's just my two cents man. If I invented a new trick, yeah I'd post about it on modified, no doubt, but I'd be doing a lot more than saying "New trick", and just posting a video of what is apparently not the right trick anyway. Talk to some people who count and who can say, "Yeah this could be recognized as a new concept" or, "Sorry dude, head back to the drawing board."]
EDIT: And when you talk to those people, approach them with an EXAMPLE of the real trick. I mean, it's all good and fine to tell them, "Yeah it kinda looks like this." But that's not really very convincing...clearly, it didn't work so well here.
